Michael Vick isn't a very good quarterback, but is innocent until proven guilty in America. The spic had to remind me of this as I almost let my racism get in the way of better judgement but I still think he sucks at QB (and guilty) and dog still tastes good.
There was a security checkpoint at my subway station last night. Three attractive white women getting their purses searched. I recall some speculation by the CIA that Aldrich Ames MIGHT have revealed Plame's status to the Russians. Amitage, Rove and Novak definitely revealed it to the entire world.

regarding robert byrd, to be honest, i think he's mostly an eccentric flake and, as they say, the king of pork politics.
yet, politics completely aside, he's really old. i kind of look at him the same way as i do my 86-year-old father who has alzheimer's. he was a major, major asshole his entire life and i always wished he had died before my mother did. that really pisses me off. but now that he's old and feeble and doesn't know where the fuck he is half the time, i feel pretty sad for him because for all his faults he is still my father.
and he's really lonely. i wish he had a dog.

Funny how dems always write off their own trangressions as eccentricities or in the case of the other murderer in the Senate, a minor traffic infraction. Now regarding Vick, there is no doubt the crimes that he is alleged to have committed are barbaric, barBARIC, BARBARIC but I also smell a scent of yankee elitist racism at work here as well. Bob Barker has been telling us to cut off and out the reproductive organs of our pets for years, in the upper crust sport of thoroughbred racing we routinely put animals down that are unable to perform, we think nothing of taking our children to see animals in ther "natural habitat" behind CAGES and the circus is nice day out for the entire family but not so much fun for the elephant in the shriners hat... etcetera and so on but god forbid some uppity upwardly mobile negro has dog fights the whole country is aghast.

the neutering and spaying of pets is not a cruel act. it is meant to reduce the vast number of homeless and hungry animals we have on our streets. i had a neighbor when i was growing up who, every time his cat had a litter, tied the kittens up in plastic bags and threw them in the river to suffocate and drown. nice. in that case, don't you think the guy should have had his cat spayed? or would that have been too cruel?
i think that if michael vick were white the outcry would have been the same. i agree with you, however, dog fighting and cock fighting is seen by many as a 'red neck' type activity. but i see that as more classist than racist.

As far as spaying and neutoring goes, well it seems that the animal kingdom never had a problem with it before we got involved wiith our infinite wisdom and vanity decided to domesticate them as accessories. My position on it is a bit out of the norm as I think people with pets by and large have serious mental problems and use the poor dumb animal to fill a void in their life (present company excluded of course) as a life companion or babysitter and a non-working domesticated animal is the most evil form of cruelty. At least Vick gave them a fighting chance to earn their keep.
As far as the race thing, Im not so sure, Turk Wendell a former pitcher (and cracker)for the Mets used to wear a rather elaborate necklace of bones and teeth from animals that he had killed and it was just chalked up as being a good' ol boy.

The outrage over the Vick story is a fucking joke! Everybody living in the inner city has known that Blacks have been fighting dogs for 30 years now. In San Francisco they do it on school yards after school.
There was a story in the paper a long time ago about how a dog fighter sent his girlfriend, dressed very nicely, to pick up pets advertized in the paper by people who could no longer keep them. He used those dogs and cats as bait to train pit bulls to attack.
Barring that, the kids in Black neighborhoods feed cats to pit bulls for fun. My Black co-worker has witnessed this in her neighborhood. Whitey's fault of course!
