The downright hysteria of those on the left trying to bring down this administration without looking at the facts is downright hysterical. Its even more amusing to watch for me as someone who opposes the President on many of his policies but am not blinded by pure hatred of the man to see how misguided and incompetent the dems are in their opposition. They are a party without a plan. They are a party of hallmark ideo-illogically one-liners such as quagmires, wiretaps, racism, Vietnam, and in the case of the Vanity Fair model ... LEAKS! Well sometimes its necessary to reveal classified information, like when politicians that voted for the war before they voted against it ask for the information that led everybody to believe that Saddam had WMD's.
Sometimes theres such a thing as A Good Leak.

I don't care so much if Bush selectively declassifies or leaks part of the National Intelligence Estimate (while a year later the whole thing was still classified.)
Publically out a covert agent to smear her husband, Joe Wilson, an honorable man who had the nerve to challenge their lies, is another matter. Bush may or may not have known that Plame's identity would be leaked, but he must have known after the fact. Did he admit to such when he was interviewed by the Special Prosecutor? I strongly doubt it.Can you say obstruction of justice? I know you can.
Bush is going down. I just hope he doesn't take America with him.
If by honorable you mean Wilson is a liar, than I agree.
He lied about his wife emasculating him by getting him the assignment.
He lied about Saddams attempt to obtain uranium from Niger, which the UK and even France stand by to this day. The key word here is attempt, noone claimed he accepted delivery but the attempt was made by all accounts besides Joe "I drank mint tea for eight days in Africa" Wilson
His theory that because he didnt find evidence is not only imcompetently arrogant but dangerously neglectful of his duty. I hope he enjoyed his fifteen minutes, as I have a feeling history will not remember him so kindly.
No, Wilson didn't lie. The GOP talking points are lies.
Rove picked the wrong man when he decided to smear Wilson. Joseph Wilson wasn't afraid of Saddam Hussein, and he sure as hell wasn't afraid of Karl Rove.
Ben, i agree that the press is biased, but the rest of what you say is wrong.
1. Joe Wilson is not a conservative, in his book he describes himself as a political centrist, yet points out an association with The Nation, which last time i checked was was way left of the ny slimes
2. He lied about who sent him to Niger, he claimed it wasn't his wife, and he lied when he said that President Bush was lying when, in his 2003 State of the Union address, he pronounced these words: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
The British have consistently stood by that conclusion. In September 2003, an independent British parliamentary committee looked into the matter and determined that the claim made by British intelligence was "reasonable"
There's still more: As Susan Schmidt reported in the Washington Post: "Contrary to Wilson's assertions and even the government's previous statements, the CIA did not tell the White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa intelligence."(source c.may NRO)
The Senate report(bipartisan Senate intelligence committee report 2004) says fairly bluntly that Wilson lied to the media. Schmidt notes that the panel found that, "Wilson provided misleading information to the Washington Post last June. He said then that he concluded the Niger intelligence was based on a document that had clearly been forged because 'the dates were wrong and the names were wrong.'"
The problem is Wilson "had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports," the Senate panel discovered. Schmidt notes: "The documents — purported sales agreements between Niger and Iraq — were not in U.S. hands until eight months after Wilson made his trip to Niger." source NRO)
There's more, but this is the comments section. Suffice it to say this guy is a fucking liar!
1. If Joe Wilson says he a centrist then that's good enough for me.
2. His wife didn't send him to Niger--she didn'thave the authority to do so. He was sent by the CIA.
Republicans have tried to twist and distort his words to call him a liar. Karl Rove lies about and smears anyone who stands in his way.
Rhino seemed to sum it up for me, but I will add
1. Nothing wrong with your wife getting you a job (im constantly searching for a sugar momma myself) but no reason to lie about it.
2. If youre talking about the same docs that I think you are. Everybody agrees they were forged, but that wasnt the end all be all of the evidence. Some even have said that the forged docs were a plant to discredit the actual evidence.
3. Joe Wilson wasnt the issue, but he made himself the issue
..and thats the problem with politics today. Everybody seems more interested in getting their five minutes with Russert and a book on the nyx bestseller than they do with serving the best interests of their Country.
Gary, facts, those pesky facts do matter and a bipartisan Senate investigative committee has now established that Wilson has had very few in his possession.
And neither do you.
His wife suggested the trip, and recommended the trip. it was her idea. whether or not she made the final decision doesn't matter, he claimed she had nothing to do with it. He lied.
Look up the BI-PARTISAN senate intelligence report, it states pretty plainly that wilson is a liar!
Or do you think the dems on the intelligence committee are protecting rove?
You see, that's the problem with you conspiracy guys, nothing is out of the realm of possibility, even if it makes no sense. That's why i use the moon landing thing as a perfect example, it doesn't make any sense that it could be faked, but you can't convince the conspiracy people no matter what.
As to the Senate Intelligence Committee's statements on Wilson. They were contained in the "additional views" section by Senators Roberts, Hatch, and Bond (all Republicans.)The Democrats would not sign off on them. So much for facts.
Who is more honorable and truthful, Karl Rove or Joseph Wilson? It really is a no-brainer.
I'm no expert on j. wilson, but i think he was first appointed by Bush 1.
Either way, you are correct about the media.
Its even more amusing to watch for me as someone who opposes the President on many of his policies but am not blinded by pure hatred of the man to see how misguided and incompetent the dems are ...
I like this a lot. It goes with my tenet, to take the best attitude to take for the man on the field; that he or she prefers perfect sanguinity on the part of those discussing the war, preferably in that openness that we have fought so hard for, which is another tenet that keeps a lot of people alive. Metallica, Kanye, that's the stuff that's played on Armed Forces radio every day, and that's the attitude I see reflected in this blog. Thanks.
