MLK, More Than A Boulvevard
And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.
Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
on a side note as an American with roots in Northern Ireland, I want to express extra thanks to Dr King for the inspiration he provided to my family and so many other Catholics in their struggle for civil rights during the 70's against British oppression.

where are the men like this in the world? do they still exist? is anyone out there right now comparable to MLK? I don't mean black people, i mean leaders. Is there anyone in the world anymore who can inspire a nation to change?
It seems that everytime a leader appears to be a good person and advocate for the Americans they represent...well they disappoint. John McCain appeared to be that guy but we've all seen the route he's chosen to take. MLK wasn't a politician in the sense that he was elected...but imagine what he could have done to lead if he hadn't been killed.
Thats what i mean fly. Politicians can't do it, because they have to get themselves elected, or re-elected. Once they run for office, they will whore themselves out for votes. I haven't been inspired by a politician since Reagan. Am i too jaded?
