Main Entry: rac·ism Pronunciation: 'rA-"si-z&m also -"shi-
Function: noun
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
When is racism racism? Does it only exist in a Republican vacuum? Is it only white against black? Conservative against liberal? I hope I am not out line here (im a habitual line stepper), being that I am "the white devil", but isnt it about time the African-American community toss the publicity whoring race baiting n'er-do-wells such as belafonte, jackson, sharpton etc on their collective ears. I personally think in Mr Belafonte's case it is a matter of professional envy, considering for the last six years he has attacked The Secretary of State of the United States of America Mr Powell and Condoleeza Rice respectively (arguably) the 2nd most powerful person in the world, strictly because of their skin color. Perhaps if Mr Belafonte had any professional success in the last three decades he wouldnt be so resentful of the two great american success stories that they are, differences in politics aside. Day light break and Harry you should go home.

Racism is Racism when you give an old man a hard time...just like a recent phone interview done with Bob Feller on ESPN radio the other day...You can't possibly imagine what goes on in a man's mind as old as Belafonte & Feller. They lived through more, have seen more and have done more...Men who have done more good than bad deserve our respect not our opinions. They have already made up their mind...Peace out sucka fool!
Feller was asked about Hispanic players and he responded that they don't know the rules of the game...before he could respond the interviewer jumped all over him, labeling him a racist. Feller immediately hung up...This is a man that actually lived in a boarding house w/a 90 year old veteran of the civil war when he was 18 years old...He played in the barnstorming leagues w/black players when no one else would...All you do by discarding an older person's views is get them to shut up...We need their wisdom even if it conflicts w/our politics.
I also said, did more good than bad. Belafonte was a very outspoken member of the civil rights movement when it would have served him better to keep his views quiet like most did at the time...Maybe that's why he hasn't gotten as much work over the past three decades...Perhaps you do respect Castro and hiw power mongering ways, but not a man like Belafonte who probably doesn't care what you think. I admit some older people don't deserve our respect as much as others but it would be wise to hear them out first...You can't hear someone out when all you are going on is sound bytes misquoted in the New York Post. Bite Me.
Age does not equal entitlement nor does it guarantee enlightenment. Og Mandino says "To create the olive, king of all trees, a hundred years is required. An onion plant is old in nine weeks"
Fidel Castro is an old man as well, and at one point was considered a revolutionary, hero, and liberator before power drove him to tyrannical madness. By your argument I owe him respect because of his age. Take it ez greezy Belafonte sang about banana's not discover the polio vaccine. Respect is earned from actions not years. Tell Harry if he got beef chief come see me cuz im knocking out teeth keith
Like most liberals you did not answer the question. I dont know why but I expected more from you. "Racism is Racism when you give an old man a hard time" you say...wouldnt that be ageism? But how about calling someone a "black" tyrant as opposed to plain old tyrant, calling someone a "house slave" because of their political leanings. You do the math, you can use a calculator if need be.
Here we go...Conservatives lashing out when things don't go their way...I have told both of you in the past that I am not a Democrat. I hate all politicians the same. If you want to slander some people, fine. But back off or I'll call a spade a spade? Remember what you mentioned in your opening remarks Rhino...about a place where people have a piece of the piece to say what they've said elsewhere. If you want a Nazi site then go start one. If not keep your semantics in your brain...Check yourself before you wreck yourself. I won't even address a donkey because when they act stubborn I find it easier to just beat them until they move.
dont recall anyone calling you a democrat. do i smell that infamous liberal guilt cooking? i posted an opinion piece, you attempted to rebut it...i crushed you like an avalanche with my counterpoint...now you are attempting to sidetrack the issue. Belafonte is a rabble rousing racist...nuff said
