Yup, that about sums it up..

In Tuesday's primary, Connecticut Democrats dumped Joe Lieberman, an 18-year incumbent, because he supports the war on terrorism. This is the same Joe Lieberman who voted against all the Bush tax cuts, against banning same-sex marriage, against banning partial-birth abortion, against the confirmation of Judge Alito, against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and in favor of the Kyoto accords. Oh yes, this was also the same Joe Lieberman who was the Democrats' own vice presidential candidate six years ago. Despite all this, Connecticut Democrats preferred stalwart anti-war candidate Ned Lamont, great-nephew of Corliss Lamont, WASP plutocrat fund-raiser for Stalin. Lamont's main political asset is that he is a walking, breathing argument in favor of a massive inheritance tax. His plan for fighting the terrorists is to enact a single-payer government health plan and universal pre-K education programs. His goal is to unite the "cut" and "run" wings of his party into one glorious coalition.

You might be right Donsky, maybe it's all about Bush, but you have to admit he is extremely liberal, and hasn't voted with the president on anything really except for the Iraq war.

This could be a problem for the dems nationally if they decide to run away from Iraq just because of this one primary.

On a side note, i like the fact that JL is running as an independent. I hope he sets a trend with this. All incumbents should run as independents if they don't win their primary. it would shake up a lot of things, probably cause a lot of changes in party leadership etc.
Short term that might be bad for the GOP, since they control congress, but long term it would probably be good for the country because it almost makes a legit 3rd party.

I'd vote for him unless somebody that wants to decriminalize marijuana usage is running against him...

JL is out for himself? probably, aren't all politicians? is the next guy any better? No

We know JL is a lib, but at least he's not a punk. You say he should have started his independent campaign months ago? why? first of all he's the incumbent, and secondly, he barely lost.

If he loses there's one less weasel on capitol hill??? no i don't think so, it's just a different weasel, and even though JL is a liberal, and therefore not good for the country in general, sometimes better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

But back to Ned Lamont.

I know he ran strictly as an anti-war candidate, but besides the cliched "bring our boys home" mantra I dont recall what exactly his plan is, well besides Bush and war are bad.

Can someone clarify his position for me?

I did not know that Ned Lamont was related to Corliss Lamont. You know, Oswald was passing out a phamphlet by Corliss Lamont in New Orleans. Hmmm...
