No Shame in His Game?

As I document in MuscleHead Revolution, Judith Levine, the academic who released the book, Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex, argues that it is harmful to protect children from sexual activity. As I point out, she goes so far as to encourage adults to not think prudishly about sexual activity between adults and children. She even advocates for the "rights" of children to be able to "give their consent" for "legal" and "healthy" sexual activity with adults.
One might think that Levine is just a nutcase, except that she was published by the University of Minnesota Press. Her book was endorsed by Dr. Jocelyn Elders who also wrote its forward. Elders was the Clinton era, surgeon general.

Replace except with because and it would be more accurate. I couldnt think of two more damning indictments than those.

Sex is natural
Sex is good
Sex with children...
...and you should have your balls cut off and fed to you through a straw.

I don't understand......Hector, are you suggesting that Clinton has something to do with this sick wacko?
Please explain.

no warlike i'm not blaming clinton for pedophiles. and donsky, i'm not saying liberals like pedophiles.

I will say however that they do tolerate them, and more to the point if it's only the extremists, why did clintons surgeon general ENDORSE it?

here's the thing, the liberals weren't endorsing gays or gay marriage when it wasn't popular, but that's not the case anymore.
and if it could win her an election i think hillary would endorse nambla.

If enough people come out with this defense, eventually some crack pot judge (9th circuit) will find a "right" to pedophilia in the "living and breathing" constitution.

As you would say, "umm, OK, Rhino."

As I am not a Liberal (best description is Socialist-Libertarian), I won't presume to speak for them. I will, however, give THIS leftist's viewpoint. Statuatory rape laws are there for a very good reason and should be enforced to the utmost as should ALL child abuse (yes, fellahs, that does include Dad hitting you with a belt...no, it doesn't make a man out of you; it corrupts you.) If Dr. Levine believes sex between adults and minors is OK, then she's got a screw loose. If Dr. Elders agrees, she, too, is bonkers. I'll leave it up to the individual institutions that employ these people to decide whether the topic has academic merit in debate.

That Elders was once a Democratic Party functionary hardly damns the whole party, just as -- oh -- Hyde, Scarborough, Reed, etc's exploits don't damn the whole Republican Party. Believe me, the Democrats do a fine job of making themselves seem ridiculous at every chance they get. They don't have the WRONG core values; they just don't have any values at all. No values, no guts, no nothing.

Where your side goes wrong on this is that despite the occasional hooting and hollering at a strip club, YOU (maybe with the exception of Ann Coulter) ARE ALL SCARED TO DEATH OF SEX. And I am talking about adult sex here. Everybody has their own style and their own needs and fantasies and those can get comfortable with above dig it and those that don't preach abstinence.

And the abortion debate is really about sex not abortion. I don't agree, but can accept when a person tells me that they believe abortion is murder. Who am I to argue? When it gets extended to stem-cell research, contraception, Janet Jackson, and Howard Stern I start to smell a rat. The rat smells like scared folk who either never get laid or don't know the first thing about it or are so laden with shame that they've gone all simple.

I can't say this any better than a rock-ribbed Christian Conservative from Alabama of my acquaintance who's never voted Democratic in his life. He says: "I'm a c__t breath, a_____e eating, f___ing all day in all-ways m_____f____r. I can't have enough women. Look, you're either having sex or you're not."

Umm, OK, Kelso. Saved you the typing because I'm a nice guy.

ummm ok kelso....

anyway, i don't think you actually know what you're talking about, and in fact, i'm not sure I know what you're talking about or even what the hell you just said.

Here's the positive thing, we all agree that sex with children is bad, and that anyone who doesn't agree with that is a sick mofo!

so thats a starting point anyway.

For heavens' sakes, Rhino, didn't you at least finish high school? Have you ever read a book that wasn't pre-approved by Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity (and listen I find a lot to like in the way the Pats -- Buchanan and Buckley -- express themselves). If you want to pretend to be ignorant, that's fine, but it's obvious from your blogging that your are very bright and know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's going to get "um, ok, Kelso" here again, so fasten your seatbelt. Perhaps, it has to do with your religious upbringing and my a-religious upbringing in the way we see sex. We certainly agree that adult sex with children is an abhorrent crime that ought to be prosecuted with extreme prejudice. But what is so confusing about the rest of the comment? It is absolutely clear that the Cultural Right has a big, big problem with "normal" adult sex. If you think otherwise, you also think Victor Zambrano is better than Scott Kazmir. Ipso facto and QED.

ummm ok kelso. the thing is, u don't actually know anything about me.
You presume to know too much, and reveal yourself a lot more freely than i do myself.
I do not know what is meant by the "cultural right" but if you mean the religious right, i disagree.
Also, "normal" is very subjective. For some people normal is hetero-sexual sex between married couples. For others it's heterosexual sex in general.
For you it might be swinging, or bdsm. i don't know, and i don't care, like i said at least we agree that pedophilia is a bad thing.
