No Smoking

I have been hearing all day on CNBC about Scotts (the lawn care company) . Apparently, they have a new policy in place that says if you smoke, you're fired. Not if you smoke on the job, but at all. Also i just heard that it includes spouses as well. Their rationale is health care costs. What they're saying is that the health care costs are too much and that smoking causes too many health problems.
I don't smoke, i don't understand why people smoke, but this seems crazy to me. If anything i would say maybe if you smoke you should have to pay more for your insurance than a non smoker. That seems reasonable to me but to say you and your spouse can't smoke or you're fired seems nuts.
Where could this go? What about drinking? How about Obesity? What if i don't wear my seatbelt? I have a feeling we're going to be hearing a lot more about this subject. Stay tuned...
