Rhymes With Leadership

How is it that the stupidest president in the history of this country lost both houses of Congress and yet was still able to get them to vote for everything that he wanted, but the smartest president ever loses just one half of Congress and is resorted to throwing temper tantrums like a spoiled child?

I said it almost from day one, Bush doesn't need to spend a lifetime trying to repair his legacy like Clinton or Carter, Obama has done it for him in two years.

Honestly I'm shocked that the GOP hasn't caved in yet. They are extremely weak..... The ONLY explanation is their fear of the Tea Party and I hope that continues.

Mark Levin said last night the Republicans should just pass their budget in the house. Then drop it in Harry Reids lap. If he doesn't bring it to a vote it's on him. If he does and it doesn't pass it's on the Dems. If it passes and the president Veto's it it's on him.

Politically they're covered and financially the country doesn't keep spending.

It's a win win for the Grand Old Party and for the country.

You have a point. When there is a Republican President he can get legislation through a Congress controlled by the other Party. A Democrat can barely (if at all) get legislation through a Senate where he haws 60 votes. Part of it is that the Republicans now filibuster everything.

I think the Republicans may cave to avoid financial disaster. But maybe they are crazy enough not too, in which case I think it will be a political disaster for the GOP.

why would it be a financial disaster?

please explain.

Well I'm not an economist but economists seems to think that if we don't raise the debt ceiling it will be a financial disaster.

So then you have no idea? You read the headlines that said economist says it will be a disaster and that was it?

Not big on critical thinking are you?

Well some economists say it would be a disaster... however what they really said was NOT PAYING THE SERVICE ON THE NATIONAL DEBT WOULD BE A FINANCIAL DISASTER.

However the federal government currently takes in over 220 billion dollars per month in tax revenue and debt service is about 29 billion. So I'm pretty sure we can pay the debt. Also the president says he's not sure if social security checks will go out? That's about 35 billion per month. So if they don't go out then that means the president decided some other things were more important.

There's plenty of things that can go before those two things. No need to increase the national debt to pay the bills that HAVE to be paid. Just cut the things that aren't as important and won't affect the credit rating.

here endeth the lesson.
