Stupid is as Stupid Does

Getlive sent me an article today written by a Harvard economist that says pretty much exactly what i've been saying all along, except of course this guy says it smarter, and i'm MUCH better looking. I should be teaching at Harvard.

Check it out here:

Panic Decision Making

You're in a panic, the pressure is on, you need to decide now! What are the odds you thought that through?
There are other options to fix our current financial situation but how many in congress actually considered these other options? Most of these idiots (bi-partisan) don't care and don't understand. They want this thing to go away.
I'm not saying Washington shouldn't do anything, in fact i'm thinking it's their fault to begin with (bi-partisan) due to their stupid regulation, or non-regulation and they need to fix it. What I am saying however is that there are other options.

I heard Mike Pence (R. IN) yesterday and he seemed to make sense to me so I looked up the plan he was talking about and I think it could work. I'm not an economist, and I'm certainly not as smart as Hank Paulson, but I bet there's some pretty smart people writing up these alternative plans so shouldn't they be considered before we allow the government to take over a large percentage of the private sector financial industry?

Check out the Pence Plan

Morning Joe or Mourning Joe?

Donkey and I had a disagreement a few months ago about Joe Scarborough.

My argument was that Joe is a Republican In Name Only (RINO). He gets on my nerves. Donkey disagree's and thinks he's relatively conservative. I think Donkey watches too much MSNBC because of his man-crush Pat Buchanan. Scarborough is more conservative than the other hosts on that channnel, but that's like comparing France to the old USSR. They may not be commies, but they're still socialists.

I think i put this debate to rest once and for all with this Scarborough quote from this morning.

"Our next guest, the man we trust to give it to us straight, we love him, we respect him, one of our favorites, Christopher Dodd!"........... Nuff Said.

So why do I watch the show you ask?

MIKA!

Debate Snoozer

Easily one of the most boring debates I've ever seen.

No big slip ups, no great one liners. Not too many interesting moments and frankly i was disappointed with McCains performance in regards to the economy and especially taxes. When Obama said he was going to cut taxes for 95% of Americans couldn't McCain have asked him about his proposed increase in capital gains taxes that would affect most of the country?

One other interesting thing was the "I've got a bracelet too" comment with Obama. Unlike McCain, who easily recalled the name and situation of his bracelet honoree, Obama had to look at his wrist to recall the name on his bracelet.

I watched the wrap up on Fox. Fred Barnes seemed as bored as myself and gave a slight edge to McCain. The chick from Fortune Magazine said it was a McCain Blowout. Juan Williams gave a slight edge to Obama and Dick Morris gave a slight edge to Obama.

Morris made the most sense of them all. His analysis basically was that he thought Obama scored a little bit better on the economy and McCain easily won the foriegn policy part. His thought is that the economy is a bigger issue right now so he gave the edge to Obama.

Either way, as I said to Donkey last night I don't think anybody is deciding who to vote for based on theses debates unless there's a major gaffe.

Bring on the VP's!

I was wondering

If the House Dems really think this bailout bill is the way to go, I mean if they really think it's the right thing for the country and it will work. Then why do they need the republicans? They have the majority, they run the house, and they have a majority. Even if they lose a couple of conservative Dems, i'm sure there's a few Republicans that will go along and Pelosi can call a vote whenever she wants, so what's the holdup?

Could it be that they don't really believe in it?

The Man Who Never Was

As any long time reader of the Aurora (Jimbo and Anita) will tell you, I have been railing against liberal media bias for years. It's so pervasive that there are multiple websites dedicated to pointing it out and if they had a hundred staffers working 24 hours a day they wouldn't be able to find all of the instances of bias in the main stream media.

I heard Dick Morris say once that when he was working for the Clinton administration they would always release the bad news to CNN first because they knew it would get a good spin for them. He said they joked that CNN stood for the Clinton News Network. That's pretty bad, but that's only one station, and of course the NY Slimes which as far as i can tell has always been a liberal stronghold.

All that being said however, the way things are going now is unprecedented in my experience as a political junkie. The treatment of Obama vs McCain or really anyone, including Hillary is absolutely off the charts ridiculous. Now i'm not shedding any tears for the Clintons, turn about is fair play sometimes, but that just goes to show you how deep in the tank the media is for Obama.

Tony Blankley knows what I'm saying.

Change? Or More Of The Same

"Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager."

Oops

Funny how you dont hear much about "draft dodging" when its a democrat.

This is from Newsbusters and it's got to be one of the funniest things i've seen in a while. Maybe Mr. Spock is the editor, or maybe it's Joe Biden. Either way it cracks me up.

It was incredibly odd to watch the Washington Post denounce a McCain ad for using such a flimsy source as...The Washington Post. But James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal really used the perfect metaphor to mock it on Monday, a Star Trek episode where an all-powerful computer had to be fed self-contradictory statements so it would self-destruct

The Haircut

One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut. After the cut he asks about his bill and the barber replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The florist is pleased and leaves the shop.

When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The cop is happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Later that day, a college professor comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The professor is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen different books, such as ‘How to Improve Your Business’ and ‘Becoming More Successful.

Then, a Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The Congressman is very happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when the barber goes to open up, there are a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

Sometimes When A Woman Says No, She Really Means Yes

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when asked Tuesday whether Democrats bear some of the responsibility regarding the current crisis on Wall Street, had a one-word answer: “No.”

Pelosi (D-Calif.) ripped President Bush’s “mismanagement” of the economy and a lack of regulation that led to the current situation.“I think the American people have had it with this situation where the middle-income people in our country are not protected from the ramifications of the risk-taking and the greed of these financial institutions,” Pelosi told MSNBC. "
link

No? Really? Seriously No??? Thats your answer?

Funny. I remember a few years back when Bush attempted to reform both of those shitstorms better known as Fannie and Freddie to clean up the mess created by Clinton's cronies and was met with nothing but resistance by the dems.

Take for example....

''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.'' link and h/t to hotair

This was Frank's response to President Bush's effort to reform Freddie and Fannie five years ago. Not facing any kind of crisis? None whatsoever Barney? Not even a little bit of financial crisis?

Well I suppose its a matter of perspective and certainly not as bad a crisis as a gay Georgetown brothel running out of nitrate poppers and wine coolers but seriously that was your call Barney.... "not facing any kind of financial crisis" any?

So if noone minds Im gonna take that as a yes if thats alright with you nancy. That goes for you too Pelosi.

It should be noted that Barney Frank has been rewarded for his super awesome call by being named Chair of aforementioned committee.

On another note...

All this talk about experience from the dems and here you have the Chair of the Ways and Means not knowing what taxable income is and the Chair of Finance missing the call on perhaps the biggest financial debacle of our lifetime. If thats the type of experience dems bring to the table then quite frankly Im gonna start having the shoeshine boy start picking my investments.

And another thing....

Fuck affordable housing. If you cant afford a house you rent. Deal with it.

Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel Are Pikers

Friends from Jersey always brag how Bruce sells out Giants Stadium seven nights straight.

Friends from Long Island talk smack how Billy Joel has performed at Madison Square Garden more than any other artist.

but...

There is only one performer that has performed back to back to back sold out shows at the Cayuga Speedway and I was there to rock them all. Like the old fm radio ad said... you know its summer when theyre rocking at Weedsport!

Only one performer, one man, one singer that is known simply as...

THE VOICE!

... and the only artist with a Number 1 hit record that I had the honor and privilege to terrorize as a teenager by throwing snowballs upside his head as he was shoveling his driveway.

I present to you The Benny Mardones Story

Charlie And The Jackass Factory

Forget for a moment that he was illegally receiving numerous rent controlled apartments from a political donor and then illegally using said residential units for business.

Ignore that he was illegally using his office letterhead for fundraising.

Pretend you know nothing about the 0% interest mortgage he received (squid pro row?) from a campaign contributor.

Pay no attention to the fact that he illegally failed to declare $75,000 income from a rental property on his taxes.

I always knew Rep. Charles Rangel was a scum bag so none of this surprises me.

What should concern EVERY American is that the Chairman of the Committee of Ways and Means has said that he doesnt know what taxable income is as his defense. Let me repeat, The Chairman of the Committe of Ways and Means said he doesnt know what taxable income is as his defense.

and..

What should disgust EVERY American is the fact that the the culture of corruption is so accepted in Washington that these d-bags dont even step down anymore when caught breaking the law and for this I directly blame the Clinton Presidency. That is his legacy.

and one more thing...

I gotta take a shot at the media. All we heard on the news was Jack The Hat Abramoff for two years and yet when its a dem not a fucking peep and Ill tell you what this might be where Sarah Palin has her most important impact (well before shes elected President that is) in the sense that shes opened up the eyes of a whole hell of a lotta people that normally wouldnt pay attention or even care about the blatant media bias and its lookin' like they dont like it one bit.

I hate to quote Sean Hannity since I think hes a tool but hes dead balls right when he declares that Journalism is DEAD!

Sorry Charlie

Youre a jackass!

Ah! Leigh-a!!!

I was recently watching Fast Times At Ridgemont High and not the crappy "is he gonna freak or is he gonna kill us" edited version but the real deal holyfield on the HBO.

Some would argue that this movie is famous for its star-making performances from Nicolas Cage as Football Fan #4 and Anthony Edwards as Stoner #2 but if you ask me or any man for a review of this movie the two words you will hear are not "thumbs up" but rather an emphatic "PHOEBE CATES"

Nuff said. Everyone will understand. Her boobs have taken on an iconic almost mythical status.

So much so that I once actually gave serious consideration to kidnapping her after a chance encounter in front of Madison Square Garden. Looking back I'd almost want to swing by her store on Madison Avenue to apologize if it wasn't for that pesky restraining order.

But then something unexpected happened about thirty minutes into the movie. I had an epiphany the likes of which hasnt been witnessed since Newton got hit on the head with an apple. Jennifer Jason Leigh was hotter than Phoebe Cates.

Yeah that's right, I said it...

Jennifer Jason Leigh was hotter than Phoebe Cates.

I almost feel bad now for neglecting her all these years, that I never spent any quality time with myself in her honor or ever attempt to accost her on the street for fooks sake..

So making up for lost time I now present to you this video montage homage to The Forgotten One of Ridgemont High.

Take it away Donny...

I swear it's not made up!

What's the matter, smartass, you don't know any fuckin' Mallard Fillmore®?

This cartoon was published on September 5th

Obama gave his now infamous lipstick speech on September 9th

"Watch out, George Bush - except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl-Rove-style politics, we're really gonna shake things up in Washington."

Fair Is Fair

Ok enough with the Palin Oprah non-story already.

Good conservatives do not support the Fairness Doctrine and that works both ways. If we dont want the Federalis telling us what talk radio has to program then we must allow Oprah to have or not have whoever the fuck she wants as a guest. Its her show and although I believe she is the anti-Christ we must respect her right to run her company however she best sees fit and if that means alienating her largely white female audience then so be it.

Not to mention the whining smacks of the exact same sexism that the McCain campaign are rightly and justifiably accusing the left of being guilty of. Just because Palin is a woman doesnt mean she has to be on a show that famously celebrates some of America's finest lefty liberal women like Maya Angelou Tom Cruise and Barack Obama.

Screw that nonsense I wanna see Palin on Spike TV's Trucks overhaulin' a F150 for tundra off-roading.

McCains Speech Good and Bad

Everyone knows John McCain doesn't do well reading off of a teleprompter. He's much better when he's just being himself.
That being said, his speech was terrible, maybe even painful.

So that's the bad.

On the good side, The Giants beat the Redskins 16-7 last night.

1-2 Punch

Last night i watched the best 1-2 punch i've ever seen in a political convention.

Rudy was incredible. Some of his most effective lines....

"Change is not a destination, just like hope is not a strategy"

"Then he ran for the state legislature, where nearly 130 times he was unable to make a decision yes or no. He simply voted 'present.'" ...... "he couldn't decide........ it was too tough!"

Really just hands down one of the best speeches all around.

Sarah Palin, well what can i say. She was witty, sarcastic, factual, and just on point all night. Lots of gut shots.

"But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate."

" This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign."

And one of the most effective lines that i heard was....

"I might add that in small towns, we don't quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren't listening.
We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco. "

Wow

Take My Hand

There's an old saying that if the Queen had balls she'd be King. Well it seems that it has taken a woman to finally give the Republicans a sack.

For years us rank and file conservatives have griped and rightly so about the liberal media bias only to turn on cable news or the Sunday programs and watch our stewards of the Republican party meekly put their cuckolded elephant trunks between their legs as they let the Brokaws, the Rathers, the Matthews, The Gregorys, The Donners and The Blitzers spew their lefty propaganda.

Well that shit ends right here right now.

Like I was telling Rhino earlier today any problem can be directly traced back to studied explained and understood by barroom situations.

Case Study A: Me and Rhino are drinking and some sloppy obnoxious drunk calls him a spic, none of my business (unless he really really really needs help)

Case Study B: Me and my girl are drinking and some sloppy obnoxious drunk calls her a spic, I'm knocking him the fuck out without thinking twice about it.

In case you need it spelled out, the liberal media and the democrat party are the sloppy obnoxious drunks and Governor Sarah Palin is my girl. Our girl. Our future Vice President of the United States of America.

Now forgive my misogyny as I am a self admitted old fashioned cave dwelling troglodyte and although I have no doubt that she doesn't need mine or anyone elses help and if you put Gov Palin and ANYONE on the left in a cage match, it will be Gov Palin and Gov Palin alone that walks out the fact still remains that while liberal men have been busy feminizing themselves to get in touch with their sensitive side showing that they are the equals of their fellow Vagina-AmericansTM (stolen from the chick on The Daily Show) us Good Ol Boy Conservatives still don't take too kindly to the mistreatment of our womenfolk whether they can handle themselves or not.

Like I said...

It ends right here right now.

Finally, Republicans are fighting back in the news. Every show I turn on there's another Republican calling out the bullshit of the liberal attack machine. Finally!

Bill Bennett, Newt, Buchanan etc are giving the smack down to their liberal counterparts night after night. Hell even the actor Jon Voight got in on the action bitch slapping Alan Colmes the other night.

Newsbusters.com is now hands down my favorite website just watching video clips of lib after lib get schooled.

And the thing is, like most paper bag bullies they are backing down like cowards, spineless fucking cowards because they know they are wrong but have gotten away with it for so long they dont even know whats right. Not to mention that theyre stupid, very very stupid and when confronted with actual facts logic reason and common sense they dont have a fuckin' peep to say without their daily kos cue card to read from.

It ends.

Here.

Now.

(rumor has it Gov Palin will walk onstage tonight to Metallica's Enter Sandman, cuz she about to knock Obama/Biden the fuck out)

Is the Media Dead?

Lets examine some of the evidence.

The NY Times is the paper that leads most news stories. From other newspapers to nightly news reports they get their stories from the Times. Yesterdays NY Times had 3 FRONT PAGE stories about the seventeen year old daughter of the republican vice presidential nominee.

How many front page stories about Obama's friendship with, political relationship with, and business relationship with a known terrorist yesterday or ever?.............. 0

The media is asking how much foriegn policy experience does Sarah Palin have?

Well how much did any governor have before being elected?

Bush 2-0

Clinton -0

Reagan-0

Carter-0

FDR-0

How much foreign policy experience does Obama have????.....0 and he's not the vice presidential candidate, he's the top guy on the ticket.

How many times has the NY Times pointed this out on the front page? 0

You do the math.

I Take It Back

I was wrong. Keith Olbermann isnt funny after all. Not even in an ironic is he spoofing Stephen Colbert or not kind of way.

He is very very sad. Pathetic even.

Kind of like the transition scene in Wedding Crashers when it was hilarious the whole movie and then next thing you know Owen Wilson is reading self-help books wants to kill himself then starts trolling funerals.

Thats Keith Olbermann.
