Will anyone try to deny that if this was Christians or Jews or God forbid those evil BOYSCOUTS that the ACLU would be all over this and the left wing whacko's of the 9th circuit court would be right there with them?
Not even Gary can deny this one!
Come on Lilly, i know you're out there somewhere. Please try to defend this one so i can call you names or something!
Political Correctness: Seems the ACLU couldn't care less that a San Diego public school has set aside 15 minutes of classroom instruction time for Muslim students to pray, while non-Muslims twiddle their thumbs.

well. i seem to recall (correct me if i am wrong) that you are for prayer (christian, that is) in the schools ... and the 10 commandments being posted. if that is the case, then this is entirely consistent with what you believe.
Actually, i'm not "for prayer", or the ten commandments being posted in schools.
I am against removing the ten commandments monuments that have been in place forever just because some people are offended by it. I don't believe there should be prayer time set aside for anyone during the school day, but did defend the coach who was fired for having a prayer before a football game.
That is a far cry from ostensibly having a specific class and lessons on any religion.
More importantly, the point of the post is that it shows that the true agenda of the aclu has nothing to do with the bill of rights but everything to do with destroying America as we know it. If they were truly concerned with the "seperation" bullshit they would up in arms on this one, but they haven't lifted a finger.
This is an outrage!!!! Not serving pork is un-American.
I figured one of you libs would make that exact argument, missing the point entirely, which is that the ACLU have an anti-Christian agenda.
i don't think they have an anti-christian agenda per se. i think they have an agenda that defends the rights of groups that are outside of the mainstream, dominant culture to freely practice their culture and speak freely. do christians need an advocacy group? at this point i think not.
Anita stop trying to defend them. You're digging a bigger hole.
From the aclu website it says:
Your First Amendment rights-freedom of speech, association and assembly. Freedom of the press, and (freedom of religion supported by the strict separation of church and state.)
emphasis added
Per se? No actually thats pretty much what they are all about.
Listen Im not gonna call you a commie on this one because I have no doubt that your intentions are good, and my bet is that although you may agree with a majority of the ACLU's actions, your reasons could not be more different.
Unfortunately this ignorance makes you an unwilling accomplice as they set the moral fabric of our society ablaze.
The ACLU is an organization whose sole puprose is to destroy the American way of life by aggressively attacking that which has been the moral backbone in our great Nation's history... religion.
You can dig up all the quotes you want from our forefathers questioning religion or interpret(twist) antiquated wording any way you want but it does not change the fact that their deeds and their actions created a Judeo/Christian based system of law prevalent in the structure both physically and ideologically of the very Government that they created.
To deny this is to deny the truth, and ipso facto makes your entire argumet a lie.
Rhino says that he is against removing "ten commandments monuments that have been in place forever." But in the most notable recent case, involving Judge Roy Moore, the monument had been in place only since Judge Moore put it up in the first place.
I tried googling to find out the ACLU's legal position, but only came up with endless wingnut sites. I am guessing their position is that it is a "reasonable accomodation" to the the Muslim's religious practices. Muslims I think are required to pray twice a day at certain times, facing Mecca. Christians do not have this requirement.
Nonetheless, I am troubled by allowing Muslim but not Christian prayer, so I say NO prayer in the schools.
Well gary, i was speaking in general terms, and i'm sure that wasn't the most recent, just the most public example.
You don't know the ACLU legal position because they don't have one! They haven't gotten themselves involved in the case because they don't care about "seperation"!
You can "guess" whatever you want, but you're wrong.
Open your eyes for once!
you go pray now...i'm gonna have a wild turkey 101 for breakfast, a beer and some flakes for dessert and wait to fuckin die...i worked all that out from my fancy book learnin and name-droppin
Although I may not be classically trained as a psychiatrist and furthermore have no clue of the transgressions committed against you, whether you were beaten, bullied, or abused.
Whatever it was that backed you into the corner of playing the "anonymous" tough guy role I would like to assure you that whatever it was....
It is not your fault.
Seriously...
Its not your fault.
No really....
Its not your fault.
Dear Unclassicly Trained Psychiatrist:
Nothing "tough" at all about finding solace from one's memento mori (fancy book learnin for knowing you're going to die) in a bottle or a bag. But, do tell, what's it like to believe in an invisible man in the sky who decides everything and has already granted you eternal life? It must be great, no?
If it's so great, why are you so angry? You have already pleased God to the point that he has granted you ETERNAL LIFE. You should be very content. I'd be content if I KNEW I was going to live forever. I know I'm not going to, though.
As for past abuse suffered, well I dunno...what would you consider sucking Roman Catholic priest's cocks for pieces of Bazooka Bubble Gum? And then graduating to working the parking lots outside the Pensacola Assembly Of God churches? Decent work if you can get it. I ain't complainin.
This is a first. Turns out I was wrong.
It's your fault.
anon--donkey is a self-hating atheist.
he posted about it months ago.
something like, "i'm an atheist, but i hate myself, so i'm going to defend people who persecute atheists for their lack of belief."
something like that.
catholics (or former catholics -- can one really be a "former" catholic, however?), as i can well attest, are a screwed up bunch filled with self-loathing and huge guilt. give the man a break on this one dnsk-anon.
Lily has one L.
