Turner ran against Obama. He didn't run against the democrat Weprin. Every ad I heard and every interview I heard was about Obama.
The Dems have held this seat for over a century!
Weprin and the DNC had a budget of $600,000 for media vs 30,000 for Turner.
NY 9 is a heavily Jewish area. Jews have been the second most reliable dem vote since ...forever!
Normally I think people make too much of these special elections because it's local not national but in this case honestly it's not overblown. Turner talked about Obama's economic policies and his stance and attitude towards Israel. That's all I heard, and that's all it took to win.
