Hot Dog - The Post

First off I would like to congratulate the Japanese Juggernaut Takeru Kobayashi on his sixth straight Nathan's World Championship. Yet another example of the successful foreign policy of "Peace Through Strength", as sixty years ago we nuked the sushi out of his country and now today he's sitting side by side in Coney with Joey Chestnut from Joisey throwing back some dogs.

So in accordance with The Aurora's new found policy of "Peace Through Gluttony" we suggest you do your part to promote World Peace by eating a few weiners. Im doing my mine as a client from "upstate" recently shipped me a thirty pack of Hoffman's Germans (donkey's favorite dogs) and Ive enjoyed one every day so far in July. So in closing I would like to quote Frank Zappa...

"I ate a hot dog
It tasted real good"

Happy National Hot Dog Month and God Bless America.

i didn't realize it was hot dog month, but i did have couple of dogs this weekend. Plus i lost track of where i'm supposed to be on the double meal deal, so i've been eating double EVERY meal. I think we need to get a schedule written down, i'm not going to be able to keep up this pace!

well, i certainly don't want to NOT participate in this all-american festival. but as i am a vegetarian (for the most part .. i am ashamed to admit that i was recently caught red handed with a slice of *non-canadian* bacon ...).

but, i've done my penance (three hail marys), and my vegan priest has advised me to move on with my life.

so, miraculously, i've found an alternative ...

Tofu Pups: http://www.lightlife.com/pups.html

thanks for the *heads up* on this most eventful of events.

i don't understand vegetarians. why?

I dated a chick for a long time who was a vegetarian. I convinced her to have a hot dog at a ball game once. she took one bite and 5 minutes later she got sick!

well, for some people it's a moral issue ... i.e., don't eat our fellow animals; for others it's a health issue ...

for me, i just intuitively don't like to eat meat. like your friend, it kind of makes me sick. my stomach can't handle it. i'll have a bite of chicken now and then (and as i said, the occasional slice of bacon ... yum) .. but that's about all my stomach can handle.

right now, i'm going through loads of non-fat yogurt. perhaps i'll move on to something less ... bland ... some time soon.

oh, and i'll have an occasional egg as well ...

how do you survive at BBQ's? Ribs, chicken, burgers, and of course the dogs! just thinking about it makes me hungry.

easy: macaroni salad, cole slaw, potato salad, three-bean salad, french fries ...

hmmm ... after reading about national hot dog month, i think it is my patriotic duty to have a hot dog this coming weekend at my nephew's college graduation barbecue.

if frank zappa can do it, so can i ...

Im not even going to comment on the tofu dog reference.

Im pretty sure I invented a new dog variation at Fly's brothers St Patricks Day party. Dogs-n-Mac-n-Cheese have always been one of my favorites, but until that drunken evening Ive never attempted the reverse...putting mac-n-cheese on a hot dog. All Ive got to say about that concoction is that I may very well be a frickin genius

Honorable mentions

Plain

Ketchup

Chilli Cheese Dogs

Slaw Dogs

and of course the classic...

Bean Dog Casserole

Just be glad that the Fly didnt see it.

His clan look at Hot Dogs as part of the family, mind you a part of the family that you cook cover with condiments and eat, but part of the family none the less.

Very serious business in that household. Ive witnessed fistfights over the classification of cheddarwurst in that casa.

New Jersey has so many HD establishments worth mention that I will only name the top three...

1.)Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzville (don't let the name of the town dissuade you...they are a bland dog to many but the condiments often make the dog, eh?)
2.)Rutt's Hutt in Clifton (deep fried dogs...nuff said)
3.)The Hot Grill also in Clifton (Clifton the mecca of dogs but also the home of the Texas style weiner...are weiners in Texas this good? HG is definitely the best of this variety)

Honorable mention: Callahan's sign read, "So Big... So Good." and before it closed it was my favorite hot dog place. Fried to wrinkled perfection and topped to taste, Cal's dogs were the best I ever had...***see tear running down my eye as I recall them***

PS - If anyone ever calls anything with tofu in it a hot tofu, a tofu dog, a hot tofu dog or any other said nonsense, I would ask that they remember when they were a kid and still had taste buds still...and then apologize.

PSS - I tend to celebrate hot dog month all year so I will have to double down this month. If any of you have ever run out of rolls on which to place your weiner of choice, may I suggest that you use an english muffin toasted preferably, cut the dog in two and lastly covered with baked beans...just a tip from the big dog!

PSSSS - Donkey, before you give a recco for the Cheddarwurst, you should put up a disclaimer that you are not responsible for any squirtage related injuries.
