Obamacare's individual mandate is the biggest story and the most important thing going on in this country right now. Bigger than Iraq, Afghanistan,Libya, Jobs, etc. Why? Because this is a tipping point for our freedom.
The Obama administration is arguing that the Commerce Clause of the constitution can be used to force people to buy insurance. Their argument is that it's for the greater good so they can and will compel you spend your money on what they think is important for society. ... Unless you're poor of course because then you will be on the government dole anyway for your healthcare.
My question is very simple. If they can make you spend your money on health insurance, what CAN'T they make you spend your money on? GM is a big investment for the American people (not by choice of course) so if they're struggling would it be OK for the government to force you to buy a car? ... only if you're "rich" of course.
Sounds ridiculous? So did the idea of forcing you to buy insurance 10 years ago.

It's a free country, and you are free to make less money if you dont like it.
I wonder if the gov't will ever make you buy a house? That almost sounds familiar. Didn't the gov't make banks loan money to people who were high credit risks to buy a house?
We should either go to single-payer, or there should be nonprofit health insurance companies like some other countries have. Read The Healing of America by TR Reid to see the different ways other countries do it.
Right. Non Profit. Non Profits are a load of shit. Tax shelters and embezzlement. CEO's make major cash and the company pays no tax. You really think non profits don't make profits? My wife works for a non-profit and the head honcho makes 450,000 a year. Yea. OK.
My problem with this health care reform argument is two fold.
1. it's not health care reform. it's health INSURANCE reform.
2. For some reason the left wants to copy an inferior model.
The U.S. system may not be perfect but it's the best system in the world. The single payer system does not work as well. Sure everyone is covered in theory but it hasn't resulted in better care. Like anything else in the world when it's "free" it's over used and the system is over worked and abused.
You have to WANT to be ignorant to not understand this.
You don't WANT to be ignorant? Then what's your excuse?
