Utter ignorance of history enables any war with any casualties to be depicted inAnd that's the key. The media is so biased against this president, and against this war, that the only coverage is negative. All i can say is thank God that the NY slimes wasn't run by socialists during D-Day.
the media as an unmitigated disaster.

This just in.....
We're winning the war in Iraq. I know it's hard to believe, i mean it's been almost 2 years and we've lost over 2000 soldiers. Of course in WWII we lost more troops sometimes in a single day. Howard Dean thinks we can't win, Kerry thinks we're terrorizing the people, Murtha wants us to leave because we're being shot at. Well, i read a quote today that sums it up.

good point, thank God the times were just commies during the deuce
Define "winning", please. What would you consider to be "victory" in this war?
And if the media is "so biased"-where are you getting your winning the war information?
It's going to be hard to get those people to conform to our "world order".
What would we do if we were attacked, occupied and then told how to live? Regardless of whether it was right or wrong we would fight it.
These wackos actually believe they become martyrs when they die. I wonder if we have the same fortitude.
Sure gary. i guess you haven't had much experience in it, so i'll define it for you. it means Successful, victorious. or, the opposite of losing. We haven't lost any battles, we've killed more of the enemy than we've lost. We have had multiple free elections, including the one thats going on as i write this, and the most recent poll numbers have an overwhelming majority of Iraqis feeling quite positive about thier future. In fact the only place we're not winning is in our own media. Victory is the act of winning. the final victory will be when we have completed our mission and there is a free and democratic Iraq. And to answer your next question, i don't know when that will be, and i don't think we should leave until we have achieved it. I hope i cleared that up for you gary, and i suggest that you come over to the dark side so you can start winning yourself.
Warlike, it is difficult, but not impossible to find the good news. Of course you can't find it in the main stream media unless it is so overwhelming that they have no choice BUT to report it. like the poll i mention in my response to gary. That one was too big for them to ignore. and to answer the rest of your question, Sadamm FORCED them to live the way he said, we don't do that, we ALLOW them to live the way they WANT to live. As i've said over and over, given the choice between freedom and oppression, people, all people will choose freedom. Wouldn't you agree?
But where is everybody getting their info from? Am I supposed to believe some media over another?
And Rhino why is it that you believe positive statements over negative?
Aren't we all a little biased(I mean very) in our own way?
I get all my info from the Weekly World News. Did y'all know Batboy is distant kin to James Carville

I agree to a point Rhino. But the line between ALLOW and FORCED is very thin. Because if we don't allow it we are going to enforce it.
I honestly feel that the Iraqis did not want to be freed. If they did they would of terrorized Sadaam at the rate they are doing now. I know Saddam was a tyrant but those Iraqis are not afraid of power they seem to only fear Allah. And they sure aint afraid of us.
dont confuse the decent law abiding Iraqi people with the camel banging terrorist alqaeda scum.
warlike the news is there for everyone, it's just about what we CHOOSE to report. the ny slimes knows that we win every battle, but they only report on the U.S. deaths. what is the last battle we won? how many iraqi scumbags did we kill this week? i don't know either, but i heard this morning that 4 marines were killed by a roadside bomb today. Am i biased? hell yeah i'm biased and so are you. but the main stream media isn't supposed to make the news, or allow thier bias to enter into it. To me it's like boxing judges, i don't expect it to be exactly on the up and up, no one can TOTALLY keep their bias out, but if it's an overwhelming victory for roy jones jr. in the olympics, and the judges in s. korea give the victory to the s. korean fighter, it's just not right. and if you didn't see the fight yourself, you just look at the newspaper the next day and see a L in roy jones column.
warlike thats my point. there are 25 million people over there, most of them don't say boo to us. they don't hate us, they don't fear us, they welcome us. 70% according to the most recent polls think things are looking very good. but you think the rate of terrorist acttion is big. if even 1/10th of the poplulation was against us, we would already be dead. and they tried to rebel against sadamm and he gassed them. i don't know about you, but i think death by poison gas is a big deterrent to revolution and terrorism.
Gary Im more interested in how you would define "winning" as far it pertains to Iraq
BTW where is the MOTW?
We are respected Cyber-Journalists not smut peddlers!
I am in favor of a free and democratic Iraq and I hope that we do win in those terms. I think that long run, however, the real winner may be Iran. Consider this from journalist Joseph Trento:
CLASSIFIED AND INTERNAL STUDIES CALL US WAR A VICTORY FOR IRAN
A number of contracted studies, including a new study conducted by the Army War College by outside experts, are calling the U.S. invasion of Iraq a failure that has essentially given Iran the victory it sought over Iraq in the stalemated Iran/Iraq war of the 1980s. A Pentagon source who has seen the studies tells NSNS that “a number of experts who are respected in the military have concluded that the result of the war in Iraq has been to provide Iran effective control of Southern Iraq and a military presence through Shi’a leaders it controls.”
Gary you still havent told us what YOU would consider to be "winning" in Iraq.
I will accept Rhinoculous' definition: a free and democratic Iraq. Of course, I hope that we accept the wishes of the majority of Iraqis and leave next year.
Gary, we will leave when we have acheived victory. We are already in our second war in Iraq, leaving before the job is done would mean we'd probably have to fight a third. You're logic on iran is also flawed. If anything, Iran has to be even more threatened to see a democracy next door. How long will the iranians be willing to put up with living in poverty and despair when they see their next door neighbors living the high life of capitalism?
