Well I know the freedom of speech issue will come up and the right to religion or fanaticism- but we also draw the line on behavior that is threatening or violating right?
I have had this argument many times and I say that this is not very different than,say, a group that threatens and plots against an abortion clinic or threatens other violent action. Then people tell me its the same as wanting to take free speech from the KKK. I dont think its the same. I think terror sympathy is bullshit.
I think its one thing to tolerate expression and diversity, another to promote the death of Americans or solidarity with people that killed thousands of our citizens.

Yes there is a line. In fact, if this guy was just talking i would still want to kick his ass but wouldn't be in a hurry to prosecute him, however he says he's providing training manuals to our enemies. Isn't aiding our enemies treason?
Also, how does the state of Ohio keep him on the payroll? shouldn't this be enough to fire him?
I would say he should be fired. Sounds like he is indoctrinating his students not teaching them.
I disagree with the author when he says this guy should be arrested and tortured. Torture is a violation of U.S. and international law and anyone who practices or authorizes it should be prosecuted.
I agree, the difference is that he's not just a wacky nutty guy exercising his "free speech". Its not just talk.
I dont agree with torture either, but I'm also not a fan of complacency. I don't think anyone should be intellectualized out of seeing threat for what it is. This should be dealt with.

Torturing noncitizens is also illegal. The UN Convention on Torture applies to "all persons."
I know you're not big on the UN but we are a signatory to the Convention and so it is the supreme law of the land, per the U.S. Constitution.

Some liberals may take positions that you regard as treasonous or anti-American, but that doesn't meant that every traitor is a liberal.
