"I've been a wild rover for many a year, And I spent all my money on whiskey and beer"And it's No, Nay, never, UP YOUR BROWN EYE No, nay never no more
Studies could very well prove me wrong, you may even work with or know a paddy or colleen who no more abuses the bottle than a liverless mormon schoolmarm, but if in response to my statement, the Irish masses took to the pubs downing copious quantities of Smithwicks and stout (chased with whiskey of course) got in their finest Notre Dame fightin' Irish boxing leprechaun pose and started violent donnybrooks, well it'd be very hard for you to argue my point that all micks are licks, right? But, more importantly where would your outrage be directed? ...at my statement or at the resulting affirming actions? The fact is that the Muslim faith is historically steeped in violence (as is the Irish in their drunkenness, see: Kennedys). The Quran says so, but then again so does the Judeo-Christian bible, you know the whole eye for an eye and fire and brimstone stuff. Hell, even Shaolin monks have been known to throw down an ass-whooping now and again. Most religions were formed in more barbaric times where might equaled right, thats just the way it was. Unfortunately some zealots never evolved or adapted to the more civilized times that we now live in. Where is the public condemnation from the Muslim community at the murder of an Italian nun in Somalia, the fire bombings of Christian churches in Palestine or even how bout the standard beheadings of infidels. They seem to me to be more concerned with the ill advised but accurate words of a man in a funny hat than they do the resulting hate filled actions of extremists within their group that gives the rest of the "religion of peace" a bad name.
...and now some donkey advice for the Popa (big ups). Never apologize to a bully. Anyone thats ever been in rowdy bar knows damn well you never say sorry to the guy in the guinea t that bumped into you. He (and his four or five buddies hiding in the wings) were looking for an easy mark and soon as you gave way he found one. Fisticuffs almost always immediately ensue thereafter. Bullies see this as a sign of weakness. Usually I would suggest you tell them to watch where theyre fucking going next time(the F word is very important here, as it shows you mean business) but since you already pussed out theres only one thing left to do....grab a barstool and start swinging like the Big Popa that you are...throw your fists in the air, if yous a true playa.

Right.
The Holy Father [sic] says he was citing from a "medieval text" and not expressing his own opinion; nonethless, the guy should NOT have been Surprised! Shocked! Alarmed! at the reaction to his words.
Or is he just an idiot?
John Paul, at least, would never have uttered something so potentially inflammatory.
I dont know about that Anita. JP was rather vocal against the evils of our enemy at the time, namely the Soviets and communism in general.
The donkey line is that Muslim extremists are big frickin crybabies.
I was having the same discussion at Whisper of Madness (he's egyptian) and i asked him what's the deal with muslims and violence? Is it just how it is? no one over there answered me.
I heard PJB on Imus this morning. He says violence and intollerance are signs of a religion on the rise, and islam is not only on the rise, but they are commanded to spread the word through violence.
He says it's the only religion that preaches spreading the word with the sword. His example was christianity took hold in rome after 300 years of martyrdom. I don't think the muslims want to wait any longer.
Yeah, that John Paul was no pussypologist though. Stand by your idiocy, I say.
I reject getting into all the other stuff on the grounds that it might give me a headache and I have to get a manicure at 11.
the key word is "extremist" ... your average muslim is a person of peace, someone who eschews violence.
to equate John Paul's stance on communism and this guy's inflammatory comments on early-day muslim violence (thereby, in a sense, denying the extreme violence and murder perpetrated by the catholic church at nearly the same time) is, again, beyond belief.
again, idiocy beyond belief.
i saw pb&j on bill maher the other day ... the audience actually was applauding for a number of things he said on immigration. surprising for that show, actually.
You know I regret using the term extremist, as that is not the case for the majority of Muslims agree whether they do so overtly or are complicit through their silence.
...and how is that surprising? PJB is calling for W's impeachment...isnt that right up Maher's crowd alley?
yes, but he's calling for impeachment over immigration, not illegal wire tapping, iraq, etc.
the maher crowd is certainly not calling for impeachment on immigration.
You think that matters to his crowd?
...and just because you and some commie judge say the wiretaps were illegal doesnt make it so.
