This is a great story because it really illustrates the point that a single payer system doesn't work and that's in a much smaller (population)country than ours.
By the way you know what seems to always be missing from this debate. 2 things actually.
1. what % of Americans want to pay for healthcare for 20 million illegal aliens
2. if we want to cut down on costs why doesn't congress or the president propose tort reform?
I have the answers too but i'll let that sit for a while.
The article doesn't say they want an American healthcare system. It says they want to keep universal coverage. In one list I saw, rating healthcare systems Canada was #30. The US was #37. France was listed as #1, and they don't have single-payer. They have a hybrid system, private with a public option. What does that remind you of? So the Canadian system isn't perfect--just better than ours.
I think the article says that it's really not working in Canada.
