It's Tax Season

So get ready for all the stories about the "tax cuts for the rich".

The only FAIR tax is a FLAT tax.

"Far from 'favoring the rich,' as many believe, our tax code is massively redistributionist, sending literally trillions of dollars into low-income homes and far less into wealthy homes. This may be good or bad, depending on your point of view, but the fact is it's happening. And those who argue that recent tax cuts 'benefit the rich' ignore the reality."

or how about this... only tax purchases (nat'l sales tax) and income from investments.

and eliminate the deduction for interest paid on mortgages!!!

and tax the hell out of tourists.

No, to a national sales tax because it would stifle business, PLUS that would mean that people who are actually poor and currently pay NO taxes at all would have to start paying.

No to increasing taxes on investment income or capital gains. It would stifle investment and risk, and therefore do more harm than good.

No to eliminating the interest deduction because it would hurt the poor the most.

No to taxing tourists because it would crush the tourism industry.

The flat tax plan that Steve Forbes proposes would not force the poor to pay any taxes, and it would result in an increase in revenues.

eliminating the tax deduction on mortgages interest would affect the middle class the most, not the poor.

That's right, Nita's right. Miss C can only afford to pay her property tax when she gets her tax return. Otherwise she will have to sell her house. That mortgage interest deduction is the only thing saving Miss C's ass.
