Seems to me that, for example, the cotton industry has been doing pretty well for itself the past 150 years, you know without the cheap labor of which you speak.
I would think that trying to stop illegal immigration would be a cornerstone of the liberal agenda, I mean what better way to stick it to the evil corporate man than to take away his cheap labor pool, force him to pay a "decent living wage" while increasing tax revenue for your socialist welfare programs and increase your union numbers in one fell swoop.

The other side of this that nobody talks about is how extremely cheap labor stifles innovation.
No need to invest in developing new technologies if you can pay someone to do the job cheaper.
It seems to be common sense that this has to be happening in some of these industries.
