"The Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, believes the war in Iraq is lost. There is nothing about that conclusion that bothers Reid: He is as blasé as he is certain, as resolute in pursuit of defeat as Churchill was in pursuit of victory. Last November, the Democrats seized control of Congress on the pretense that they wanted to change our policy regarding Iraq but not -- as they, to a man (and a woman) insisted -- to merely cut and run. We knew they weren’t being truthful then, but too many people were taken in. Now all pretense is dispensed with: we can see the man behind the curtain." cont'd

If we lost the war, how come we are still there? Oh wait, he wants to bring the troops home. Wouldn't that mean he lost the war? I mean, if he wants to bring the troops home before there is even a conclusion at all, it would mean that he is surrendering, not our military but him...what a loser.
I should update post, he is now saying that we have won the war and mission accomplished (as dictated by zogby) but that we should still surrender anyways.
I love that shit. I still haven't heard any of the dems answer the question
"what happens when we leave?"
They can't tell the truth (that the whole thing goes to shit) because that would be a reason to stay, and they can't lie, because everyone would think they're either lying or stupid!
That's what i would ask every presidential candidate if i was debating them! Talk about a quagmire, they're fucked either way!
"what happens when we leave?"
1)American soldiers will stop dying in a lost cause.
2)Hopefully, the new Democratic President will encourge negotiations between the various factions within Iraq, and in the region.
You are a fraud. Do you really expect me to believe...
1) That you give a shit about the troops? If it was a dem war, you and I both know it would be whole 'nother ball of wax. I never hear you prattling for our troops to come home from Kosovo, for example. Hmmm.
and as far as...
2) Negotiations? Thats so brilliant it just might work. Wait a minute here, isnt there a democratically elected gov't in place representing all sides in Iraq and ongoing negotiations for stability? Oh yeah there is, jackass. You can thank the Armed Forces of The United States of America, Uncle Sam and your President George W.Bush for that one.
But alas...
Talk is just a 70's band singing your mamma's alright if it doesnt have the military backing it up killing terrorists in an effort to create some semblance of peace.
...and the sooner pussies such as yourself stop crying about the need for "a political solution and not a military one" and realize that the military is a pretty fucking major part of the political process and not necessarily independent or seperate entities the sooner we can get out of that fucking sandpit.
My guess is that the machine of war has saved more lives than having a nancy pansy assed tea party chit chat ever has.
If you and the dems have your way and we leave tomorrow, the war will continue, but you will have made the world a much more dangerous place. Can you live with that thought just to score your political points and exact your petty partisan revenge on the raison d'etre of your entire phony pacifist political identity... a blind hatred for your President.
You disgust me.
It disgusts me that American soldiers and Iraqi civilians are dying in an unneccesary war based on lies and the insane imperial ambition of the neocons.
