Lighten Up St Francis Of Asinine

Anyone remember that blockbuster about the huge fish that swallows a man whole? Robert Shaw was awesome as Jonah. How bout Tim Robbins thespiatic tour de force in Jacob's Vision of a Ladder? My personal favorite was the Last Supper scene in The Big Chill with that kick ass retro soundtrack.

Im not going to attack the church (not now at least), but for the love of pete lighten up. Its a movie. I am one of the few to have not read the Davinci Code, but I gots to believe it cant portray the Catholic Church any worse than they've done themselves. It strikes me as just a smidgeon hypocritical that a religion that places so much on a piece of literature that is chock full of stories and parables attacks the entertainment industry so fervently.

That reminds me of one time when I broke the cardinal rule of discussing religion with a cousin's boyfriend from the old country. Somehow it came out that he was taught the Bible literally and believed it all to be fact, and he was an otherwise intelligent person. After I shattered his world with a few examples of how parables were used to convey a message...Im telling ya they guy wanted blood. Not mine mind you but his local priest that had deceived him all those years.

Now back to my original rant. As I was saying , ease up. Its just a movie. Its apparent that whoever who have working Public Relations for you, flat out sucks. Heres the deal, as repayment for all my years of Catholic schooling I will do you a solid pro bono. Heres my advice...

Keep your mouth shut, its just a movie.

It makes you look like small minded tight asses with something to hide.

You give free publicity to those you want censored....not very smart eh?

Your boycotts rarely work, and in fact have guaranteed this to be a blockbuster (see: Passion of the Christ)

Clean up your own house before you worry bout others

i'm skeptical of bestsellers in general. i don't like to read what 'masses' are reading ...

I was going to read it until I found out that it was the second book in a non related character driven series, and being the chronological stickler that I am I passed on TDC until I had read the first. I decided to go drinking instead.
