Whoever Knew Must Be Through

Innocent until proven guilty blah blah blah. Now that Ive got the legal mumbo jumbo out of the way, I will say this...

Foley needs to be arrested and brought up on charges befitting a pedophile sexual predator. If found guilty, he needs to have his sack cut off and force fed to him. Just as importantly, anyone that had knowledge of these indespicable and illegal emails needs to resign and step down. I dont give a shite if this a a hotly contested election year (and we all know, thats what you were thinking). Damage control should be about protecting kids from sick bastards, not holding onto congressional seats. Youve failed the public trust...youve lost your D.C. privileges. Now be gone and stay gone.

Thank you Uncle Joe for great take what is not cruel and unusual . on the bright side, in many great muslim countries, if the 16yo was a she and he was a Muslim, he could have married her and been banging away 4-6 years ago.

take it easy donk! don't you know the guy just entered rehab? He's a victim! that's the deal, in case you didn't know. barney frank was running a BROTHEL out of his apartment with underage boys and this guy is a serious power in the house right now, and lets not even get started on the kennedy clan!
Personally i think foley is disgusting, but as far as we know the only thing he did was send some emails to some teenage boys. he's out, that's enough politically.

Thats enough politically? Thats the line of thinking that perpetuates the cycle of corruption regardless of who is in power. Just because Ted Kennedy got away with murder doesnt mean the next guy should as well.

I didn't say anything about murder, and if foley did anything criminal he should pay, but to say everyone who knew he was sending emails "must be through" is just a ridonkulous statement. Just like the Duke "rape" case we don't know anything yet. Hastert and company said they didn't know the extent of the problem and told him to cut the crap either way. What did he do? as far as we know he sent some sexually explicit emails to 16 year old boys. That's it. Disgusting, but hardly the same as what barney frank did, or what kennedy did. Not nearly as bad as rape (bj) or even selling influence like that guy in New Orleans (jefferson?)

You might be correct to say this is the lesser of evils compared to others, but it doesnt make it right. McKinney smacking a cop and getting away with it is certainly not as offensive as Foley's trangressions, just as his "emails" are no worse than the examples you cited. Its the whole picture you are missing.

There is no accountability, and no matter how people may spin it as a GOP or Dems are bad issue or worse than the other, the fact is they are both prone to this sort of scandal, and when push comes to shove have proven time and again that they will defend each other rather than look out for the interests of the American people. Take for example the Jefferson case, both sides came out to defend him saying that their offices are "off limits" to crime investigations...WTF is that? The guy got busted red handed with cold hard cash in the freezer, but they know they might be next so they defend his right to criminal investigatory immuntiy...frickin bullshit.

Donkey doesn't it seem funny to you that this news comes out a month before the elections? some of these emails are over a year old. why are they coming out now?
Could it be politics? who leaked it? we know it wasn't the republican leadership so that means they weren't the only ones who knew. So how long did the leaker know? what did EVERYONE know? what do WE know?
I agree that they're all scumbags, but that's on the voters. If the voters decide to dump them then that's ok by me, but you can't just throw them out because you think they should have done more to stop whatever this guy was doing.

oh, he went into rehab. great. Salvation by way of The Twelve Steps. That's it. Oh, and he's a VICTIM? Are you serious? The guy who had young pages actually BID their own money for the opportunity to have a cozy dinner at Morton's with this repugnant pig?

GOP= Guardians of Pedophiles

I found this on another blog (lefty, but it works).

Rhino, did you notice how I didnt mention party affiliation. Your excuse of it just being "politics" is my very reason to try and hold them to a higher standard. We as a nation have become desensitized to harmful effects these scandals have on our nation.

A blowjob is no longer sex, a DWI arrest is the result of a painful childhood, and assault on an officer of the law is because of racist persectution. Its all a crock and Im calling them ALL out on it. There is enough evidence to arrest Foley, and if more evidence arises indicating others knew then they need to be brought up on aiding and abetting charges as well. Thank god we are only talking about emails and not actual physical child abuse.

Anita, the mocking tone you are now taking with Foley is the same excuse regarding 12 steps and addiction that you used to defend Patrick Kennedy not so long ago...so what is it that you really feel, I mean besides your usual partisan hackery.

Donkeyhue, I agree with you there. I've reconsidered some of my defences of him, particularly in light of his using rehab as a PR tactic.

And I will say that over the past few months or so I've noticed that it is becoming more and more common to use "going to rehab" as a cynical public relations ploy, as well as a means of minimizing the legal ramifications of illegal (or potentially damaging) behavior on the part of politicians (left or right, Patrick Kennedy case in point) and people in the public eye in general (Kate Moss, Billy Joel, Mel Gibson, etc.). Rarely are these people serious. Usually they are out within days of entering the facility.

Of course, I'm not making an equivalence between what Patrick Kennedy did and what Foley is being accused of. But still and all it's a pretty sad state of affairs.

But at the same time, to call Foley, a 'family values' candidate and a purported crusader on behalf of exploited children, a "victim" is more than a little bit over the top. Don't you think?

Rhino-itall said...

anita, no i'm not serious. i don't think he's a victim i was being a wise ass.
Donkey i'm not disagreeing with you on this one, i'm saying that the guy sent emails to people. As far as we know he didn't rape any of them,(bj clinton) he didn't pay them for sex,(barney frank) he didn't use his position to intimidate them into doing things with him, etc.
If he goes to jail for his crimes fine, but i don't think we can just say anyone who knew he was sending emails should be out, especially if they didn't know the extent of it which is what they're claiming right now.
Also, i stand by my political angle. I don't care whose party it is. The point is that whoever exposed it probably has known for a while and planned to bring it out now instead of bringing this guy down right away. So if he was going to take the next step these people could have stopped it but waited until it was politically expedient to expose him.

I do. Once again the innocent until proven guilty jibber jabber, but if hes found to have been cyber sexing with teenage boys then he deserves a public beatdown.

Speaking of drunks, I had lunch at Blaggards today.

He's not a pedophile, 16 is post pubescent. The guy is gay is all. That's how gay guys act.

Well Miss it sure looks like hes a mo, and from reading the ims so is the kid, but thats besides the point. Girls develop earlier and some are post pubescent at 13 -14, is that ok?

We are a nation of laws, and one in particular deals with the age of consent. Even if the kid wanted it, which it looks like he did, Foley was wrong.

As far as my trip to Cuba, Im not very fluent in spanish and thought she said thirty. La ignorancia un correcto legal de la defensa?

Everyone keeps bringing up Barney Frank. Now let's not forget who was behind that whole scene. Sure, Frank was involved. But so was Craig Spence and even George H. W. Victims testified under oath that they saw Poppa go off to a bedroom with a teenage black boy. This scandal happened from the early 80's til it hi the front page of the Washington Times. Now why do you think the Wash Times of all papers? Moonie wanted political power. Remember, he was sending young Korean females to blackmail Congressman and Senators way back when. Do your homework on Moon and the Franklin Credit Union Scandal before you JUST toss out Franks name. I'm not defending Frank btw. I thought it was obscene that he was on the Bill Maher show commenting on Foley. Maher has proven to be a total fraud.
