I think the reason that liberals hate the Tea Party so much is that the grass roots revolution we are now witnessing makes the 60's era hippies look like a bunch of dope smoking slacker hippies.
I mean sure, Ive seen the DVD of Woodstock, looked like fun. To quote Austin Powers "as long as people are still having promiscuous sex with many anonymous partners without protection while at the same time experimenting with mind-expanding drugs in a consequence-free environment, I'll be sound as a pound!" But looking back besides inventing the tie-dye shirt what real change did they have anything remotely to do with.
They were and are historically irrelevant. The Civil Rights movement was all but over before they "tuned in, turned on, and dropped out", and President Richard M. Nixon is more responsible for ending the Vietnam War then some Country Joe and the Fish song.
That's why they are jealous, and why they lash out in anger. They are afraid. They once thought they were speaking truth to power, but now they are the power, and its freaking them out dude.
As Yoda once said; anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they.
...or maybe its just the brown acid.

Nixon prolonged the Vietnam War for four long years. More people died after he was elected than before. And all to attain what he and Kissinger privately called a "decent interval" between our pull-out and victory by the other side.
