Religion of Peace

There's no war on islamic extremists. In fact I'm not even sure there is such a thing as and islamic extremist. I mean what could be so extreme about killing people because they don't share your beliefs? Is that really a big deal?

I've been watching The Tudors recently, loosely based on English history. It seems that Islam, or the fundamentalist portion of it, is in the same place Christianity was in hundreds of years ago. One hopes that the Islamic countries will evolve in more liberal and secular directions.

Dude, exhale the bong hit and tell me what your point is?

One hopes that Islam and Islamic societies will evolve as Western ones did with the Reformation and the Enlightenment.

Liberal values, good. Religious extremism bad.

South Park, funny.

Tudors? tv show?

Christianity was NEVER in the same place that Islam is in now and your attempt at moral equivalency is idiotic and disguting.

Not surprising from someone who gets their historical perspective from tv, but still really stupid.

I dont know Rhino, I think hes got ya on this one. The idiot makes a very strong argument about loosely based cable programs.

Islam is now as it has always been, a religion of violence.

"Loosely based on English history". gary just keeps on keeping on with the loss of his credibility on everything.

My point, which apparently is beyond your intellectual level, is that Christianity has evolved beyond the level of radical Islam. A few hundred years ago, Christianity was killing witches, burning heretics at the stake, and engaging in torture. Do you deny it?

So now you have moved from "Islam" and "Islamic Countries" to "radical Islam". You're all over the map, dude. I have no idea what you mean any longer.

Ah well I might as well try to explain myself to ducks.

individuals or individual people were burning people at the stake or drowning people who they thought were witches.

Christianity doesn't instruct anyone to kill someone for being a witch.

Islam instructs it's followers to go out and convert people and if they refuse to be converted to KILL them.

You can't compare the superstitions of people hundreds of years ago to the faithful followers of Islam.

Stop trying to make excuses for them. they are following their religion to the letter.

i think we should kill their leaders and enslave anyone who doesn't conform but that's just me.

Let's just turn them into ducks so gary has someone to talk to.

Really, it was individuals who conducted the witch hunts and the inquisitions? I thought it was the State and the Church. And they quoted the Bible, "Suffer not a witch to live." Thankfully we have evolved as a society beyond that.

Your argument is flat out wrong... are you implying that moslems were treating their women better during the witch trials? ... or just bashing Christianity for bashings sake without any historical contect...

Well, I'm not a christian religion scholar, or actually any other kind of scholar for that matter but i'm pretty sure that's good advice.

personally i'm not opposed to drowning witches.

Of course I would wait till I actually saw some bitch turn my friend into a frog or something before i tied her ass to a bag of bricks but that's just me.

Superstitious people hundreds of years ago thought some unfortunate women were witches and so they killed them. There is no moral equivalent here. I know you feel the need to make excuses for the enemy of your country because you're a liberal pansy boy like our president but the truth is they're just evil people who follow an evil and cruel religion.

That's it. End of discussion.

People believed in witches cuz it's in the Bible. Of course there's a lot of stupid shit in the Bible. My point actually was that Christianity has progressed and evolved. Maybe one day Islam will too.
