NASA's Top Official Questions Global Warming
"I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists," Griffin told Inskeep. "I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with."
"To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change," Griffin said. "I guess I would ask which human beings — where and when — are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take"

Warts And All
Well it's like I've always said..... liberals do not love their Country. At least this traitor has the sack to admit it, although I must say her timing of betrayal on Memorial Day weekend strikes me as, well it strikes me like every other public stunt shes ever pulled..... classless and a disgrace to the memory of her fallen son.
"Goodbye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I cant make you be that country unless you want it," Cindy Sheehan
However my guess is this is about as sincere as anything shes every said or done --meaning not very, and more likely just a last ditch effort to stay irrelevant.

The New Slaves
Apparently, my position on immigration is that we must deport all 12 million illegal aliens immediately, inasmuch as this is billed as the only alternative to immediate amnesty. The jejune fact that we "can't deport them all" is supposed to lead ineluctably to the conclusion that we must grant amnesty to illegal aliens — and fast!

A Dried Up Goliath And A Weasel Named Free
To be clear on this, the onus of the current war in Iraq begins and ends with Saddam Hussein. There can no denying that he either possessed weapons of mass destruction as his refusal to submit to free range UN inspectors and his repeated violations of UN sanctions illustrates.
I could give two shits what any ones opinion is or the media's insistence that there is no smoking gun. Lets let common sense dictate for a moment and look at the facts...
A) We sold Saddam wmds
B) Saddam used wmds before
But the glove didn't fit so we must acquit. As Uncle Walter famously demonstrated regarding the media's wartime coverage..... there is the truth and there is what the media reports. Nice call on the Tet Offensive jackasses, lemme guess you had Dewey winning too.
But all that notwithstanding, my main issue with this war besides the blatant but understandable tactical blunders was the morality police call for the democratization of the Middle East. No one in their right mind can possibly think that is a good thing (see: Hamas fear: Egypt, Pakistan, House of Cards... I mean Saud etc etcetera)
We should be there to kill bad guys to ensure the safety of America and our allies end of story.
However that being said, I may be changing my tune and after some conscience cleansing coming to accept the realization that armed struggle is the only means to ensure freedom from dictatorial or oligarchical tyranny.
On that note....
I am now openly pleading with Stormin' Norman to come out of retirement and stage a military coup on Washington as it is apparent that the the two party system has failed the American people and the self serving back slapping blind eye turning rampant corruption occurring on both sides (even if only reported on one) of the aisle can no longer go unpunished and unfortunately the sheepish electorate brain washed into silly arguments about black and white, roe v wade, straight or gay and jennifer or angelina continue to elect them so therefore have lost that right says me.
Oh, Fee, you're trying to live a life

Worst President Ever?
I still say it's FDR, but the argument for Carter is pretty impressive and i'm keeping an open mind.....
We didn't think we'd see the day when a president-elect of France would be more appreciative of America's role in the world than one of our own former presidents.
But here is Carter telling the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that President Bush's "administration has been the worst in history," one that has "endorsed the concept of pre-emptive war even when our own security is not directly threatened."
Later, Carter called his comments "careless or misinterpreted." But given a chance to retract, he didn't. Apparently the man whose idea of leadership was to sit in front of a fireplace and blame everything on America's "malaise" does not consider Islamofascists turning passenger jets into manned cruise missiles and flying them into skyscrapers a direct threat.
Nor does he consider himself responsible for the chain of events that gave us not only 9/11, but al-Qaida, the Taliban, Hezbollah and a nuclear Iran and North Korea.

Quote
"[W]e are confirmed in the opinion, that the present age would be deficient in their duty to God, their posterity and themselves, if they do not establish an American republic. This is the only form of government we wish to see established; for we can never be willingly subject to any other King than He who, being possessed of infinite wisdom, goodness and rectitude, is alone fit to possess unlimited power."

Linus Liberals
I may not be a kerryish debate club captain but I always at least try to argue the issue at hand. Granted I am a whore with the hyperbole and will throw around slurs like the yellowman makes soup, won-ton-ly that is, but there is usually a method to my madness and if I am taking something to the extreme you can be rest assured that I do so in a mocking manner of what I am arguing against, unfortunately that is usually lost in the keyboard translation.
On that note and allow me to be sidetracked for a moment to thank Jerry Falwell for his enormous contribution to our country, a contribution that is sorely forgotten these days. I am not one for religious demagogy and will make no reference to that obviously significant part of his life here.
What I am talking about is his failed lawsuit against Larry Flynt and Hustler over a satirical cartoon of him. His loss in that case set legal precedent that as a nation we are free to make fun of others and that human emotion can not be legislated. I think with what is going on these days with political correct sensitivity and the vilification and censoring of free speech we would be well served to revisit that case and stop being a bunch of sensitive crybabies.
As I was saying.....
I find the intellectual bankruptcy of the left to be a bore. It is nearly impossible to argue with a liberal, for when they lack the facts to back up their smack, as is oft the case, the left will resort to the age old security blanket from their thumb sucking youth …. name calling.
If I were to argue for a meritocratic system in our schools and workforce I would without a doubt be countered by charges of racism. A call for the protection of our borders would rest assured be met with accusations of xenophobia and a belief in the sanctimony of marriage being between a man and a woman would obviously make me a homophobe.
The issues are never be debated and in turn become nothing more than a glorified schoolyard pissing contest. Yes you are. No Im not. Are to. Are not. Liberalism in itself is a failed argument, that is why they must frame the argument to avoid actual debate, as demonstrated today by Pelosi's move to change House rules for the first time since 1822 to stifle Republican dissent.
I know I sound like a broken record and may myself be going overboard with the generalizations of continually calling the Democrat party and its followers nothing more than Hallmark card ideologues, but sadly it is the truth. Besides Sen. Joeseph Biden there has not been a single democrat that opposes the war that has offered a viable alternative to the current course in Iraq, well besides surrender that is. The single most issue important issue of our day and all the dem leadership has to say is that “war is bad”. Ok we all get that, now what?
Actually hold on a minute I misspoke and was being a self centered American again. I meant Iraq is the second most important issue we face today. The first obviously being the made up man made global warming fraud. We do after all only have five years (according to the Panda not Piper WWF) to solve this crisis or the way of the dinosaur we will go.
Which as always in a round about -- I’l be the round about the words will make you out and out -- kind of way brings me to my point. The main argument from the left besides that the debate is already over is that global warming exists because there is a consensus that says so, those that deny it are skeptics and that ExxonMobil is a big meanie.
Well until the day we once again revert to an Agrarian Luddistic society we are stuck with ExxonMobil, but of more concern to the left since the debate was never about the facts to begin with is what will happen to their argument when the believers become the skeptics and the skeptics become the consensus....When fact is fiction and tv reality?
Wipe your tears away libs.

Obscene Profits?
"So the question is, do corporate executives, provided they stay within the law, have responsibilities in their business activities other than to make as much money for their stockholders as possible? And my answer to that is, no they do not. " Milton Friedman
We’ve all heard the protestations by various poseurs and politicians, who want to investigate or restrain or regulate or apply punishing taxes to the “obscene profits” of big oil.
The best response to these demagogues and lunatics would be a flat-out declaration: profits are never obscene. Continued

Global Warming BJ And The Polar Bear
I told you they could swim and heck I aint evens a scientist....
"Toronto - Polar bears are the poster animals of global warming. The image of a polar bear floating on an ice floe is one of the most dramatic visual statements in the fight against rising temperatures in the Arctic.
But global warming is not killing the polar bears of Canada's eastern Arctic, according to one ongoing study. Scheduled for release next year, it says the number of polar bears in the Davis Strait area of Canada's eastern Arctic – one of 19 polar bear populations worldwide – has grown to 2,100, up from 850 in the mid-1980s.
"There aren't just a few more bears. There are a ... lot more bears," biologist Mitchell Taylor told the Nunatsiaq News of Iqaluit in the Arctic territory of Nunavut."

The Abomanation Snowman
I was at my second favorite bar that has free hot dog giveaways last night. Back in the day dun dun dun da it was numero uno as they would let me sleep (read: nap) in the back courtyard (a rarity in nyc) and have a breakfast bucket of Rheingolds awaiting my awakening. And on that note, as a public service announcement to those that may have problems getting out of bed in the morning, I highly recommend the "getting kicked in the kidney by a surly bartender" method.... needless to say its extremely effective, but hitting the snooze button may result in a smack to the jowls.
But alas like most things in the neighborhood -- it has become "hip" as the Starbucks baristas now outnumber the pornography purveyors at a twenty to one clip, fer fooks sake I can make my own coffee but barely legal Mennonite (I digs the bonnets what can I say) lesbian prison flicks ain't easy to come by anymore.
Okay enough of the back story.
The point of this post if there is one, is that as shockingly as it may seem, last evening I was engaged in a discussion with fine folks of the intelligentsia ilk with fancy degrees of the sort unpronounceable to a backwards hilljack such as myself. Now mind you, and this may come as a surprise I do not actively pursue confrontations, as debate amongst strangers rarely accomplishes anything, as truth be told most people are frickin idjits.... well that is unless of course I am looking for tail at a hippie rally.
Anyhue... some knucklehead made the comparison of Iraq to the Civil War in the sense that our voluntarily enlisted men and women in the Armed Forces are Bush's "slaves" that need to be freed, I believe the words were ... "from the bonds of tyranny". Besides the absolute stupidity of that comment in relation to current events I had to take issue with the historical angle.
Let me make something clear.....
The Civil War had absolutely NOTHING to do with slavery. It may have evolved into that, but its not the reason the South seceeded and its not the reason that the North fortified Sumtner provoking an attack. Once again, the Civil War had NOTHING to do with slavery. Period.
Without going into the details that I am confident our readers are aware of and making a short story long I referenced reasons that my adversories were completely unaware of after annus quattour. So on that note, The Aurora in conjunction with NYU and Columbia Universtiy will commence to offer an online correspondence school in continuation of our quest to enlighten the jackasses of the world.

"Those who really believe in God"
I dont think Im breaking any new ground here by stating that Al Sharpton is a hate mongering hypocrite, and it really doesnt bother me all that much that as a "man of the cloth" he is judging/condemning another man by his belief system and lets be honest that is exactly what he was doing -- whether he was inisinuating that Romney is not qualified because of the God he believes in or if we are to believe Al's excuse that he was referring to Hitchens -- the god that he doesn't -- they were the words of intolerance any way you slice it, and there is no place for it in the public discourse.
But lets be honest here... Al Sharpton is a joke. He was a joke back when he was running roughshod all anti-Semitic like around Crown Heights in an Adidas track suit and a Benz medallion around his neck and he is a joke now rabbling rousing in his Armani suits and Soul-Glo dome as the shit throwing attack dog of the Democrat Party.
...and that is what bother me.
Al Sharpton is the voice of the liberal Democrat Party and that is why none of the dem candidates will condemn his antics or distance themselves from his bigotry. Hell they condone it, as his words are theirs. Sharpton is the dem kingmaker and if the fact that our next President may be beholden to the likes of him doesn't scare you then you are a no good god damn traitor to basic human decency.
ps do dems every apologize for anything?

Turn And Face The Strain
"It was not until the rise of the environmental movement in the 1980s that everything suddenly changed. From then on it was almost a foregone conclusion that global warming could only be perceived as a disaster for the earth's climate. Environmentalists, adopting a strategy typical of the Catholic Church, have been warning us about the horrors of greenhouse gas hell ever since -- painting it as a punishment for the sin of meddling with creation. What was conveniently ignored, however, is that humanity has been reshaping the planet for a very long time, first by clearing forests and plowing fields, and later by building roads, cities and factories.
In the age of climate change, it has become a popular social pastime to scour the weather forecast for omens of doom. Has it ever been as hot in April as it is this year? Is this lack of rain normal? Could all this mean that the end is nigh?"

Quotes
From Thomas Sowell:
"Too many people in positions of responsibility act as if these are just positions of opportunity -- for themselves. The ones who simply steal money probably do less harm than teachers who propagandize their students, media who slant the news or politicians who sell out their country's interests in order to get re-elected. "
"When I see the worsening degeneracy in our politicians, our media, our educators, and our intelligentsia, I can't help wondering if the day may yet come when the only thing that can save this country is a military coup."
"Global warming" seems to be joining "diversity," "gun control," "open space" and a growing list of other subjects where rational discussion has become impossible -- and where you are considered a bad person even for wanting to discuss it rationally.
I am so old that I can remember a Democrat, at his inauguration as President, say of our enemies: "We dare not tempt them with weakness."

Which One Are You?
Conservatives and liberals approach almost every issue with completely different philosophies, underlying assumptions, and methods. That's why it's so hard to find genuine compromise between conservatism and liberalism -- because not only are liberals almost always wrong, their solutions almost always make things worse.
With that in mind, let me take a few moments to explain some of the key differences between liberals and conservative to you. Continued

Big Brother?
Though by all indications their protests were conducted peaceably, and with proper restraint, these men and women were forcibly detained, unceremoniously dragged down to the police station, and eventually charged with a total of three separate felonies and five misdemeanors
What, exactly, was the nature of their crimes? Well, according to the police, their charges included "possession of instruments of crime" (a bullhorn), "ethnic" intimidation (reciting a Biblical passage), and "inciting a riot" (again, reading verses from the Bible). All told, the protesters faced more than $90,000 in fines and court costs, and the very real prospect of facing as many as 47 years in prison. Continued

Quote
"This letter will, to you, be as one from the dead. The writer will be in the grave before you can weigh its counsels. Your affectionate and excellent father has requested that I would address to you something which might possibly have a favorable influence on the course of life you have to run; and I too, as a namesake, feel an interest in that course. Few words will be necessary, with good dispositions on your part. Adore God.Reverence and cherish your parents. Love your neighbor as yourself, and your country more than yourself. Be just. Be true. Murmur not at the ways of Providence. So shall the life into which you have entered be the portal to one of eternal and ineffable bliss. And if to the dead it is permitted to care for the things of this world, every action of your life will be under my regard. Farewell."
