Simpson - Bowles Was Just for Show
The Aurora said as much at the time. Once the recommendations came down from that commission we knew Obama would reject it. One thing you can say about this president. He is principled. He believes (incorrectly) that socialism is the answer. He doesn't say it out loud of course because that would be political suicide but actions speak louder than words.

Those Who Talk The Loudest, Always Know The Least
I am happy to learn Richard Engel and crew have escaped from their captors, but concerned once again that the media only feel the need to be valorously discrete when it's the safety of one of their own at stake.
A major network's chief foreign correspondent is abducted, and the media, in my opinion, rightly declares a media black-out so as to not agitate the agitators.
Yet, when a madman shoots up a school, he becomes America's Next Top Model, and there's a reporter wearing a windbreaker with a microphone stuck in every mourners face before the bodies are even buried.
This is why the media has no business being involved, let alone leading any "national conversation" because they are inherently, the least qualified to do so.

The Two Biggest Problems We Have Now
Obamacare and SCOTUS. Obamacare kicks in next year and the next generation of Americans will grow up only knowing that the government provides health insurance. It will be natural for them to subject themselves to the intrusion of government in even the most intimate and private parts of their lives. Obama's second term will also see him get more than one more appointee to the court. That my friends means Game Over. We are on a course now that can't be reversed and Ronald Reagans quote about freedom has never been more prescient.
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.

Just watched/read Bill Clinton's nominating speech and Im going to forget for a moment that he was the first president since Andrew Johnson to be impeached, had his law license suspended for perjury, was almost single-handedly responsible for the sub-prime mortage crisis, repealed Glass-Steagal resulting in the financial meltdown, created a military superpower and rival in China by trading our military secrets for campaign contributions, was caught stealing White House furniture as he left office in disgrace, and that every other word tonight was a lie...forget all that for a moment.... Great speech!

Even An Ostrich Is Right Twice A Day
Under the WARN Act -- The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act -- companies with more than 100 employees must give 60 days' notice if there is to be a mass layoff during any 30-day period for 500 or more employees (or for 50-499 employees if they make up at least 33% of the employer's active workforce).
But in guidance issued on Monday, Assistant Labor Secretary Jane Oates said never mind about those pink slips:
"Questions have recently been raised as to whether the WARN Act requires Federal contractors...whose contracts may be terminated or reduced in the event of sequestration on January 2, 2013, to provide WARN Act notices 60 days before that date to their workers employed under government contracts funded from sequestrable accounts. The answer to this question is 'no.' In fact, to provide such notice would be inconsistent with the purpose of the WARN Act."WARNing
Wait, so no one is actually trying to prevent the actual layoffs but rather they just dont want to tell the soon to be unemployed? Nice.

Arms Are For Hugging
"Well, I would take it one step further. I don't understand why the police officers across this country don't stand up collectively and say we're gonna go on strike, we're not gonna protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe."
That was little boots bloomberg two nights ago on CNN, never letting a crisis go to waste, making a case for gun control before the dead were buried or mourned.
Okay, I'll bite.
So, let me get this straight. The mayor's argument is that law-abiding American citizens should abandon their right to bear arms, because the government, with guns, will hold them hostage through intimidation and threat of grievous bodily harm if they dont comply?
That about right?
Well, I'd say lil' mikey is the exact reason, our forefathers with great insight, were so crystal clear when writing the Second Amendment to protect the populace from a tyrannical and armed government, and thank you for making our argument for us.
Now go grab a 15.9 oz Coke and a smile.
