Any Way The Wind Blows

It seems that quagmire has lost its charm (its nice to see libs getting new material) and has been replaced by the excellent track 1 from Use Your Illusion II. Prior to the start of the Iraqi War, The Rhino and I oft argued about the potential for civil war and if I dont mind saying so myself I cant recall too many people besides myself (please allow myself to introduce ...my...self) that were even mentioning the possibility back then. The left just aint smart enough and those on the right were in denial. Self fellating kudos aside, just as I believed then the inevitability for sectarian violence was a reason to avoid entering Iraq I feel just as strongly now that it should not be a reason for our retreat. In fact its even more reason to stay and put our boot print on Iraq. Better ours than Irans. Trust me on that one.

It is yet another catchphrase used by people with little understanding of its meaning and consequences in its current context to further their agenda of attacking our President. Am I being partisan here by my blanket assertation? Youre god damn right I am...becasue* Im right. How else can you explain the democrat's support of our involvement in the Balkans under Clinton. They cried then that we must stop the civil war, we must stop the sectarian strife, we must stop the genocide just as they are now rallying for our involvement in the Sudan, yet the Iraqis whether they be sunni or shia and Kurds deserve to suffer in their eyes.

I opposed the bombing of Kosovo, not becasue as the left accused the right of blaming Clinton for wagging the dog but because we were backing the wrong side. That being said some on the right did in fact trivialize Clintons mistake in Kosovo by lewinskying the issue. I hope my President is getting his nob polished in the Oval Office... I sure as hell would, but I do not expect him to support the alqaeda backed KLA after they had declared war on us and had already struck at a number of our interests. Its historically incorrect hypocrisy at best and worse case its the blatant sabotaging of a sitting President at a time of war.

Speaking of hypocrisy....

Another new "plan" from those on the left (to be fair TAC is as well...youre beginning to piss me off PJB) is the call to open directs talks with Syria and Iran. The same Syria and Iran bending over backwards to break the camels democratic back in Lebanon. The same Iran that has called for the destruction of our ally Israel. The same Iran that has been at war with The United States of America for decades. Yeah thats a great plan. Theyll be a huge help.

But heres what pisses me off and makes me believe the left do not believe a single fuckin word coming out of their moufs. Regarding N Korea they say we should talk to Kim alone, regarding Iraq and Iran we should talk to everybody that'll listen. In simpler terms...do the the exact opposite of what Bush is doing. That certainly was the DNC platform for the midterm elections. Vote for dems because Bush sucks.

They are full of shit, and it'll become even more apparent when Bush leaves office as their ideology will have ceased to exist. What will they do when they dont have ol' George to kick around anymore. They are the hate Bush party, nothing more.

"There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."

JFK quote from an excellent article of Tony Blankley, editorialist of the Washington Times and regular of the McLaughlin Group for those unfamiliar. Sometimes he's smart money and sometimes hes a jackass. This was one of his better ones. He nailed it.

It seems to me that we should negotiate with Iran, Syria, the insurgents--anyone except Al Qaeda, and make the best deal we can to stabilize Iraq and cover our withdrawal. The alternative is to stay while the situation gets worse and worse.I'm reminded of a line from the Godfather:

MICHAEL

But won't they take that as a sign of weakness?

VITO CORLEONE

It is a sign of weakness...

"Sonofabitch! Do you know who I am? I'm Moe Greene! I made my bones when you were going out with cheerleaders!"

I know it has nothing to do with the post, but it was always one of my favorite lines of both godfather movies. (i know you think there was 3 movies but we don't talk about that)

Zontar the Good...I think you've got something there. Make them an offer they can't refuse.
