A major network's chief foreign correspondent is abducted, and the media, in my opinion, rightly declares a media black-out so as to not agitate the agitators.
Yet, when a madman shoots up a school, he becomes America's Next Top Model, and there's a reporter wearing a windbreaker with a microphone stuck in every mourners face before the bodies are even buried.
This is why the media has no business being involved, let alone leading any "national conversation" because they are inherently, the least qualified to do so.
