Wooden Soldiers

Heard something tonight that we all know, but that gets lost in the scuttlebutt of this whole polemic volleyball match which is our United States political system...
its our money in their pocket.

Far as I can see both of us sides isnt too happy bout the way theyre spending it. I see these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT rallies across the country on the news and it gets me thinking. Im immigrant born, so theres no bigger supporter than me, but this is in an ILLEGAL invasion. Thats all Ill say bout that now, another rant another day. This revolucion is inspiring me. I have no studies on hand but from what my seismic readings are telling me is that the crowds were large, and Washington is listening. Why? I dont know. Future dem votes? Cheap labor for GOP biz? What exactly are they selling this country out for....we pay the taxes and they dont even listen to us, yet illegals catch their ear????

Memo:

To: Washington

From: Us

Subject: We pay the bills...smarten up.

Now heres the plan. We march. Everybody does it, apparently its the savvy political thing to do. I will take the burden of being the Rosa Parks of this movement. We will be known as Taxpayers Against Xenophobes (whats that? we are?) ...okay we will be known as Taxpayers Against Xylophones.

AND WE MARCH ON WASHINGTON!!!

unforeseen problems have delayed the march. It looks like apparently taxpayers have jobs and the next day off is El Memorialez Dia, and thats no good for us. Were going to the beach.

Stop being lazy America. The system is failing and were letting incompetents run this Country. Has to end. Parties have died before. Died for a reason. Died very quickly. Noone in DC is getting it done. Very few right now that I like on my side, and Im sure other side is just as unhappy with theirs. Only one thing to do...

WE MARCH!!!

About these marches. Why aren't they marching in mexico? I mean the corruption and incompetence of the mexican government for decades is the reason why they come here. Why not march there to try to change THAT government? Why don't WE march there?

Oh yeah thats right, we need to be at work, but that would be something, if we all went down to mexico and marched there to change that government.

Yeah, but now you can carry your smack around without having to grease any palms down there.

I'll go! I'm so lonely.

I find it more enjoyable to grease palms down there, but thats just a matter of personal preference.

I think the illegal immigrant thing is a big loser politically for the Republicans. The hard right won't be happy unless we deport all the illegals and build a 2000 mile wall. The Republicans were making inroads with Hispanics but that's shot to hell. Bush loses on both ends.

I agree Ferris Bueller. I also agree with the Dobbsian logic that states it is absurd to tackle reform without tackling enforcement. But it also seems absurd to contemplate a wall or mass deportation when we have a runaway deficit and we are at war. Republicans spend faster than a Donkey in Vegas. Again I say, take the damn Fed's allowance away until they learn how to behave.

Why do it now? Why pull this out for midterms?

And where's my stupid hundred bucks from Santorum? I have my eight cylinders to feed today.

So what youre saying is that we arent supposed to walk and chew gum? The Iraq War is a problem. The illegal immigrant invasion is a problem. The deficit in proportion to GDP isnt that big of a problem, nothing another bull run wont help to erase (just ask Bubba) but the GOP do need to ease spending...and Bush needs to Con-Up and pick up his pen for once.

Donkey spending in Vegas has perks at least, just got a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses in the mail from Rio. Only cost me 10k. Sweet deal. Maybe I have a future in Washington.

And since the ILLEGALS are a drain on the economy, it would be better for the economy to deport them as well.

extremely wishful thinking on your part donkey. i'm a little surprised at your naivete. maybe you can pull out some of your voodoo economics.

What about like when orphans used to be shipped off to farms to work to get them out of the city. What about sending them to Russia?

Or better yet, round them up and force them to go fight in Iraq if they love America so much, eh boys? And bring our white folks home to the suburbs?

Or, eat them. No trains, no detention camps, no deportations. Just the Outback Steakhouse.

I couldn't quite bring myself to the point where I could write alternatives to Outback Steakhouse. I can only go do far with hating. Too much patchouli.

"Something, d-o-o economics. Anyone? Anyone?"

"Bueller? Bueller?"

What exactly is your point? I mean besides calling me a naive witch doctor. It must be nice living in your little catch phrase world, but the world I live in the nature of cyclical economics generally take care of themselves. While I agree we are spending too much you must also acknowledge that we are at war and spending increases during those times. However the stock markets are at or near all time highs, unemployment is down, and although a cause for crying by the SUV soccer moms...we pay about half of what those in Canada and Europe per gallon or litre for you globalists.

Frye? Frye? Frye?

Aw Donkeyhue, you didn't read my stellar feature about the financial apocalypse Sunday!

yes, corrections occur, bull markets and bubbalicious surplus. But what about the retiring baby boomers? What about disasters, more war? There is a point where the hole can get too deep, and economists on BOTH sides are saying we are almost there.

Q: How many economists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Seven plus or minus ten.

i agree with you on the nature of cyclical economics. i remember how, just before the dot-com bust, people were so pink in the face as to be saying that we were "beyond" cycles. that it would just be up, up, up and away. at least people are more grounded now.

obviously i'm not an economist, but the facts are there: we have a president who walked into office with a surplus which he gave away through 1) tax cuts and 2) war spending. the debt he has amassed in a few short years is greater than the debt amassed by all the previous presidents combined. if you can honestly tell me the magnitude of the national debt is not putting a little scare into you, that's great. if you think that what's happening (as a result of many combined forces) in our economy is not at some point going to hurt a lot of people, you are a far greater optimist than a lot of people.

cheers.

I did read your post. It was very interesting.

You guys do a lot of condescending disagreeing, but back it up with little that is helpful.

Thank you.

i've determined that the donkey's general philosophy might be stated as follows:

some people are like slinkies: not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

but i could be wrong. i am, after all, an optimist at heart.

and when told to pipe down, i generally pipe up. after i've taken the time to regain my bearings.
