A Byrd In The Klan Is Worth Two Against Bush

"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either."

Saying this gets Trent Lott run out of Washington.

But applauding a former Ku Klux Klan recruiter (is that the politically correct term for cross burner?) is just honky dory. Who once said in regards to the desegregation of the military, that he would rather "die a thousand times" than fight alongside "race mongrels", and in his first term joined the failed filibuster of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Once again the liberal double standard rears its ugly head, Strom and Trent were a racists, Byrd was just a misguided youth, who mistakenly joined an organization that inadvertently burned crosses and murdered a sect of people because of the color of their skin. Me? I threw rocks at rail cars and smoked some doobage. Byrd, well, he lynched uppity negroes. Crazy kids!

As bothersome as that its is, its not the only problem I have...

Number one, although I appreciate the class shown and the high road taken, why is it when protocol dictates kind words be said of a colleague on the other side of the aisle, the Republicans really lay it on thick. Too thick in my opinion, yadda yadda yadda congrats to Robert K Byrd on a long career blah blah blah, then move on, BUT NOOOOOOO! This is what we get from the Republican suckasses.

Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa, "He is a scholar and devotee of the doctrine of separation of powers, something which seems to have been forgotten lately,"

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, "patriarch of our Senate family."

Sen. John Warner, R-Va, "No man hath a greater love for this Senate."

Sen Bill Frist, R-TN, "The dean of the Senate, one of the greatest orators"

Sen. Mitch McConnell R- KY ""No one has had a greater career here,"

When will they learn playing nice doesnt work with Democrats, as they rarely return the pleasantries. People think Congress is nasty now, wait til the Dems gain control, the frickin animals.

Secondly, nobody should be allowed to serve for forty eight years. The lack of term limits promotes greed corruption and laziness. Case in point, politicians like Don Young R-AK, and Byrd are the worst perpetuators of wreckless spending due strictly to their long tenures. In recognition of this, Robert kkk Byrd has recently been named "Porker of the Month" by the Citizens Against Government Waste. Its kind of like "Employee of the Month" at Mickey D's except you dont get your picture on the wall, but as a small consolation you get roughly (in dr. evil voice) one billion dollars of taxpayers earnings to piss away on things like the Robert Byrd "Rope Swing."

Congratulations to the mountaineers, you are even more idiotic than Massachusetts. I mean teddy is a complete jackass, and he did kill someone but at least that was an accident (i think). this scumbag actually recruited people to be in a terrorist organization.

And as for the republican in name only (RINO):( senators, i'm really not surprised. i have no hope for that party either.

By the way, how comfortable could you be if you're a black man living in west virginia and you know your neighbors keep voting for this guy?

Its sick, is what it is. He's a jerk. Party doesn't matter, a jerk is a jerk. but then again, they are all jerks.

So when people bring up Bush, you bring up Clinton. When people bring up anyone else, you throw a Kennedy log on the fire? Just keeping it straight.

toasty.

And term limits are needed now.

Yes like when people mention hurricanes for the next 10 years everyone will compare it to katrina. So when you say bush is a bad president, we mention the worst president in the last 10+ years which is clinton.

The kennedy thing is just for fun, and because it's so easy.

He did say and do those terrible things. He is guilty and has admitted his wrongdoings. In an interview I saw yesterday he said so quite passionatly. Given all he has done, he has also continually recieved the votes of black americans because he works hard for his state and brings money home. money and job. After all thats his job. he is also a self taught expert of the constitution and the seperation of powers. He has manytimes been the only one standing in the way of the concept of the unitary executive. Everyone has the good and the bad, his are just furhter apart than most.

lefty are you really defending this guy? What about strom thurmond? did you defend him too? did you think trent lott got railroaded for saying nice things about a man at his 100th birthday party?

Of course not, because you don't like their politics! You are a political whore, as are most on the left. everything is just moral relativity to you. Yeah sure he used to burn crosses and paint swaztika's but now he gets welfare benefits for his state so he's ok.
Sure kennedy was cheating on his wife as a 35 year old politician AND driving drunk AND killed his mistress in a car wreck, but now he stands up for the environment and he hates Bush so he's alright.
Sure clinton raped a couple of chicks, AND was also cheating on his wife while he was the president AND he lied under oath to the grand jury, but he shouldn't have been impeached because he was the "first black president".

I don't buy into the moral relativism. I understand that everyone makes mistakes, but the leopard doesn't change his spots
