Free Willy

No the title does not refer to a bad Monica Lewinksy Bill Clinton joke.

Im talking about whales. You know, whales like Orca, from those catchy enviromental bumper stickers on your hippie neighbor's Volvo back in the nineties that we all used to get a kick out of.

Well it seems that the greenies have forgotten the whales and by forgotten them I mean hate them and want them to die.

See, global warming alarmists, uh I mean "climate change" alarmists want whales to die. Dead. They want you to buy more expensive lightbulbs and hundred dollar tickets to an Earth Day Rock and Roll Show so that whales will die.

They say warming is a bad thing so that they can tax industry and capitalist countries but Im not so sure how their forgotten friends the whales feel about all this....

Cornell Was My Backup School

This is why Al Gore and his Greendaliers have to make the argument about morality and not the science which has never been on their side.

This is why it is no longer "global warming" but rather "climate change".

This is why they are full of shit.

"The findings are significant because soils are by far the world's largest source of carbon dioxide, producing 10 times more carbon dioxide each year than all the carbon dioxide emissions from human activities combined. Small changes in how carbon emissions from soils are estimated, therefore, can have a large impact." link

What? Something other than man and industry having an impact on the climate?

Inconceivable!

I tax thee soil. I tax thee to HELL!!!

The Final Betrayal?

I hope so. Through the years The Aurora has chronicled all the ways that the Bush administration has betrayed us. We focused mostly on his spending which was out of control for his entire administration, plus we blasted him for his protectionist actions with the steel tariffs and his complete failure on illegal immigration.
More recently we lamented his approval of the LOST treaty and of course his socialist bailout of the financial industry and this bullshit TARP program.

Now this:

In one month of legislation and one diplomatic meeting, the United States has unilaterally abdicated all the gains for the concept of free markets won by the Reagan administration and surrendered, in toto, to the Western European model of socialism, stagnation and excessive government regulation. Sovereignty is out the window. Without a vote, we are suddenly members of the European Union. Given the dismal record of those nations at creating jobs and sustaining growth, merger with the Europeans is like a partnership with death.

AAR!

This is an open letter of apology to the saleswoman at M Newman Furniture store in Jersey City, NJ that I called a liar ( and a few other choice words) a few years back.

At the time I had just moved into a new place and needed some new couches. Long story short after about four months I had bought two sets from two different stores and for various reasons neither were able to deliver. At wits end and still couchless I decided on a mom and pop store across the river in Joisey that had the exact Italian leather dual reclining set I wanted and as bonus I would save a few bucks on the sales tax.

Explaining my situation to the saleswoman I was assured that I would not be disappointed by the level of service at their store. So I placed my order, crossed my fingers and waited patiently at home on a metal milk crate.

Two weeks go by no couches.

Dont worry Im told they are en route. A month goes by no couches. Dont worry Im told they are en route.

Needless to say I was not a happy camper and had a stiff back to boot. The constant reassurance and the grandmotherly disposition of the saleswoman convinced me to hang in there, afterall I had waited this long, surely the couches were on their way.

Another week passes and Im about to lose my mind, good posture, and patience as well...so I get this woman on the horn one more time.

"Im sorry Mr Donkeyhue, but it seems your couches have been hijacked by pirates off the coast of Corsica"

You've got to be kidding me. Pirates?

Tell me anything, spin it any way you so want but do NOT fucking tell me that my furniture has been shanghaied...I just didn't buy it, and had to throw the bullshit flag. I really tore into this woman for the blatant lie she was telling me.
Pirates dont actually exist anymore. Do they?
Well as we all know now from the news, apparently they do ... so for doubting you, for taking my business elsewhere, but mostly I apologize for berating you. I dont really think you should go out to pasture and die like a fat sickly cow.
Im sorry baby I didn't mean to hurt you.

An old post I republish out of laziness everytime pirates are in the news.

Scientists Are Stoopid

"But whether, on the basis of such evidence, it is wise for the world's governments to embark on some of the most costly economic measures ever proposed, to remedy a problem which may actually not exist, is a question which should give us all pause for thought." link

What The Aurora has been saying for years.

Pulitzer Winner?

Not for anything having to do with economics I hope because the guy just doesn't get it.

As Milton Friedman once famously said to Ted Kennedy "Senator, socialism hasn't worked in 6,000 years of recorded history," explained Friedman. "Why won't you give up on it?"

I have the same question for Thomas Friedman (no relation) of the NY Times after his most recent op-ed. Now don't get me wrong, as NY Times op-ed guys go he's one of the least stupid, and in fact there are many points he makes in this piece that i agree with. However just the fact that he thinks a government appointed "reciever" could run the big auto companies any more efficiently than the current knuckleheads who are doing it defies any knowledge of how government actually works.

Still very flat

Happy Veterans Day

Today we honor all American veterans for their service to our great country and The Aurora would just like to say Thank You to all who have served or are currently serving. We appreciate your sacrifice.

Of the 16 million Americans who served in the military in World War Two, there are about 2.4 million still living. Over 1,000 die every day. All too soon, it will be too late, to ask to hear their stories.

Donkey's Revenge

There are movers and there are shakers and then there are people that can do a mean Teddy Rukpin.

Getting down with my upwardly mobile self I was recently acquired by a bigger and better firm. Ive been with the same firm for over ten years and its never easy making a move especially in tough economic times like we are in but sometimes you have to take one step backwards to move two steps forward and other times you get lucky and move three steps forward to make a giant leap for donkeykind.

Im at the stage in the game where I dont need new friends so when I go to work its business time. Happy hours and softball leagues no longer appeal to me.

However with big moves come small acclimations like where to get the fastest shoe shine or a hot shave nearby. What are the feeding patterns of the local office workers as to avoid the lunchtime crunch. Where is the nearest massage parlour and more importantly do they offer four hands. Who serves the best cup of coffee.

See, Ive never been a starbucker. I keeps it real street cart style. Not a statement I just think their coffee tastes like shit and I hate waiting in lines for anything. Problem is my new office is in The Starbuck Triangle (no joke eight within one city block) and my body being unaccustomed to being awake at seven am I was in a jam last week and made a judgement call. A bad judgement call.

I ordered a medium coffee. It cost $4.06. I gave the clerk $10.

Heres where it gets fun.

She handed me $1.94. Without moving my hand away from her I pointed out that the change was wrong and it should have been $5.94. Apparently she was a frozen caveman barrista because my advanced mathematics scared and confused her so she took the dollar back put it in the register then took out the drawer and disappeared in the back for about five minutes.

Upon hearing the dreaded threat of wanting to see a manager see comes back and states that the change was right since her register is not short. I point out that it would be long and not short and this confused her even more. So I appealed to her common sense in that she saw the $1.94 and that there was no denomination I possibly could have given her besides a ten that would result in that change for a $4.06 cup of coffee.

Here where it gets awesome.

She says that after she handed me my change she put her head down for five seconds and shes not responsible for what I may have or may not have done with the fin she gave me and that I apparently pocketed.

Flabbergasted I ask to see a manager which of course there is none on shift.

Now Im ready to set the place on fire and this is where the human instinct of fight vs flight kicks in but since Im not going to fight (or throw coffee) at a girl I flee with my tail between my legs and my four fucking dollar cup of coffee in my hand.

(this was the day after election so I made a comment about the wheels already coming off the apple cart and while it wasnt appreciated isnt important and had no bearing on this discussion)

Point is. She robbed me of five dollars, either from incompetence or malice, and she won the battle.

I win the war. Suckit Starbucks.

For Anita Our Pal

Who thinks that the recent election resulted in a mandate for progressive politics and the death of "radical evangelicalism".

California Election Results:

President

Obama - 61%
McCain - 37%

Proposition 8 Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry

In Favor - 52%
Against - 47%

GAY MARRIAGE HAS BEEN REBUKED BY DEMOCRATS

Personally Im against all marriage so the issue of same sex marriage isnt important to me but you libs sure do seem to get your rainbow colored leather bicycle shorts in a bunch over it so its got to sting knowing that your fellow dems consistently vote with them crazy evangelicals against your own peeps on this issue (not to mention that every mainstream dem candidate is against it as well) I shall call it the Seacrest Effect.

But dont worry, youll forget all about it when the realization sinks in that we are still in Iraq (and probably a few more places if Obama has his way) in four years.

The Aurora has NEVER been REBUKED and once again will be proven right when the anti-war crowd prove they were full of shit all along and rally around President Obama as he sends troops into Pakistan or Somalia.

Mark my words.

Rebuke of Conservatives?

No, rebuked BY conservatives!

How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver's licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy? How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so? How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the "rich," when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?

Ann Coulter Rules!

Tomorrow Is Today

"Tomorrow is the last day that America will be a First World country as we go through the motions of a "free and fair" election. By evening, we will sit stunned as the last vestiges of liberty swirl down the gutter of history and more folks climb into the wagon, expecting to be pushed.
And as Chicago smolders by dawn on Wednesday, we will awaken in The America We Deserve for our gross lassitude and negligence. We have no excuse. We were warned." -- See Jane Mom

Wow, Obama Really Is A Good Speaker

Heres The Truth Bout When I Step In The Booth

I have never voted for a Republican President.

I do not like John McCain very much at all.

I will vote for him tomorrow with clear conscience knowing that as weak as he is, he is by far the better candidate and that the alternative will result in catastrophe.

Catastrophe.

(dont worry Ive never voted for a democrat either)
