(Wash Your) Hands Across America

Growing up whenever I would hint hint to my mother that I was hoping for one thing or another for my birthday or Christmas I would be met with the the same response every time.

"hope in one hand and spit in the other and tell me which one fills up first"

I learned to be happy with what I got, and if I wasnt to get it myself.

Well Obama and the House Democrats just hocked one hell of an 850 billion dollar loogie into the hand of the American people.

My guess would be that that the vast majority of the crowd on the National Mall for the Inauguration were your typical eco-friendly types. The type that no doubt believe in man made global warming and no doubt would support any and all taxation to save the planet. The type that love Mother Earth so much that they even have the bumper stickers to prove it.

I believe it was the The House of Pain that once sang "pack em up, pack em in".

Well, let me begin....

True environmentalists and outdoor enthusiasts live by another phrase, "pack it in, pack it out". In short, clean up after yourself. It means leave your surroundings better than you found them.

You name a type of rally and Ive been to it, and I can say without equivication from personal experience that lefties are the filthiest of them all. Hence the dirty hippie moniker, since I suppose all stereotypes have a ring of truth to them (and ring around the collar you stinkin' commies).

The argument could be made that whenever you amass large groups of people there is bound to be alot of refuse, to which I would agree. Take New Years in New York for example. The only difference is that revelers are there to revel, and revel in excess at that. They are there to party two thousand zero zero party over out of time. They make no pretense of giving a shit about the environment like the greenies do. Yet without fail liberals will litterbug like they were doing the jitterbug.

Obama said his Inauguration would be the most eco-friendly ever. Turns out it was the most enviromentally damaging in our history... by a mile. My guess is that it wont be his first fib.

If Woodsie had famously said, "give a hoot, tax Exxon" then maybe liberals would have listened but since he asked them to take personal responsibility and "dont pollute"... this is what happens.

But they sure did put on some nice rock and roll concerts.

Decatur? I Dont Even Know Her!

Now that the mainstream media has safely tucked Obama into the White House, I figure we (meaning you) can at least start being honest about their role in putting him there and as well as officially becoming the militaristic wing of the democratic party. It is what it is.

I remember visiting Northern Ireland as a child and wondering why some people's voices on the tele would be bleeped out. It was because of the political party they belonged to I was told (and to lower my voice since the RUC were probably listening). See, there was a time not long ago when members of Sinn Fein were not allowed to speak on the news and tell their side of the story. There was no room for debate and there was no room for discussion. One side was right and the other was wrong. There was no middle ground....and there was no peace.

Now Im not trying to say this country is on the verge of another civil war because the media is in the pocket of the left. Just saying it aint good for anybody. Objective reporting is paramount to honest debate. Obama might be a decent President or he might actually go on to become the worst President this country has ever known, and most people wouldnt be the wiser. Even if they were to confide with Sly.

I was running through some scenarios that could bring his presidency down and I cant realistically see any scandal that would do the trick. Caught breaking into opponents offices? 'Tis but a scratch. Extramarital affair while in office? Just a flesh wound. The fix is in. It is what it is.

The reason that got me thinking about this is that Im a glutton for punishment and have been watching MSNBC (ok ok Im a Buchanan stalker) the past two days. Apparently the consensus is that Obama gave the greatest inaugural speech EVER! I watched the speech live, have read it a few times and it was ok to good. Too much problem and not enough solution for me but it was ok to good as Ive said. A solid B if I had to grade it. But greatest speech ever? Well put it this way, put away the dynamite Olbermann.... I think Mt Rushmore is safe for the time being.

There was one point that stuck out, not so much about what was said in the speech but in how it is being covered in the news. Im talking about Obama's groundbreaking and historic outreach to the moslem world. Im not going to go into my opinion on the matter or even critique what is being said by Tucker Carlson's evil twin brother Rachel Maddow.

I am however going to put a historical perspective on the matter.

In 1786 Thomas Jefferson as Ambassador of the newly free United States of America "reached out" to Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja of the Barbary Coast and kindly asked of him to stop killing American sailors and hijacking our ships. He was told in no uncertain terms, no. I believe the exact words were along the lines of....

It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. The United States continued to pay a ransom and American sailors continued to be killed, kidnapped and enslaved by the moslem barbary pirates. I can assure you, it had nothing to do with George Bush. I know its hard to believe, but seriously, Haliburton didnt even exist back then. Seriously.

This continued unabated until TJ took office and sent the Marines to the "shores of Tripoli" We kicked some ass and a treaty was signed and the killing of Americans stopped.

Until it started again.

Sensing weakness from our involvement in The Forgotten War, Umar ben Muhammad declared war on The USA for not paying tribute. Um yeah about that, sorry we forgot to put the check in the mail it might have slipped to the bottom of our priority list when Brits were burning down the White House, do you accept debit cards?

Long story short we kicked their ass again. A treaty was signed and the killing of Americans stopped.

....Until it started again.

I guess what Im trying to say is...

Maybe just maybe the moslem world should start fuckin' reaching out to us.

Parade Meet Rain

Back in the day when The Aurora was more active, and the Rhino and I would pursue honest liberal debate (we were nubs and didnt know better - donk.) throughout blogland, the one thing that always cracked us up was the pure unmitigated hatred spewed from the left. Hell somewhere someone wrote a poem/song about how Rhino and I clubbed baby seals and starved African babies or something of the sort for fucks sake. Kraut termed it Bush Derangement Syndrome and that just about sums it up perfectly. The vast majority were certifiably deranged, or clinically speaking... bat shit crazy. It was always Hitler this or fascist that, and it was funny for about a second. Then it got old, and sad, and pathetic.

It will not stop today with Bush leaving for Texas, nor will it in our lifetime. Today's lefties will carry this sickness like the sixties hippies have had a hardon for Nixon the past half century. Hatred is their game, only the names change.

I'm not gonna play that game, not gonna do it... wouldnt be prudent.

Although he is not the President that I voted for, he is the President Of The United States of America, the country I love so well, and I respect that and all that it means. I do not wish him ill, but do I not wish him well either. May he have a very uneventful four years in office and then the front door can hit him a half an hour before the devil knows what the fuck we're out of whiskey or some Irish proverb like that.

The Aurora will not become a hate Obama blog, and we will try not to compare him to Hitler every other sentence (unless its really funny or he grows a moustache).

I would however like to take this opportunity to put a perspective on some of the decisions he has made to date that have been largely ignored by his pals in the media. Im referring to the people that he has chosen to surround himself with. Allow me to be the light in the darkness of the Obama administration.

Lets start with his running mate and then we will examine some of the skeletons in the cabinet.

Joe Biden, Veep: Liar, Dumb Guy. Plain and simple a known and proven liar. He has lied his entire life and he has lied about his entire life. Just ask Neil Kinnock. And seriously... hes not that smart, I seriously think he might be half retard.

Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State: Liar, Clinton Library Fundraiser. About so many things, but Ill keep it foreign affairs related. Lied about being under sniper fire in Bosnia for one. I suppose that's why Obama himself rightly referred to Hillary's experience as First Lady as a "glorified tea party". Her appointment is a joke or a master stroke on Obama's part when things go wrong. (let me know how that whole anti-war thing works out for you the next four years)

Eric Holder, Attorney General: Pardon Peddler and Kidnapper. Obstructed Justice Department documents against clemency for terrororists in order to curry favor with the the Puerto Rican electorate in New York (where Hillary would carpetbag a Senate seat). Arraigned the pay for pardon deal with Marc Rich in order to secure funding for The Clinton Library. Most disgusting of all, he was directly involved in the order to kidnap a child at gunpoint violating a court order, the law, and common decency. Oh yeah, and lied about it too.

Carol Browner, Energy Czar: Liar, Shredder, Cover Upper. In her words, “One of the things I’m the proudest of at EPA is the work we’ve done to expand the public’s right to know.”, yet during her last days (while under investigation for using the EPA as a left wing political slush fund) had her office's computer files erased violating a direct court order instructing her to do no such thing. Her excuse was she didnt use work computers for work, which was about as good an excuse as Berger's clumsy sock routine. As a result of her actions the entire EPA was held in contempt. Besides that just your average run of the mill socialist tax tax tax wealth redistributing sky is falling greenie.

Timothy F. Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury: Tax Scofflaw, Fat cat feeder, time shares with Charlie Rangel. Im actually with Rush on this and will give him a pseudo-pass. The tax code is so fucked up, shit happens. So long as the IRS doesnt ramp up enforcement under his watch, Ill give this a slide. It his orchestrating of some of the Bush bailouts that piss me off. Look what he did in the last few months, now hes got at a minimum four years to waste the taxpayer dime.

Rahm Emanuel, Chief of Staff: Clinton Crony, Blago Bedfellow, Freddie Fumbler, Short. Yet another finger pointing Dem personally involved with the desctruction of Freddie Mac as a board member. Thanks to a tipoff from the Chi Tribune and the incompentency (or complacency) of the Attorney General Fritz the Gaffe we'll never know how just much he was willing to pay to place their people in his and Obama's seat. It should also be noted that any dude thats five feet tall and goes by the nickname Rahmbo just aint right. Like the Shermanator in that America Pie movie, that dude was just flat out creepy.

Tom Daschle, Secretary of Health and Human Services: Linda's Lackey (his wife). Pushed through billions of dollars worth of legislation directly benefitting his wife's clients. Who's his wife you ask? Well Linda Daschle of course. A career lobbyist for the airline industry with a brief stint as Deputy Administrator of the FAA under Clinton. As but one example, she opposed criminal background checks for airline employees after September 11th because it wasnt cost effective, yet I gotta take off my python boot everytime I travel. It should also be added that it is alleged that the Daschles helped cover up the wrongful death of three plane crash victims for one of his friends. Google Murl Bellew.

Bill Richardson, ex-Commerce Secretary appointee: Fake Mexican, Fallguy. Sort of like Rhino. Accepting pay to play wasnt his problem, he did what politicians do. His crime was betraying Hillary. She did this to him. She's in, he's out. Considering the Clinton's track record with Commerce Secretaries, this probably works out in Richardson's favor.

But...

Obama gave a pretty good speech today. Didnt give me blood flow like Mathews, but it was ok.

Then again Hitler gave good speeches too...

Shrinkage?

Get your mind out of the gutter Lily.

I'm talking glaciers. Are they shrinking? Yes. Are they growing? Yes.

Like everything else on the planet, it depends on what the sun is doing. I know the donkey just went over this in his last post, but i think it's a good idea to address it again since an anonymous commenter thought i needed an explanation on glaciers. I didn't and don't, but i do appreciate the attempt to educate me.

So once again, i want to point out that there is NO CONSENSUS on global warming, and in fact if you just ask the scientists who are not affiliated with any government agency or corporation, the clear majority believe that anthropogenic global warming is a myth. In the past i've linked to the petition that has over 30k signatures of U.S. based scientists who agree with that statement. The IPCC is less than 3000 "scientists" who signed on to a study that was written by politicians. Clearly they have an agenda, and Al Gore is just a jackass with no scientific credibility at all, but even if they truly believed what they say, they have no proof. The main argument that they use is the rapidly shrinking glaciers. Originally it was the glaciers at the north pole that were going to melt and cover the world with water, but then a kid in 3rd grade did a science fair project with a glass of water and disproved that theory, so more recently, as "anonymous" pointed out in the comments of the last post, it has changed to the glaciers in greenland and the antartic. Now i agree, if those were to rapidly melt it would probably cause some serious problems...... but they'r not melting.

Greenland was about as warm or warmer in the 1930’s and 40’s, and many of the glaciers were smaller than they are now. This was a period of rapid glacier shrinkage world-wide, followed by at least partial re-expansion during a colder period from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. Of course, we don’t know very much about how the glacier dynamics changed then because we didn’t have satellites to observe it. However, it does suggest that large variations in ice sheet dynamics can occur from natural climate variability. The problem arises in thepossibility that, due to anthropogenic warming, warm phases will become longer and more severe, so that each time the glaciers go through a period of retreat like this, they won’t fully grow back and they will retreat farther the next time.

I linked to this story for a reason. This guy believes in APG, but still doesn't say anything definitive. He says there's a "possibility" that there can be a problem due to APG. Let me spell that out again for you very clearly. IF APG is real there COULD be a problem way off in the future IF the glaciers don't grow back to their original size.

Clearly the writer also believes in APG and therefore didn't bother to ask what would happen if APG isn't real. But I think we all know the answer to that...... WE DON'T KNOW! More importantly we can't change it, we can't affect it, and we certainly shouldn't destroy the world economy trying to keep a glacier from melting that isn't melting because it may or may not melt at some point in the distant future. I'm thinking we should at least wait to see if the glacier gets back to the size it was in the 1930's and then if it comes back again before we start panicking and spending billions of dollars on windmills, solar panels, and other "green" technology that clearly doesn't work.

Liar Liar Pants On Ice

Its sad and its tragic that we are still having this debate, yet I am relieved that it is finally becoming close to something that resembles a debate.

The topic of global warming has always been about the boogeyman. Man is evil, man must be punished. By man, I of course mean THE MAN. The rich, the successful, the advanced and the industrialized. Hint, its The United States of America. If I had the wherewithal or know how to quote the scene in which the wicked smart janitor smacks down the harvard regurgititing tool who quotes some textbook about agrarian precapitalism I would, but Im too lazy right now to do so. And yes I know its not my fault.

The discussion up until this point has been nothing more than why is it one species fault. One species whom I might add would be calculated as but a fraction of a second on the twenty four clock of this planets existence, a species whose carbon output is measured in decimal points.

It has always been about how laws legislation and taxation can be be imposed to curb the perceived evildoings and excessive and corrupt lifestyles. Its moral relative blackmail. Drive a hummer go to hell, stage a hundred thousand people rock show go to heaven. Its rubbish and my guess is that it will be the first piece of major legislation passed by the next administration.

This is not political ideology as it will be Bush that history will remembered as the President that pushed this country down the hill of socialism, but it will be the one that kowtows to the alarmist agenda who will have sacrificed our national sovereignty A freedom that will not be so easy to be regained and fought for and won from a people fattened by a thousand cable television stations and whose stomach gets rumbley at the notion of ten dead a month to free millions or whether or not to supersize their lunch.

Take the recent WWF commercial, or solicitation for donations if you will, that has been airing featuring polar bears. The ad shows a ma and cub bear all alone and seemingly stranded on an iddy biddy piece of ice in the middle of nowhere. They forget to mention that bears will swim for miles for fish much like a commercial fisherman would. They go where the food is, its what they do, its all that they do. They forget to mention that the polar bear population is thriving in the past century. Thriving. They forget to mention the truth. It plays on emotions and it prays on the guilt they are forcing people to feel without the facts.

Take for example a recent comment left on Rhino's post about the Warming Ruse. The alarmist commenter stated that the Greenland's ice was melting so man made warming must be true, and Im sure if asked further would suggest some tax be imposed.

What he failed to mention was that Greenland was in fact once a green land free of ice long before General Motors made Hummers.

"Evidence shows that around three million years ago there was an increase in the amount of rock and debris deposited on the ocean floor around Greenland. These rocks could not have got there until icebergs started to form and could transport them, indicating that large amounts of ice on Greenland only began to form about three million years ago.
"Prior to that, Greenland was largely ice-free and probably covered in grass and forest. Furthermore, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels were relatively high. LINK

Fails to mention any other factors that could be the cause of said melting.

Global warming may not be the only thing melting Greenland. Scientists have found at least one natural magma hotspot under the Arctic island that could be pitching in.
In recent years, Greenland’s ice has been melting more and flowing faster into the sea—a record amount of ice melted from the frozen mass this summer, according to recently released data—and Earth’s rising temperatures are suspected to be the main culprit.
But clues to a new natural contribution to the melt arose when scientists discovered a thin spot in the Earth’s crust under the northeast corner of the Greenland Ice Sheet where heat from Earth’s insides could seep through, scientists will report here this week at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union. What a novel fucking idea! Hot lava melting ice? Inconceivable. Same reason that all major computer models measuring the alleged man made warming crisis refuse to include something me and my friends back on Krypton refer to as the Yellow Sun. Fails to mention that carbon levels are at historic lows, HISTORIC LOWS.

The data indicates that between 45 - 34 million years ago the atmospheric carbon dioxide level was up to five times greater than today, with a sharp decrease and then stabilization to near modern day levels between 34 - 25 million years ago.
During the early part of the Paleogene Period, from 65 - 34 million years ago, global climates were much warmer than today with very little ice present at the poles. The boundary of the Oligocene and Eocene Epochs 33.7 million years ago was marked by rapid global cooling and the formation of large continental ice sheets on the Antarctic. LINK
