"Our results imply a fundamental gap in our understanding about the amplitude of global warming associated with large and abrupt climate perturbations. This gap needs to be filled to confidently predict future climate change." Dr. Richard E. Zeebe Associate Professor Department of Oceanography University of Hawaii at Manoa

gary was right. more science and evidence is coming in every day.....
First, did you read the link? I never know. Scientists have never claimed to have all the answers and obviously, as the article says, they don't have all the answers about the big warming of 55 millions years ago. Obviously we know more about the climate of today than that of 55 million years ago. But one thing we do know, as your articles states, is that there are feedback mechanisms that can greatly accelerate warming quickly once it begins.
For example, warming causes the permafrost to melt, which releases vast amounts of greenhouse gas. I saw a clip where scientists were measuring methane release from permafrost. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas. Enough methane was being released that they could (and did) set fire to it. More methane and C02 means more warming, which means more methane and C02, and so on.
You're right about more science on GW coming in all the time. I could give you a dozen links. But I won't because you wouldn't read them.
You are, as they say, part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
ok champ. thanks so much for that.
Im no climate scientist, so correct me if Im wrong, but Im pretty sure that the earth somehow managed to survive just fine after a massive CO2 spike 55 million years ago without algore and without any cap n trade legislation.
Just my opinion, and granted I have not been published in any peer reviewed publications and in full discloure I receive a quarterly dividend from ExxonMobil.
You crack me up Gary, you had to see an online clip to realize that methane was a flammable gas??? Thats funny. A 10 yr old kid that lights his own farts couldve told you that, you moron. Why the fuck do I even bother with. Without google/wiki/kos youd have no original thoughts or ideas of your own.
The Earth did survive the warming 55 million years ago. But the article did mention "massive extinctions."
I knew methane was flammable, moron. I didn't know that it was being released from melting permafrost.
ahahahahahahahahaha...
i mean hey take it easy on gary. he's "special". lets try to encourage him a little bit instead of always pointing out his shortcomings.
gary, good job little buddy. you are a special person.
"Enough methane was being released that they could (and did) set fire to it."
Thats not a sentence written by a person familiar with the characteristics of methane gas. Did they really release "enough" methane as if only a certain amount is flammable. "(and they did)" LOL. You sure are stupid. Idjit.
I thought you believed in evolotion and are pro-abortion, Id think you were pro-mass extinctions too. And by the way the mass extinctions were a result of the ensuing cooling, which you deny is happening so nothing to worry about. Better learn yourself.
Little buddy, THAT'S FUNNY
you should rename this blog to 'The Aurora Versus Gary Environmental Blog"
How bout we name it the "I will make out with you right now Anita if you feel left out"
So... about that makeout.
I will lose all respect for Anita is she makes out with you.
it's not that i feel left out. i hesitate to jump in on any topic because i don't like being called an idjit.
it's just that i don't visit that many blogs anymore and am seeking, how shall i say it? oh, how about more "variety" from the aurorans. not to sound pushy or anything, of course.. i know you're not here for my own personal entertainment ... but still, try to mix it up a bit (looks like rhino's back at it today so it looks like you've gotten the drift).
