Playing the "Plame" game.

It seems that this week we will get the final decision on the Valerie Plame cia leak case. I think it's important to get the facts straight before we get the news from the special prosecutor.
First of all, the original charge that was to be investigated was the 1982 Intelligence Identities Protection Act. In order to violate this law, a person would have had to deliberately and maliciously exposed Ms. Plame knowing that she was an undercover agent and using information he'd obtained in an official capacity. Ms. Plame was surely not undercover, and hadn't been for over 9 years when the news came out. In my mind that should be enough to end the whole investigation, or not begin it in the first place. It's like investigating someone for murder, then finding the supposed victim alive. OOPS my bad, no crime has been committed, case closed have a nice day.
So now the investigation is whether or not certain officials lied to the grand jury. Ok, if they lied to the grand jury about a crime that wasn't committed that's still a crime, and i think a slap on the wrist is warranted.
Now who lied that we know of? Oh that would be Joe Wilson, the Kerry for president operative, and the person who started this whole mess. He lied about his wife sending him to Africa in the first place, Mr. Wilson's original claims about what he found on a CIA trip to Africa, what he told the CIA about it, and even why he was sent on the mission have since been discredited.
It seems to me that this whole thing is politically motivated. From what I have read so far about Fitzgerald, he seems to be a fair man, lets hope he does the right thing here.

The only thing you said I agree with is that Fitzgerald seems to be fair. Plame was NOC-non-official cover and not only was she outed but so was her cover company--and anyone else who used that corporate cover. I believe that when all the facts come outwe will find that she did meet the standards under the law as being undercover. Also, Joe Wilson did not lie. You are simply repeating long-discredited lies against him by Republican operatives.

It should be an interesting week. My own prediction: indictments leading to to a scandal somewhere between Iran-Contra and Watergate. It couldn't happen to a more well-deserving group of people.

Let's not forget that it all started with people whose agendas didn't match up...like Rhino said nothing illegal was DONE initially. These types of things have happened along party line differences all the time...also if he was so concerned about his wife's safety why was he stirring the shark infested pond...Now if someone lied they do have to pay but let's be honest and admit that nothing was done intially that falls out of the scope of dirty "politics" pool. If you play, the game you're bound to get beat.
