Those Were The Days....

The Bush Years.....Those were the days weren't they? I was never a Bush hater but I never thought I would be looking back on his years so fondly.

Sure he did some things that I was upset about. He never saw a republican spending bill he didn't like, and who can forget that TARP monster?(just to name a couple) But when he came into office he had a recession, rising unemployment, 9/11, etc. The picture wasn't as perfect as when his old man took over.

So what did he do? He took action on all fronts. He didn't try to fundamentally change the greatest nation in the hisory of man kind. He didn't try to radically remake The U.S. into a socialist/Marxist state. He didn't try to overhaul the entire system. He made some adjustments.

Two differences between the moves Bush made and the moves Obama is making.

1. Bush was skewered by the media for his moves while Obama is adored for his.

2. Bush's tax cuts worked.

Your link on the Bush tax cuts is dated late 2003 or early 2004, since it predicts economic growth in 2004. The Bush tax cuts worked in terms of benefiting the economic position of rich people. Anything else is debatable. Of course at the end of the Bush years the economy fell into a severe recession, which we are stil in. Your answer, more tax cuts. For the rich of course, not for the rest of us.

Fortunately, the number of people who look back fondly on the Bush years is very small.

Ooops my bad. I forgot that gary doesn't even know recent history.

Lets review.

Bush inherited a recession, and 8 months into his presidency we were hit with the worst terrorist attack in the history of our country.

He cut taxes and stemmed unemployment (in fact got it down to all time lows)the market spiked back up etc.

Did the economy turn down eventually? Yes but that was caused by the housing bust. It is not debated whether or not the housing bust caused the economic downturn only what caused the housing bust. (i'll explain that to you another time)

Now you may or may not agree with the way Bush and the dem congress handled this collapse (TARP..and i don't agree) but be that as it may the point is that when Bush took over the economy was going the wrong way and he used the tried and true method of tax cutting to get us out of it.

The tax cuts were a set percentage by the way so everyone who paid taxes received the exact same benefit. Only really stupid people believe that it was a tax cut for the rich.

Now that we got the recent history out of the way you can go back to enjoying the post.

You're welcome.

The very rich are the Republican Party's constituency. The rest (abortion, gay marriage, etc) is just for the rubes. The rich primarily benefited from the Bush policies. Obama's policies favor the middle-class and below. These are just facts.

actually that's exactly what i'm saying and have said many times before. However, that is NOT the subject of this post and any further comments on that subject will be deleted.

if you have anything substantive to back up your erroneous assertions in your previous comments you are more than welcome to post them here.

good luck.
