Yes i borrowed the title and the idea from TBR, but at least i'm giving them some credit here. Besides, this is one that they won't do and i think it's important.
“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson
I think this Drew Johnson guy is absolutely correct. If you spend your life preaching something to the world you should follow your own commandments.
If you tell everyone they have to sacrifice their own personal comfort for the good of the world and future generations, then you should also sacrifice your own personal comfort.
If you become extremely wealthy and famous and win prestigious awards as a direct result of villifying a certain life style, then you shouldn't live that life style.
Does anyone disagree? Hmmm.....
In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

Rhino this issue has actually been hashed out many times, and the Gores have actually answered many questions about this. Gore's home is also used for many other purposes and the whole breakdown of energy use has been investigated including figuring out how much he uses as compared to his staff and in meeting or other spaces.
This is kind of like including your office use with your home, it's apples and oranges.
I do however agree that people must walk the walk BUT I don't agree with the idea that because you think Gore sucks, the cause sucks. Whether or not Gore is an ass or not, he has raised awareness and I am not in a position to figure out the degree of personal integrity here. I'm not a Gore expert.
Many people on the right though confuse personalities with the issues- and I think we need to focus on the science, objective facts, and not really the scruples of the messenger.
I don't like Bono, but I send money to Amnesty. One has nothing to do with the other. The "right" have a tendency to pick at people, not issues and think that if they can poke holes in character it equates to holes in the issue at hand. That's juvenile reasoning.
As for TBR, I don't think they are posting new material at that site anymore and everyone has gone off to other things. I am not able to post on such things anymore and I don't.
LB
Actually, i disagree with you on everything you said. I don't think it's apples and oranges. If he believes the world will come to an end if EVERYONE doesn't change their habits then he should change his instead of buying carbon credits.
I didn't do this post because Gore sucks. He does, but the reason why i do the post is because man made global warming is not real, and in fact the awareness is a farce.
I also disagree with the personality thing and think it's just the opposite. The science says that the earth is NOT warming and hasn't been warming for a few years now. Over 30k scientists signed a petition saying that man has little or no affect on climate change. That is compared to a political body (ipcc) at the U.N. that says the opposite. When i bring this up to my friends on the left they claim everyone who disagrees is being paid by exxon mobil....????? Plus, i stole the idea from TBR, hardly a right wing hangout.
I don't poke holes in character for the sake of discrediting someone's point of view. I do it for the fun of character assasination. However, i also have the facts to back me up.
If you want to post on any topic at all, from any view point at all, you're welcome to do so here at The Aurora. Nobody reads us, but i'm happy to argue with you and i'm sure donkey would be happy to call you names after he yells at me for inviting you.
Either way, thanks for stopping by and don't be a stranger.
Would you hire a lawyer that couldnt keep himself out of jail?
A fat trainer at the gym?
A non-Irish bartender?
Your ad hominem generalization about the "right" is without merit here. I can assure you that there is no confusion about the difference between the personality and the issue here... they are both frauds.
However I find it promising that you are beginning to take a more "hands off" approach to the corporate world in your defense of Gore's usueage as business related (apples and oranges are both BigAg) but Im curious to know if you give Big Oil Wall Street Walmart and all the other evil entities the same benfit of the doubt?
Al Gore made it a moral issue and hes the one that made it about him personally the individual so his morality and behavior is very much an issue. His movie has been thoroughly debunked and discredited. His cause has been found to be without any actual scientific merit only mass hysteria consensus of opinion at best. His personal actions are in direct contradiction to the very solutions that he proposes that the everyman take, solutions that mind you will have a mathematically insignignificant impact at best.
There will be only taxes that remain when this recent scaremongering money grab passes just like the rest of them.
Well said donk.
Lets not talk about this issue anymore. It makes me want to get violent and not in a computer generated theory sort of way.... I really just want to punch the next person I see in a designer Earth Day t-shirt straight shot to their jowls.
There is just no reasoning with the left (and it is a lefty issue about giving up US sovereignty and taxing/restricting Corporate America) on this one, not that there are any issues that you can.
When standard rebuttals are along the the lines of...
"Al Gore said"
"The polar bears are drowning"
"Exxon is THE DEVIL"
and the classic consensus cop-out
"Everyone else says so"
In a way it almost reminds me of the great AIDS scare of the 80's when they had to scare the bejesus out of everyone from fucking to raise money for their rock concerts and pink ribbons making my job as a vagina loving condom hating non needle using white male all that more difficult when in fact we knew then what we know that statistically the chances of catching the hiv were virtually non-existent if you werent a junkie or a butt pirate.
The only difference between between the AIDS scare and the end of the world doom and gloom warming alarmists is that nowadays the pussies CAN hurt you and the biggest pussy of them all is Al Gore (yeah nice endorsement of Obama AFTER he seals up the nomination you fucking pussy)
Both sides play the fear card and its a low down dirty trick preying on the weakness of the masses but at least when the neocons try to scare you its based on the reality that terrorists actually do want to kill you. Its not theory or opinion. They have killed before they will kill again. FACT.
Well said donk.
Trust me, Rhino. Donk does not want me here. And to be honest, Gore and the Clintons and the Kennedys and Bono and Bradd Pitt can all go the fuck to hell because this is all whiskey for the baby here. I don't even care anymore.
How about that? Scientists are asses, politicians are asses, the public COLLECTIVELY are asses and actually I should apologize to asses.
Except for Donkey.
I have never been so hateful of society and everyone as I am right now and I think we all deserve our demise.
So you won't get a fight from me today.
And for the last time I don't mean EVERYONE on the right just as the left is full of stupid people also. Both sides are full of stupid people and I don't want to associate with anyone.
Whether we caused it or not, nobody is going to do anything anyway so load up your ammo and get ready to fight over water. Who cares anymore about the arguments.
And ok yes it does piss me off that Gore uses so damn much electricity when I am sitting here rinsing out fucking ketchup jars to recycle but they are all full of it or we would not be in this mess would we? They played us.
We lose.
Wow. Are you ok?
If i still worked in melville i'd take you out for a drink because it sounds like you need one.
You are more than welcome here.
Wait...
Did someone say drinks?
Easy Donkey. I think it's your turn to buy.
