Judge Feldman* overrules Obama's halt on the six month osd moratorium. Chaos ensues on MSNBC. Gibbs states (and paraphrasing) "it wouldnt be prudent to continue drilling until we know what happened"
Fair enough statement. Except for one thing... we know what happened.
Is anyone fucking paying attention to the Congressional Hearings? Anyone at all in the White House??? Why even hold them then if they're not on a "fact finding" mission. Oh yeah...these are the same people that asked Rafael Palmiermo if he took blue diamond pills to catch blood flow. These are not serious people.
It's real simple, if ya listened to ExxonMobil and other drilling experts, BP fucked up. They will pay. They used cheap shit and a pipe burst. Cheap no good and good no cheap.
So common sense would say that any rig using the same plumbing, take a timeout in the corner..., the others up to snuff....carry on.
The issue at hand is plugging the hole. Stop the fucking leak. Seriously. Whatever it takes... do it. Now.
The cleanup? Easy.
Send the half million army of census workers to the Gulf in hazmat suits with clipboard shovels....clean the Gulf and claim to have saved ONE BILLION jobs. I hope the caps implied a Doctor Evil voice, if not try again.... ONE BILLION jobs.
Give or take a billion.
Sue later, investigate later, prosecute later.
Plug the hole.

you need to stop listening to bobby jindal's tirades.
there is a difference between drilling wells and pumping oil. in fact, a drilling rig is different from a a pumping well. after the drilling is done, the rig is changed out and a new rig is built that manages the pumping processes.
there are thousands of rigs in the gulf that are currently pumping oil and the moratorium does not have anything to do with them. nothing, nada, zilch. there are a very small number (probably far less than a hundred) that are currently drilling and probably are subject and vulnerable to the very quality control flaws in engineering and construction that has so severely afflicted the Horizon rig and it makes complete sense that these small number of rigs should be shut down until it is determined that they are safe to continue their work.
investigate those rigs that are still drilling now (the very small percentage of the rigs in the gulf, like i said before). fix the problems now before they turn into more full-blown problems (dare i say more catastrophes). save lives. and don't even worry about prosecuting because the job would have been done right in the first place.
oh yeah. and plug that damn hole. place the boom correctly. get more skimmers in there. and show some serious respect for our natural resources. because that's gone. it's gone forever.
oh yeah. and let's hope hurricane season stays away this year.
Great rant, but did I say drilling and pumping were the same thing? No I didnt, so itd have saved you some time to just say you agree with me.
