The Senate's Top Environmentalist?

"If the Senate doesn't pass a bill to cut global warming, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer says, there will be dire results: droughts, floods, fires, loss of species, damage to agriculture, worsening air pollution and more.

She says there's a huge upside, however, if the Senate does act: millions of clean-energy jobs, reduced reliance on foreign oil and less pollution for the nation's children. " link

Speaks for itself.

I'll have to agree with Barbara Boxer, one of our finest members of the Senate. I wish we had 20 more just like her.

interesting. I just heard on the radio (i haven't confirmed it) that garys boy Hansen from NASA says cap and tax is useless. I think they said the term he used was "smoke and mirrors"

What say you now gary? Your main source for all of your idiocy on global warming thinks cap and tax is bullshit.

oh snap. (yeah i said snap)

read it and weep gary!

Ha, it figures. That's what happens when you let others think for yourself and just regurgitate web links and wikipedia.....Baaaaaaaa

I think Gary's head just exploded.

Why link to Newsbusters rather than to Dr. Hansen's article? Didn't you read it? If not you should. There's a link to it in the Newsbusters article.

My opinion on global warming is based on the scientific consensus, rather than the opinion of one scientist. Dr. Hansen agrees with that consensus, perhaps a bit on the alarmist side, but then he is likely right to be alarmed.

Nonetheless, I respect Dr. Hansen's opinion on "cap and trade", namely that it does not go near far enough. Still it may be the best that can be achieved politically at this time. May I assume then that you would support Hansen's more aggressive "fee-and-dividend" approach? Of course not, you no doubt think Dr. Hansen is part of the GW "hoax."

So, far from my head exploding, reading Dr. Hansen's article makes me even more alarmed about the threat of anthropogeic global warming, more skeptical that cap and trade goes far enough, and even more contempuous of your opinions on this subject.

Thanks for the referral to the Hansen article. Here's another good one:

www.nytimes.com/2009/07/13/opinion/13krugman.html?ref=opinion

Krugman is an economist not a climatologist but he's a very smart guy and he makes a good point on global warming:

"At this point, the central forecast of leading climate models — not the worst-case scenario but the most likely outcome — is utter catastrophe, a rise in temperatures that will totally disrupt life as we know it, if we continue along our present path. How to head off that catastrophe should be the dominant policy issue of our time."

Donkeyhue said...

Utter catastrophe and yet your side has come up with a tax as the solution. Its like someone yelling fire in a crowded movie theater and a red truck full of accountants shows up. Feckin' idjits.

I am all in favor of a more aggressive approach, as Dr. Hansen advocates, but because of people like you this is all we can get through Congress, and actually it will probably be close in the Senate. So are you in favor of a much more aggressive approach to reducing C02? Of course not, you deny the problem altogether. Whose the idiot, the people trying to get something accomplished, even if it may not be enough, or the people trying to prevent anything from getting done? The question answers itself, to all but "fickin' idjits."

But perhaps I assume too much. What's your global warming solution?

Donkeyhue said...

Dont you see that cap n trade will have zero impact on the earth's temperature so its not like your just giving it the ol college try, you are using the warming scare to do something completely different that is politically and not environmentally motivated.

My solution is to sit back and enjoy the short insiginificant time we all have on this earth.

That the G8 have vowed to cap global temperature is just insane. The earth gets warm the earth gets cool and for the most part scientists dont have a fucking clue.

As I said, your solution is to do nothing. Which makes sense if you think the problem is imaginary, a liberal/gobalist/statist plot or conspiracy of some kind. But I don't. The problem is real, the situation is serious, and the science is in, with more coming in all the time. I'm not worried for myself, but I have a child, and she is planning on having children before too long.

My prediction (and we may not be around for this) is that one day people around the world will ask, "Why didn't they do something! They were warned by the best scientists of their day, and they let this happen."

personally i didn't read hansens article. he's a liar and a fraud. i only linked it because you think he's some kind of genius.

your genius says cap and trade is bullshit.

My genius (me) says it's bullshit.

This means that pelosi, reid, obama, waxman, etc. all know it's bullshit.

So why do it?

I know you're too stupid to answer that question (not an insult just my honest opinion of you) so once again i'll spell it out.

control

gary said...

Since you didn't read it: Dr. Hansen thinks cap and trade doesn't go far enough, won't reduce C02 enough. He's probably right. If you were to therefore advocate stronger legislative programs I would be right there with you. But you don't.

Oh, and it's not Dr. Hansen who is a liar and a fraud. That would be you.

I looked at both sides and made an intelligent determination. You admittedly only look at one side. And it's the stupid side.

Control? We need to control C02 emissions. This requires government action. But you will go on denying the science, impugning other people's motives, and generally playing your fiddle while Rome burns.

Rhino-itall said...

gary i didn't read THIS article. I've read hansen. He was the liar/fraud who was using incorrect information like the bullshit hockey stick and then when he was exposed argued "but it was only a little bit incorrect"

his agenda drives his science.

he endorsed algores "documentary" which said the world would end in a couple of weeks and used fake images from a hollywood production.

Finally, you're so stupid that you keep reinforcing my analogy. You know cap and tax won't have any effect on the environment and yet you advocate for it anyway. You're just not smart enough to realize how stupid you really are.

i'm going to get my fiddle now. Don't go away mad gary but please do us all a favor and go away.

gary said...

"You're just not smart enough to realize how stupid you really are. "

Whatever you say, MORON.

good comeback sparky. you're really coming along. just keep working on it and don't get discouraged.

gary said...

I decided long ago that when you called me stupid I would simply point out that you are the one who is stupid. You're the one who always reduces the conversation to the level of insult, which is a stupid thing to do. So you repeatedly prove your stupidity.
