Quote

"I had always hoped that the younger generation receiving their early impressions after the flame of liberty had been kindled in every breast...would have sympathized with oppression wherever found, and proved their love of liberty beyond their own share of it."
-- Thomas Jefferson (letter to Edward Coles, 25 August 1814

... and to those apologists that continually point to our foreign policy, Israel, George Bush, and way of life as excuses for Muslim extremism I would kindly point them in the direction of an article by Hitchens on how Thomas Jefferson dealt with Muslim terrorists.

To those that wont read the article I will give the Donk notes. It has nothing to do with radical Islam, or the behavior we call "extremism" it is what their koran says is pious. In other words, before there could be any excuse to kill Americans, they took it upon themselves to murder innocent Americans anyways. Its standard procedure. Im not saying all Muslims are evil, but the ones that are evil are not out of ordinary and thats why generally tolerated in their culture.

I wonder if there were any hippies back in the day going to rallies with signs that said "Jefferson is King George"
