The Debate Is Over...

The Global Warming Debate is indeed over.....

'House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated'

Washington, DC --

UK's Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.
“The House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told
Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.”
According to Monckton,
Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), Ranking Member on the Energy & Commerce Committee, had invited him to go head to head with Gore and testify at the hearing on Capitol Hill Friday. But Monckton now says that when his airplane from London landed in the U.S. on Thursday, he was informed that the former Vice-President had “chickened out” and there would be no joint appearance. Gore is scheduled to testify on Friday to the Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment's fourth day of hearings on the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. The hearing will be held in 2123 Rayburn House Office Building.

Lord Monckton, a longtime global warming skeptic, was an advisor to Thatcher but he is not and never has been a scientist.

Nor Gore.

True enough. And Monckton has testified before Congress before. I read your link. The "House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated"" quote is from Monckton. He also talks about the threat to his "free speech". Last I heard the First Amendment doesn't extend to a right to testify before Congress. Anyway, you and I will never agree on GW.

Can we at least agree that Gore is a pussy unwilling to debate the topic?

I don't agree Gore is a pussy but it appears he doesn't want to debate Monckton. Politically, that makes sense. GW skeptics are a shrinking minority who are losing the political and scientific debate. Why give them a platform?

In other words.... a pussy.

Whenever I see Gore I think of the opening minutes of Michael Moore's Farenheight 9/11. If only ... But at least the Bush nightmare is over, although we will be living with the consequences for a long time.

seriously it doesn't make sense for ANYONE to debate global warming because then they would have to admit that THERE IS A DEBATE. People who disagree with algore aren't skeptics, they're right.

So now there's no debate? Really? What about the opinions of just about every scientific society in the world? I know, somehow you KNOW they're wrong because of some article Drudge linked to or whatever. There is a debate and your side is losing the argument.

But I'm REALLY tired of arguing with you on GW. What do you think of gay marriage? It's going to be fun watching the religious Right lose on that one.

Not interested in opinions Gary, where is the proof? Oh yeah.. there is none. None. Just opinions.

Not good enough.

When the National Academy of Science has an opinion, I would say it's an informed opinion. Unlike yours. You are using the same tactics as the evolution deniers, that is asking for one "proof" for something that is proven by thousands of studies and thousands of pieces of converging evidence.

Donkeyhue said...

Ok get it out of your system Bush is Hitler, Evolution denier, proto-fascist neo-con, Exxon is Devil blah blah fucking blah.

I notice you didnt offer any proof. In fact now that I think about it, youve never offered any proof.

Im not picky I dont need "THE ONE" proof. ANY proof will do. Actual proof that is not based on computer models or "opinions" please.

Prove that the scant output of man's output to an already classified trace element in the atmosphere is the sole cause of recent cyclical temperature variations that would warrant the political and legislative actions currently being taken against it ie excessive taxation and the destruction of industry.

You have none and that is why you offer none because there is none.

Regarding gay marriage, all I have to say is... Congratulations!!! Whats his name?

OK, how about all the studies that show that the ice in the arctic is melting? Ice free summers very soon. And as the ice melts less sunlight is reflected, causing more warming. Or the melting of the perma frost, which releases more methane causing more warming. I could take the time to find you two dozen links referring to actual scientific studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, but it wouldn't convince you.

As for the computer simulations and mathematical models they were wrong. As the actual data come in they are being shown to be too conservative. The actual rate of global warming is worse than the models.

But ten thousand studies wouldn't convince you. Although you are unable to cite any studies on your side. Not op-ed pieces, peer-reviewed scientific literature.

The debate is over. You lost.

How bout it? Ice melts.

Funny thing is I dont even think you realize you just made a case against yourself. I ask you to prove that man's co2 is responsible which for obvious reasons you cant and you go on to reference methane and sunlight.

Which for the record is more than could be said for all your esteemed scientists at the IPCC who forget to factor in the sun for their first three studies, and only in passing in their fourth. Yeah thats right the sun, and the big dumb scientists didnt even factor it in regarding the earths temperature. Idjits.

Thank you for being honest enough to admit that CO2 plays a small role and the CO2 of man even less in the cyclical weather patterns of earth. I knew you'd come around eventually is you stuck around The Aurora long enough.
