Congratulations to Willie Randolph on doubling his salary for a job well done.
Thats the beauty of basing compensation on merit. It has nothing to do with his gender, his race, his creed or some bullshit tenured union contract . When given a chance to manage a big league team...Randolph delivered and "Willieball" had the Amazins one base hit from the World Series.
See you at Shea on Opening Day April 9th!

the mets are successful despite randolph.
how many boneheaded pitching changes did i see?
granted, it may be due to a small sample size as i'm a CUBS fan and thus can't stomach watching the mets due to repeated childhood trauma at shea and the horrible nightmare my father dutifully passed down that most people call 1969.
but randolph made plenty of bad decisions, just like every manager.
i will give you, however, that he is infinitely superior to toothpick mcdoubleswitch (our affectionate moniker for mr. dusty baker).
and if you're gonna blame a manager when the team sucks, you might as well give him credit when they win.
I thought you were talking about Valentine when you said McDoubleswitch, although truth be told I was a supporter... his problem was he knew the game too well -- too smart for his own good...sometimes you just gotta let em play as demonstrated by the Napmaster in the Bronx.
