Thats right I'm saying it. Rep. John Murtha is a COWARD. Yes, he was a decorated war veteran, who served honorably for 37 years, for that I thank him. All that means is that he wasnt a coward when he was a young man. My grandfather used to drive a Cadillac, no disrepect to a great man, my grandfather, but in his last years he used a walker. Was he a Caddi driver at 95? No of course not. When I was 25 yrs old, I weighed 175 pounds...it doesnt mean that Im skinny today, the same applies to Murtha...he is no longer a hero. He is a COWARD. Needless to say, he is entitled to his opinion.
"Would you join (the military) today?," he was asked. "No," replied Murtha."And I think you're saying the average guy out there who's considering recruitment is justified in saying 'I don't want to serve'" "Exactly right," said Murtha

But...is he saying that America is no longer worth fighting for? Is he telling all the brave American soldiers that they were wrong to put on the uniform and take arms against our enemies to defend his and my right to be a horse's ass to bring the same freedom to others?
This whole thing stinks of cultural racist snobbery. How is it that wars that have been fought in the past to bring freedom to our white European friends were deemed great, and wars fought since then to bring the same freedoms we hand delivered to Europe to our darker skinned brothers and sisters in Southeast Asia and the Middle East are quagmires?
Or maybe hes just one of those old romantic coots, with his war stories about "back when I was your age wars were fought with pillows and marshmallow sticks and noone got hurt and all wars were righteous and just" or "how he used to walk 10 miles to school in the snow barefoot and backwards" Is he implying that when he served it was more admirable, honorable and heroic than our brave men and women today. Could he be so pompous. He must be to imply such a thing.
Maybe Im reading too much into this, or maybe Im right and the elitist lefties dont even realize their ivy tower arrogance. Maybe they do love their Country, and dont realize the harm they are doing to it with their hateful rhetoric, but it sure as heck doesnt seem that way.
Its possible to oppose this war and not try to undermine our chance for success, to not put our soldiers at further risk, to not alienate our allies, and to embolden our enemies. As President Bush said whether or not you agreed with him or this war, there are now only two options on the table..."to win or to lose" Would it kill the Democrats to take a page out of Patrick J Buchanan's playbook, who opposes this war, but is now giving the benefit of the doubt to our Commander in Chief to win it.
My parting words to Murtha are this, and I will use someone elses words in a hypotheical question this Country would ask him if it could speak...."What have you done for me lately?"

Why is this guy doing this? I never heard of him until he started this whole thing. He was never on the front page of anything, he was anonymous to the world. Oh, did i just answer my own question? could it be that this guy got a lot of attention when he called for immediate surrender, and now he likes it? Is this a cindy sheehan situation? Can someone PLEASE explain to me how it puts our troops at risk by stating your opinion. I thought the lack of bulletproof vests and proper equipment was more harmful.
How does it not? Im sure the media constantly revealing our covert intelligence procedures causes no harm or jeopardizes futures ops, while harping on the suburban housewife no scandal. Or identifying friendly nations where we are imprisoning enemy combatants poses no risk to our allies. Im sure our enemies are not emboldened by hearing our own poiliticians call this an un-winnable boogie bog down quagmire. The Dems constantly compare Iraq to Vietnam, and they are right to a degree. We were winning that war before the liberal media, the Peoples Republic of Hollywood, and the backstabbing Democratic Party turned against our own troops. It has since been revealed that the Vietcong were on the verge of surrender, but used the words of Kerry, Fonda, et al to inspire and motivate their troops to continue to fight knowing they could not win. Do you not think Al-Qaeda is putting up press clippings in their locker room to motivate their men? They know they cant win, they know the wont win, all they have to do is play a prevent defense, and let the liberal left hand them another unearned win.
Well, you thought wrong warlike! These people can't beat us on the battlefield. Just like vietnam, we didn't lose any battles there! we lost the war here, at home. It's the spirit of the soldier that has to be defeated in order to win a war. These people, like murtha, should know better. We are in a war, like it or not. There are only 2 options now, win or lose. Which side is murtha on? He's a on the side of surrender. He's a traitor.

What you don't realize is that when someone is prepared to kill himself for his beliefs-we can't compete with that fortitude. The only way to REALLY defeat them is to do a Hiroshima!!
Yes we can win all the grandiose battles. But in the trenches it's a different type of ballgame.
I just don't think politicians or whomever that doesn't think we can win has an effect on the troops-I'm sure the majority are wishing they never signed up for ROTC in the first place-especially for this meaningless action.
Its great that they have the "fortitude" to die for their beliefs. Im sure our men and women in the Armed Forces will be happy to oblige them, for as Gen George S Patton said...

It's so easy to sit back and talk about killing and stuff-especially when we are not personally involved. I have family over in Iraq who do not know what the point of this war is. At the same time they have to go out everyday and worry about suicide bombers. How many americans have to die before we realize that we should pull out? Whats the death toll trigger price?
And for what? Freedom? My freedom? I am a black man in america-i will never be completely free.

Anyway, the death toll in Iraq, after 3 years is still less than we lost in 3 minutes on 9/11. Don't tell me they're not related, they are. We have a new republic in the middle east, a new ally in the war on terror that is right in the middle of the action. The Iraqi's are being trained to take over the bulk of the work, and the more prosperous they become, the more successful they become, the safer and better their lives become, the more willing they will be to help us. The less likely they will tolerate terrorists in their midst. Already we see the desperation of Iran, and Syria. We know they're scared of our success, because free, educated, successful, wealthy people don't blow themselves up.

Once again I would like to point out that this war is Saddams fault, if he cooperated with UN weapons inspectors there would not have been a war, which was approved not only by the US Congress, but the UN (unanimously i might add) as well
