I heard Maureen Dowd on Imus in the Morning this week speaking about Obama say "when the europeans think you're too socialist then you know you're in trouble"....interesting.......
"Texas has sent a clear message that evolution should be taught as a scientific theory open to critical scrutiny, not as a sacred dogma that can't be questioned," .............Really? Students can question theories? Ideas? What a cool idea......
Media Matters produces Keith Olbermann's show. Really? Media Matters is George Soros' company. You know George Soros, the guy who got his start on becoming a millionaire by working with the Nazi's...... How many times has Olbermann implied that Bush and his people were like Nazi's? Olbermann is a mouthpiece for an ACTUAL NAZI!!!
I just heard that Rachel Maddow's ratings are tanking. Could it be because she's just a snarky version of Overbite? and she, like her mentor NEVER has anyone on her show that might think about disagreeing with her? I'm sure she's comfortable in her echo chamber, but it's kind of boring to watch. At least Matthews has guests on that try to challenge him. His ratings suck because he doesn't let anyone speak without him screaming at them, but at least they're on the show.
Our president followed up his DVD gift to the Prime Minister of Great Britian with an IPOD for the Queen!!!!!! What the f**k? Really??? Who the hell is running the show? Can Rahm Emanuel please fire somebody or something?

The Texas standards on evolution have been watered down to the point that they don't mean much. Allowing students to "critique” and examine “all sides of scientific evidence.” Well, I don't have a problem with that. But I looked at the Discovery Institute website and they say it requires students to look at the evidence for and against evolution. The problem of course is that there isn't any evidence against evolution. There are no competing scientific theories. But I am sure that the evidence supporting evolution is stronger and weaker at some points than others, and I have no problem with pointing this out.
Of course, no one is trying to change standards for students on the theory of continental drift or The Theory of Relativity. The Discovery Institute is all about the religion.
Should we also present the 6000-year old Earth theory in Geology classes? How about the demon theory of mental illness? Should students be taught that man and dinosaur co-existed? (The answer to all these questions is NO.)
The difference between the theory of evolution and the theory of relativity is that the latter has been PROVEN.
In fact, i would say with the overwhelming numbers of people who believe in creationism around the world that there's a consensus. The argument is OVER! We have CONSENSUS!
ahahahahahahahahaha
There are several lines of proof regarding evolution: the fossil record and the DNA evidence come to mind. There is no one proof of evolution; there is an overwhelming mass of evidence. When Darwin proposed the theory we knew nothing about genetics or DNA. Comparing human and chimpanzee DNA could have disproven evolution but ended up powerfully confirming it.
I noticed that the school board head who instigated the debate in Texas was a Dentist. Maybe he can sign your global warming petition.
All those people who believe in creationism do so for religious reasons not scientific. The scientific consensus is overwhelming. Of course the new Texas standards do not mandate teaching creationism, thank god.
Oh, and since you like lists of scientists, google project Steve. It's a list of scientists named Steve who support evolution.
Did you know that George Soros would not be a billionaire, if it were not for the international language Esperanto?
The Forbes Rich List places Soros as the 28th most wealthy person in the World.
Born in Hungary in 1930 as Gyorgy Schwartz, the family changed its name in 1936 to Soros, which in Esperanto means "to soar" . The Soros name change was an effort to protect the Jewish family from the rise of fascist rulers and the whole family spoke Esperanto at home.
As a native Esperanto speaker, (someone who has spoken Esperanto from birth), George Soros defected to the West in 1946, while attending an Esperanto youth meeting in Berne, Switzerland.
Esperanto enabled Soros both to defect, and to become a billionaire.
The only thing that should be taught in a science class is, well, science. That means the Theory of Evolution. Creationism should be taught in a religion class. Science is based on empirical evidence, not faith. The very esence of science is to question and scrutinize! What kind of clear message is being sent??? When did scrutiny ever leave scientific practice???
Well getlive i would argue that evolution is a religion as well. There is NO empirical evidence that evolution is true and therefore you must take a leap of FAITH to believe that we are descended from monkeys. personally i don't believe it.
Finally, the Texas board of education is not saying creationism should be taught in science class, they are saying that the religion of darwin is allowed to be questioned.
To answer your question, scrutiny left the scientific practice when scientists couldn't get paid if they argued against darwin or global warming.
There is perhaps no greater religous zealot than the scientist.
There is empirical evidence. Fossil records, genetic changes in organisms to name a few. Religion is an organized approach to spirituality. There is no spirituality in the Theory of Evolution. It is merely a scientific theory on how humans came to be. So, it is not a religion. As for the leap of faith, you are correct. People like you and me take a leap of faith in science every day.
And scrutiny has not left science. My question was sarcastic. Science does not exist without scrutiny and question. It is of the essence of science.
So the Texas Board says Darwins theory can be questioned. I'm still not sure what that message is. Do other schools teach it as fact?
1. there is NO evidence of evolution. Please show me the fossil records of one species turning into another completely different species.
2. if you believe in evolution, you believe in an organized religion and darwin is your God. without PROOF, you must take it on FAITH that man evolved from apes.
Yes. ALL schools, including the ones YOU went to teach evolution as fact. I know this because i went to the same public schools as you and learned evolution as fact. I didn't question it then because like now, i'm not a religious person. However i have learned to think for myself since the days of public school and therefore i don't believe that evolution is science.
Where does Patrick Ewing fit in this discussion?
I'm not saying it is fact. It is a THEORY. Evolution and adaptation exists. I'm not saying there is absolute proof that we came from monkeys. All I am saying is that there is proof of evolution and it is not a religion. Evolution doesn't mean "humans came from monkeys". It is part of Darwins theory.
How can schools teach it as fact when the word THEORY is in the title??? It's the THEORY of evolution. We didn't learn it as fact. You took it as fact.
If you don't believe that evolution is science, what would you consider science?
The scientific community las long tried to muddle the lines of scientific theory and fact so that they are indistinguishable. They do this in a blantant ploy against truth for the purpose of self preservation. You show me a scientist and I will show you a liar.
Just as fundamentalists believe that creationism is an absolute truth so do the scientific community in regards to evolution and to question them is heresy. Both are wrong, but both might be right.
Maybe Adam was a monkey. Who knows. I do know that The Kinks Apeman is one groovy tune.
Since you asked for more information on the fossil record, here are a few links. There is a fairly rich fossil record for horses: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fhc/Stratmap1.htm
There is also a fairly rich fossil record for people: http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/biology/humanevolution/fosrec.html
The fossil record for some animals is more scant. For example, jellyfish, because being soft-bodied there are fewer fossils. This would be a weakness in evolutionary theory that could be mentioned, I guess, in Texas.
The DNA evidence for evolution is even stronger, overwhelming would be the best word.
So evolution may be "only" a theory but it is extremely well-supported and there are currently no competing scientific theories.
If man evolved from monkey, why are there still monkeys? Kind of contradictory to the point of evolving. I do however stand by my point regarding The Kinks Apeman... BEST AIRDRUM SONG EVER!
More importantly, I wonder if some knucklehead Homo Erectus tried to scare the shit out of the rest of his tribe to give up their nuts and berries and change their hunting and gathering ways for a more eco-friendly and sustainable neo-agrarian lifestyle considering that the carbon dioxide levels back then were about 10 times what they are today.
My guess is that there was, but he probably got his head bashed in with a rock.
Scientology is looking better and better everyday. HAIL XENON!!!
I'm going to assume that your questions about monkeys was a joke and you're not that ignorant about the theory of evolution.
Oh I'm sorry I forgot that the argument is now that we share a second cousin and not a grandparent with Cornelius. Man as a direct descendant of ape was the widely held conensus view for a long time. A shift in the theory mind you was not brought about by any new discovery of evidence but rather as a result of the lack of any actual proof. Don't try and insult me cuz you move the goal lines.
Man has been top of food chain for quite some time, it would only make sense that our closest cousins would have wanted to join the party. We mailed the invite a couple hundred thousand yeara ago.
So forgive my ignirance but the question remains and will remain unanswered by not just you but the scientific community at large because there is zero proof of one species becoming another. Pictures of horses growing bigger notwithstanding of course.
always funny to me.
We are "direct descendents" of apes...
Where's your proof?
We are "distant cousins"...
The world is coming to an end due to "global warming"....
The earth is cooling.
The world is coming to an end due to "cimate change".....
Just keep changing the story so you can never be wrong..Genius!
