Did You Know?

That people who grew up in socialist countries tend to believe that redistribution of wealth is a good idea?

Forget other countries, I can show you this in different neighborhoods. If you grow up in a hood where everyone is on welfare you tend to think it's fair and right. Not everyone mind you, but the majority. Same thing with unions. If you grow up in a household where your parents are union employee's you tend to be pro union. Your family roots for the Jets? (sorry) guess what most children will tend to be? Losers.....oops, I mean Jets fans. The list goes on and on.

I bet these guys from Harvard got a multi million dollar grant to do this study and anyone with common sense could have told you the exact same thing for free.

Hi getliveayite. I didn't get tired of "being wrong", that is of expressing a contrary opinion. I got tired of my comments and questions being ignored, only to be then accused of having no counter-arguments by the people who ignored my arguments in the first place. Then when pointed this out and persisted, rather than answer my comments The Aurora chose to insult me, close threads, and finally delete my comments.

Not that I might not be wrong about some things, but even in areas where I was obviously right (perhaps you followed the evolution debates) I was faced by the same idiocy.

Or the global warming debate. It is not that there is zero chance that I could be wrong, only idiots claim 100% certainty (e.g., Rhino and Donkey) but my questions were never answered or my points refuted. I never claimed a unanimity of scientific opinion, only a consensus, but they never acknowledged that, despite a number of studies supporting at least a 90% consensus. They could have said the consensus is wrong (it's not like that's never happenened) but they continued to deny the consensus. And they NEVER answered my question as to how they could be certain that the minority of skeptical scientists were right. They could be, it's conceivable at least, but how can one be sure that they are. Why should I accept the views of a minority of scientists, who do no research on the subject, preferring to express their views in op-ed pieces, who do not publish in peer-reviewed journals (at least not on global warming), and who in many cases accept Exxon money. Hell, some of these people, like Singer, also accepted big tobacco money to dispute the "consensus" on smoking, despite having no expertise in that area. But I'm supposed to give greater weight to their opinions rather than to, say, The National Academy of Science. Points like these were NEVER answered at The Aurora and I tired of it.

I'm big enough to not be fazed by a few friendly insults, and always returned them in kind, in a friendly manner along the lines of "Jane, you ignorant slut" but when they began to become less friendly I tired of that as well.

So getlive (and Anita I hope you read this as well) I do not expect to post here very often in the future, but we'll see how it goes. I went away once before, for a period of months, as Anita may have for a time, as Lilly certainly did. Being exposed to contrary opinions can be frustrating, but Rhino and Donkey may eventually realize the if The Aurora is just a mutual masturbation society they might as well just do the real thing.

Ha ha !! Good one, Gary.

Now excuse me while I partake of my early morning martini(s) and spend the rest of my day getting rich off of all those hefty government affirmative-action set-asides.

Thanks for clearing that up, Gary. Anita, can I come work for you?????
