WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. John Kerry insists on proving that he can't be trusted. He made his political debut in 1970, joining the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, then accused American troops of war crimes in Vietnam -- and tried to deny he had done so. During his ill-fated presidential campaign, Kerry's hyperventilated claims to be a war hero were called into question by his own comrades. Now, the Democrat defeatist has published his formula for victory in Iraq: Just quit.

Quoting a piece by Oliver North. lol laughable. That guy was a traitor. I know personaly. John Kerry read the accounts of Veitnam soldiers in Detroit and conservitives misquoted him as if he was making those claims himself. Time you stop trotting out that horse Rhino. Kerry also saved the life of a man who is happy to tell the tale. Thats certainly isn't made up. The withdrawl Kerry talks about is not out of the area of iraq, but out of the cities. Our presents is a irritnat to iraqi stability. Those elected iraqis need to know they have to get busy. Giving them a date will encourage them to do so. Just like any deadline we have in our lives. I'll listen to General Tony Zinni over the likes of Oliver North anyday. If I were in combat I would rather have a hero like John Kerry at my side than a partyboy like George Bush anyday.
You know personally?
Yeah ok, but anyway, kerry is a traitor, i know personally, and so does anyone else who read or saw his testimony in 1971, the lies he told about his own countrymen while they were still fighting and dying in battle!
who misquoted him then? was it a misquote when he compared our soldiers to the armies of Genghis Khan?
Was it a misquote by those dastardly conservatives when he said that his countrymen were murdering and raping hundreds of thousands of innocent vietnamese on a daily basis?
was it those bad conservatives that made him say that? Is it the mean old conservatives that won't let him apologize after all these years?
Good luck lefty, you're trying to defend the indefensable. Kerry is a scumbag traitor to his country.
I know personally! and i can back it up with facts, his own words!
He was reading the testemonies of other soldiers, not his personal expieriences. he never said they were raping thousands of baby's.. thats ludicrous. Here, educate yourself with the actual transcript.

I was in Honduras and other locations in central America. I saw the weapons being snuck in , the conscripted child soldiers, the political prisons. These were the doings of Oliver north and Negroponte.
I read the transcripts already, I know the whole story. He's a traitor to his country. Why was he in Paris meeting with the enemy during the war? that is treason! why was he giving the testimony in the first place? Why was he trying to hurt the war effort? Why did the enemy admit that they gained hope and held on after hearing his testimony? What is treason?
What about kerrys book? Did you know he wrote a book whose cover has the flag upside down? What does that mean? Do you want me to get his personal quotes? Should i copy and paste passages from his book that he has tried so desperately to hide but STILL HAS NOT APOLOGIZED FOR?
Educate yourself first, learn about who this scumbag is and what he's done in his life. The fact that he is a senator is a disgrace to our country.
Ollie North is a Hero.
An upside down flag means disstress. Our country was in disstress because the people wanted out of the war, yet our government kept fighting it. They kept dropping bombs in laos and Cambodia as well. People die everyday there even still because of the bombletts that remain. If you read the transcript, why do you still say that Kerry said those things? The enemy gained hope from Kerry's comments? Show me that quote. From whom? Why was he trying to hurt the war effort? Duh! Because it was wrong, and immoral. Please do post quotes from his book that you are angry about. He shouldn't appologise for anything, he did his tour, and served his country. Unlike the lout in charge today.
In his testimony before Congress on April 22, 1971, Kerry stated, "My feeling, Senator, is undoubtedly this Congress, and I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but I do not believe that this Congress will, in fact, end the war as we would like to, which is immediately and unilaterally and, therefore, if I were to speak I would say we would set a date and the date obviously would be the earliest possible date. But I would like to say, in answering that, that I do not believe it is necessary to stall any longer. I have been to Paris. I have talked with both delegations at the peace talks, that is to say the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government and of all eight of Madam Binh's points it has been stated time and time again, and was stated by Senator Vance Hartke when he returned from Paris, and it has been stated by many other officials of this Government, if the United States were to set a date for withdrawal the prisoners of war would be returned."
Treason
General Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnam's most decorated military leader, wrote in retrospect that if not for the disunity created by such stateside protesters, Hanoi would have ultimately surrendered.
Treason
"There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50-caliber machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare. All of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions...."
Lies and Treason or....
Kerry, by his own account, violated the UCMJ, the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Code while serving as a Navy officer, and he further stands in violation of Article three, Section three of the U.S. Constitution.
either way, treason scumbag
Wasnt it Jenga Khan?
Do you think Kerry sees John O'Neill (A True American Hero)in his nightmares. O'Neill beat Kerry down in 1971 and he beat him and his his Presidential ambitions down again in '04.
1st Beatdown
I would ask the same question about Iraq that John Kerry asked about Vietnam: "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"
Lefty, i wasn't call you a scumbag there at the end of my post. I just wanted to clear that up because it could be read that way.
I know you didn't call me that Rhino, our discourse is always fairminded. I hadnt seen that quote from the Veitnamies general before. Maybe he's right. But at some point in war, people have to call for an end to it. It has to start somewhere and there has to be someone to stand up.
Lefty even giving you that point about calling for an end to a war you don't believe in, Kerry committed treason by meeting with the enemy in paris. He was clearly still enlisted in the service, and was committing treason.
He either lied about atrocities he committed or he actually committed atrocities himself, and told the world about it to hurt the cause of his own country. Again, committing treason. he is a bad guy, bottom line.
And now, while we are fighting in another war that he disagree's with, he is once agian going against his country. He is smarter about it now than he was then, but he is still the same person.
I am really tired of the lies about John Kerry. I have read the transcript of his testimony. Rhino quoted some of it. He quoted the testimony of some soldiers who witnessed war crimes. Clearly some soldiers did commit war crimes. And he said that he took part in war crimes in the sense that he took part in policies such as free-fire zones, etc that were war crimes. The real war criminals were the senior American officials who created those policies. The Left was right about Vietnam and is right about Iraq.
John Kerry wasn't a war criminal--he was a war hero and an anti-war hero, despite the lies of the Swift Boaters.
Gary those were HIS quotes, he didn't qualify them by saying he meant "policies" and he also went to paris to meet with the enemy. He committed treason. FACT
He committed war crimes or he lied and said he committed them, either way, he told the world about it in order to hurt the cause of his own country, that is a FACT.
Also, just to set the record straight, kerry tried to avoid going to war as well. He applied for multiple deferments. So lets not act like this guy was any kind of patriot like Pat Tillman or Ollie North.
I've read the whole transcript. Hell, you quoted part of it. Clearly he though free-fire zones were a war crime. Who set up free-fire zones? Not John Kerry or the soldiers in Vietnam. Could he have phrased things more clearly? Maybe but his meaning is clear. And wealthy white guys from prominent families who didn't want to go to Vietnam didn't go to Vietnam. Ask George W. Bush.
And Oliver North is no patriot. He's damned lucky he didn't serve prison time.
And also don't forget that he used these "stories" or "lies" to get elected to the senate. It's not like he did this and then went into the private sector and lived his life. He used his testimony and his supposed activism to get a job. My personal opinion and that's all it really is, is that he really only wanted a cushy job. He rarely votes on any important issues and is about as dedicated a hard worker as the other hippie slobs who used the anti-war effort to get a piece of ass (or in Kerry's case, a job). I don't think he represent the "real" anti war movement any more than the Yippie LSD zombies in San Fran did at the time. There were real civil rights leaders & anti war protesters who did what they did out of a desire for change because they cared about their fellow man. Somehow Kerry just comes off as an insincere phony. And that's why he lost the election. I think you guys are picking the wrong horse to back...his time in the limelight never should have been and now it's over...move on.
Oliver North wasn't following orders given to him too? He didn't serve his country? That is what you are propping Kerry up for doing...
Clearyly gary you think you know that kerry didn't mean what he said, and how you know that is CLEARLY no clear. but anyway, fly is right multiple points, 1, kerry did what he did for his own personal gain, and he sold out his comrades to get a job, and some pussy probably.
Also, if it's ok for kerry to do these things because he was following orders why is it different for ollie?
And finally, Kerry tried to get deferred from military service to continue his studies in paris. Bush went into the national guard. I don't know if you think that's the same as studying in paris, but i think the NG is a fine way to serve your country.
I salute Oliver North for his service in Vietnam. Not so crazy about his involvement in illegal drug and gun running in Iran-Contra although I acknowledge that he was "following orders."
I highly recommend Oliver North's auto-bio "Under Fire"
I highly recommend Daniel Hopsicker's "Barry and the Boys" (about Barry Seal and Mena) where he calls Oliver North a murderer.
