This may or may not come as a shock to some, but Im not really a Fox News type of guy. The reason is three fold. One... I am the choir. Two... I am wicked smarterer than their own air personalities. Three... besides Brit Hume none of them really have a sense of humour. Im a wild and current events kind of guy, I dont need some humourless hack circus barker telling me what I already know.
If Fox is the conservative network, then MSNBC is the uber duber liberal militant wing of Democratic party. I watch it everyday, and besides Imus and Tucker I hate every single person on that channel. Actually I hate Imus too, but he has great guests. Olbermann is a tool. Matthews is a tool. Scarborough is a tool. But I watch them nonetheless for the entertainment factor, which is their incompetency, as well as to see how the other side thinks.
The reason I mention this is...where is the coverage of the Reid scandals? There is none. Im not going to equate Foleygayte with Reid but come on, scandal is scandal...corruption is corruption and nary a word is ever said about the continuous onslaught (it never ends) of shadiness from Reid. If anything I think it would make for better television. The Reid story has it all....VEGAS, bribery, shady backroom deals, mobsters, front row championship boxing seats, showgirls, million dollar condos and land grabs. Foley was a flaming perv emailing flaming perv teens. Both are wrong, but theres a reason The Sopranos is a number one show and Queer Eye aint.
Hmmm? Now I wonder whats the reason that the Reid scandals dont warrant the same non-stop coverage as Foley.
EE-Aw!!

Obviously your question is rhetorical, but i'll answer it anyway. LIBERAL MEDIA BIAS.
Here's another little tidbit of info for you. I was listening to Levin yesterday, and he cited a poll (i don't know who did it) that said 60% of Americans consider themselves conservative or very conservative as compared to 40% who consider themselves liberal or very liberal. I don't think we'll be seeing this poll in the ny slimes.
rhino, on the surface that poll seems flawed. if 60% of those polled say they are conservative and 40% claim to be liberal, then that means that 0% consider themselves moderates. and i would assume a very large percentage of americans put themselves in the moderate category. i personally reject the "conservative" and "liberal" labels because i have some conservative leanings as well as some liberal leanings, which, i guess, make me, umm, well, a hybrid? independent is probably the best way to describe it.
anyway that's my 2.7876 cents.
I dont know if anyone watches Hardball, but Im telling ya he comments to every single god damn dem operative on his show how the Foley story seems to have "legs" Yeah Chris, youre the leg ya jackass!
The liberal media bias doesnt concern me as much as it used to, as there are now alternatives to it, but ever since Vietnam and Nixon they have gotten too big for their britches trying to sway policy and elections as opposed to reporting on it. Now thats a novel idea...report the news!
Bush must have banged somebodys daughter/wife and never called her to incure such acrimony...first the decades old DWI, then memofake, now Foleygay.
Maybe "October Surprise" isnt such a good name anymore, as we know there will be a Republican attack piece coming from the MSM every election...not really a surprise any longer.
anita, i was driving, and i was flicking back and forth between espn radio and levin, so i didn't catch the whole thing, but i assume the questions were framed to only have 2 answers. something like
If you had to label yourself, would you say you're closer to
A. Liberal
B. Conservative
either way, i have been saying for years that the majority of the country is more conservative than liberal, which is why the republicans have dominated the whitehouse.
Okay...I've ventured into Donkey country...perhaps you've overlooked the obvious. SEX!!! What brought down Jim Baker...all his corruption? Noooo...SEX! It happens over and over. It's really all America gives a shit about. The Foley scandal is more widely known than anything that has gone on in Washington for years. Now if he's killed someone...he'd probably not even had to resign.
Yes Fox blows, and so does MSNBC. MSNBC Liberal media? You've got to be kidding. Incompetent media maybe.
Good point. But were talking about gay sex, and not even real sex at that...gay cyber sex, wheres the appeal there? Certainly not as appealing as Jessica Hahn's Double D's.
However I still think that if a showgirl(s) were to come out tommorow with anything other than actual video proof of a Reid affair, the story would be largely ignored.
Welcome to Auroraland Dude.
A showgirl? That would be GREAT!!
"gay cyber sex, wheres the appeal there"
obviously a lot of people find it very appealing ... which explains all of the numerous on-line "dating" services, many of which cater to a gay male clientele.
think of (former) governor jim mcgreevy of nj. married with kids, in the closet ...
Anita whats your definition of alot? By all accounts homosexuals represent anywhere from, what 5 to 15% of the population. Not exactly a huge market share.
...unless of course you are talking about Jenna Jameson girl/girl videos.
Now explain to me how the round the clock Abramoff or DeLay accepting "illegal" contributions story was a sexy story? Yeah hand me the lotion, thats some hot stuff there?
Good point donkey. And another prime example.
Delay doing business with abramoff= big story every day for months
Reid, and his sons doing business with abramoff = what? did you say reid was doing business with abramoff? who knew? Oh nobody knew because it wasn't a sex story? what?
October 17, 2006
Who is picking sides? Havent you noticed we blast both sides. We bashed Foley and now we bash Reid. Just pointing out how others, meaning the media dont, at least not to the same degree.
Well that IS the crux of the biscuit. Abramoff made me ashamed to don the fedora.
Which leads me to Reid's four lobbyist sons....
dah dah dah dah
dah dah dah dah
Well considering that my hatter says I dont have the head for a bowler, what choice do I have...
donsky, i wasn't making light of the abramoff scandal. I understand that it's big news, but again, reid was doing business with abramoff as well! How deep did it go? do you know? i sure don't because everything was focused on tom delay.
Lets call a spade a spade here. reid has been involved in not just this latest land scheme, but multiple schemes and shady business deals, but we don't hear about it.
Foley is in the news every day, but when the dem congressman who actually had sex with the underage kid dies, we hear what a great guy he was from kerry, kennedy, and frank? not a peep from the msm about the hypocrisy here??????
I'm done with foley, i don't care about reids shady deals, or hasterts for that matter. But the truth is that they don't get the same treatment in the msm. Especially when it's a month before the elections!
one more thing donsky, hasterts deal was disclosed by HIM in his financial statements. From what i understand, the land is over 5 miles away from the proposed highway, and wasn't part of the deal.
Now i'm not stupid, and in fact i'm very cynical so i'm going to assume that he did what he did to profit from the deal somehow, but he didn't hide it.
Personally I think they are equally crap-a-licious except that Fox News has Bravado and Smugness sprinkled on top, they are both inadequate excuses for news agencies.
And self rightous assholes who contribute nothing to dialouge can be found on all news channels, for example
Glen Beck
Keith Olberman
Bill O'Reily
Matthews
The list goes on, these guys should be sent to a remote island where they can satisfy each others "burning desires"

Donkey Tune: Bowler Hat
It's called a bowler hat.
I have no wife.
The swallow flying through the sky
Is not as swift as I
Am, flying through my life.
You pour the milk before the tea.
The Dutch ambassador is no fool.
I must remember that.
I wear a bowler hat.
They send me wine.
The house is far too grand.
I've bought a new umbrella stand.
Today I visited the church beside the shrine.
I'm learning English from a book.
Most exciting.
It's called a bowler hat.
(bringing out a watch)
It's called a pocket watch.
I have a wife.
No eagle flies against the sky
As eagerly as I
Have flown against my life.
One smokes American cigars.
The Dutch ambassador was most rude.
I will remember that.
I wind my pocket watch.
We serve white wine.
The house is far too small.
I killed a spider on the wall.
One of the servants thought it was a lucky sign.
I read Spinoza every day.
Formidable.
Where is my bowler hat?
(putting a monocle to his eye)
It's called a monocle.
I've left my wife.
No bird exploring in the sky
Explores as well as I
The corners of my life.
One must keep moving with the times.
The Dutch ambassador is a fool.
He wears a bowler hat.
Interesting tidbit I found on the net...
"In cricket, bowlers who took three wickets during a game with consecutive deliveries would be given a hat or cap (traditionally a bowler hat, but not nessesarily) - hence the name hat trick. The bowler could then walk up to the crowd and collect money in his hat."
