Watching this really made me more appreciative of unions, and the teacher's union in particular. He's right it is about power, and without unions the teachers wouldn't have any, any more than workers in general did before unions. He complains that the teacher's union lobbies lawmakers, as if every corporation doesn't have an army of lobbyists. Thanks for reminding me which side I'm on.

Your welcome.

Of course the difference between "every corporation" and the teachers unions is that the teachers and administrators are paid with TAX DOLLARS. So all of the money they use to lobby for more benefits and more pay from the tax payer comes from the very same tax payer.

You gary being unemployed and someone who also gets welfare from the tax payer would of course be on their side. After all you don't actually contribute so it's not your money.

Bottom line. the teachers unions have too much power and the teachers and administrators in public schools in general are over paid.

This is a fact that can not be disputed.

Common sense tells us that if there is a waiting list hundreds and sometimes thousands of people long to get a particular job (as there is in suffolk county NY where I live)then the pay is mighty generous.

However the tide is begining to turn. there is a straw that breaks the camels back after all and i think we're just about there.
