Indulge Me
I wish I had thought of this, and perhaps if I had have accepted that scholarship (I was close) to the The Society of Saint Pius X Seminary I would have, but admittedly my knowledge of Catholicism's more arcane history has lapsed in my years since of unrepentant sinning. Then again maybe its just the whiskey.
I was watching Fred Smith of the Competitive Enterprise Institute on Tucker last night and he made the sagacious comparison between today's wealthy liberal elite and their practice of buying global warming moral authority through the use of carbon offsets and the Catholic Churchs practice of trafficking in indulgences to sinners during the Middle Ages.
In essence the extra good works of the Church and its clergy would be traded to those whose life on earth were not as, lets say... exemplary for monetary compensation -- mind you that this was long before bingo was invented.
Obviously this was a recipe for corruption; financially yes, but more importantly it was morally corrupt and was an integral reason for the Reformation Movement of Luther (fill in 2 Live Crew lyric here). Morality should not be commoditized.
In other words the wealthy that could pay received extra special forgiveness for their sins and a fast track to heaven while the poor were left to rot in hell.
Yeah thats fair.
I can think we can all agree that aint right and that it sounds vaguely familiar to the current charade that the liberal elites are trying to pull today.
This is not a condemnation of anyone's lifestyle. By all means if you want to sin and it doesn't hurt anyone else then rock out. If you want to fly around on private jets and drive a SUV then by all means do. I highly recommend it, it is so choice.
But to say that it's disingenuous to lecture others about adopting a behavior that you are neither willing or able to adhere to yourself would be a gross understatement as well as being morally bankrupt lacking all credibility. To impose said policy is downright criminal and unethical.
In the case of Al Gore, well it's simple...he's a shill. Hes been crying wolf about global warming for ages and yet he still leaves sasquatchian sized carbon footprints on the earth against his own best advice and the unimpeachable scientific consensus, and yet is only now as we speak making the politically correct changes. He's a fraud.
How hard would it have been to throw a windmill or a water wheel up on his property in the last decade? Not very... that is if he really believed what he's preaching which he doesn't. Hypocrite heal thyself. Its a political money grab plain and simple and that's that.
I was so impressed with Mr Smith that I linked his org the CEI, check them out... and I will leave you with a few quotes of his as well on this subject.
"Rich people will tell poor people to stay energy poor and as a result the world will be fine. The rich people can feel morally sound and the poor people will starve in the dark"
"Its essentially a plot by which rich guilty people allow poor people to stay poor is what it will amount to, and we will have green foreign aid and the rich in the poor countries will do well by taxing the poor in the rich countries"
Well said Fred, now go cash that check from Exxon.

On a related note The Aurora is pleased to announce that we will be doing our part to solve this crisis. Considering that on this very very very important issue of "the end of the world" we are significantly more informed than most, therefore we will be selling our extra knowledge logic reasoning and original thinking to those not as fortunate. We's got plenty to spare. So just pay the Roddy Piper and feel free to continue living like sheepish chicken littles. The Aurora has got ya covered.
Payments made in the form of booze will gladly be accepted at McSorleys Old Ale House tonight as pretty much the whole gang will be attending the Gingrich / Cuomo debate at The Cooper Union around the corner.

There Are Givers And There Are Takers And Then There Are The Clintons
I recently called Hillary a socialist for the following quote about Exxon's record profits......
"I want to take those profits, and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund" 1
Well I'm not entirely sure I was right. It seems shes just a greedy pig.
Its been revealed that she omitted the Clinton family charity on her Senatorial financial disclosure forms. It was an oversight her aides say, isn't it always. But you know what... Ill give her the benefit of the doubt on this one as those forms are kind of tricky just as it's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time...it's tricky.
Hell between you me and the lamppost I leave a lot of shit off my financial disclosure forms -- to our first time readers at the IRS I should inform you that this blog is satirical in nature and all characters -- animal or otherwise are fictional and not based on real life people... now beat it ya pencil pushing taxman.... um I mean Mr Nice Pencil Pushing Tax Man.
But now that this has been revealed what I find most troubling is that the Clintons were able to....
"write off more than $5 million from their taxable income since 2001, while dispensing $1.25 million in charitable contributions over that period, the newspaper reported." 2
Math was never my strong point but Ive got to believe that getting back quadruple what you gave out doesn't exactly seem fair now does is it?
Actually now that I think about it I had it right on both counts... shes a greedy socialist pig.
Since it was her sloppiness that brought this to the public's attention what I would like to know is... what kind of admin costs are involved, who is on the charity's payroll, any family members on paid staff, what is their salary, who are the recipients of their largess etc etcetera.
Then again what should I expect from the same fine folks that stole the White House furniture when they left office (not to mention the W's on all comp keyboards -- which actually was pretty frickin' hilarious)
EE-Aw!!!
GAMING UPDATE:
...speaking of pigs. A while back I put up a link (filed under: Pigs) to an online version of the classic parlour game "Pass The Pigs" As some of you might surmise -- I very rarely leave home without dice... I'm a frickin' shooter what can I say.
Well as the Fly can attest to, back in the day it was The Pigs. They were always a hit and like any dice based game -- great for spontaneous gambling. Well I'm happy to announce that I recently picked up a replacement set and although I'm not too happy with the new carrying case (they fuck up the line on my Double B suit) the Pigs are making a comeback and I'm bringing the double leaning jowlers with me.
Do yourself a favor and pick up a set, they cost around 10 bucks. Tell 'em Donkey sent ya -- that should confuse the hell out of the sales clerk.

"Nowhere in the traditionally refereed scientific literature do we find any support for Gore’s hypothesis. Instead, there’s an unrefereed editorial by NASA climate firebrand James E. Hansen, in the journal Climate Change — edited by Steven Schneider, of Stanford University, who said in 1989 that scientists had to choose “the right balance between being effective and honest” about global warming — and a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that was only reviewed by one person, chosen by the author, again Dr. Hansen."

Talk Is Cheap But Al Gore's Electric Bill Isnt
Breaking story on Drudge reveals that...
Can't say this comes as a surprise considering all the stock he received for negotiating with the commies to get Google into China and of course the royalties from his best selling albeit altruistic public service announcement and complimentary DVD/book set now selling for $21.95+ at your local propagandamonger -- Id imagine he has a rather large mansion and a yacht... but one would think that the "global warming" messiah would be slightly more energy efficient at home. Let me guess, hes going to purchase carbon offsets to clear his conscience while preaching that we should all ride bicycles to work and read by candlelight.
As Tucker Carlson said tonight... when these limo libs "start arriving at the academy awards or Davos by bus is when I'll start to take them seriously condemning my SUV"
Frickin jackasses!

Intro plagiarized and paraphrased from The Sports Guy -- donk.
I recently got into a brief discussion -- until I became bored by the sheer stupidity of the participants -- at a liberal blog regarding Iran. The topic was essentially that Bush is lying about Iran's nuclear ambition and that even if hes not, well then its his fault anyways. I tried to rationally point out that if you were to take President George W Bush out of the equation and just look at the words and actions of Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad there can be no question that Iran is seeking nukes, have been for decades, and odds are that their intentions are not peaceful.
Figuring that any reasonable person could see this and the fact that the world consensus (global warming consensus good, Iran nuke consensus bad?...silly liberals) is in agreement that Iran is for a fact in violation of the unanimously passed UN Resolution 1737. I was absolutely flabbergasted by the response.
I wasn't as offended being called a "brainless blogger Nietzsche loving German speaking Jackass and ignorant inflammatory troll" as I was to hear an actual if questionable American citizen take it upon themselves to be defenders of Iran.
You know, the same Iran that has kidnapped and killed Americans and that helped create and now openly supports Hezbollah. You know, the same Hezbollah that has killed thousands of Americans and our allies. Real good guys.
Like I said, flabbergasted how an American could come to such a treacherous position....then I got to remembering an old Charlie Rose interview where his guest had the following to say.
“Iran is the only country in the world that has now had six elections since the first election of President Khatami (in 1997). (It is) the only one with elections, including the United States, including Israel, including you name it, where the liberals, or the progressives, have won two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote in six elections: Two for president; two for the Parliament, the Majlis; two for the mayoralties. In every single election, the guys I identify with got two-thirds to 70 percent of the vote. There is no other country in the world I can say that about, certainly not my own.” -- Bill Clinton
...but there's more. Clinton then went on to admit that he performed a Monica on Iran;
“I formally apologized on behalf of the United States for American crimes against Iran.” -- Bill Clinton
Unbelievable. Some balls this frickin' guy has.... "American crimes against Iran"? Maybe he was busy backpacking around Moscow when they were parading our people blindfolded tortured and humiliated through the streets of Tehran.
Then I got to remembering some more about a little known covert op known as Operation Merlin in which Clinton jackassininely authorized the CIA to give Iran advanced nuclear schematics but with technical errors to fool them. Only problem was that the Russian scientist/agent the Company used to pass on the secrets corrected them. Oops!
So by my scorecard under Clinton we funded North Korea's nuclear program, backed Islamofascists in Bosnia, modernized China's military, and gave nuke blueprints to the Islamic Republic of Iran henceforth to be known as the Clinton summer home.
So you can make the argument that Bush is making mistakes in the War on Terror, but at least he isnt handing the enemy a barstool to crack us over the head with.
However, this isn't about bashing Clinton as every President before him going back fifty years has blood on the Persian rugs in their office, but Ill leave the Iran-Contra posts to the libs.
This is about understanding that we are at war with Islamic extremists, they started it -- whether they be Arab Persian or Asian, Sunni or Shia (they may hate each other, but they all hate us) -- and that the rules of war have changed as we know for certain that they sure the hell aint following the Geneva Convention.
Yes Iran were one-time allies, as was Iraq. Whats the point? Lets not forget that we fought two wars against England one against Japan and they are now two of our closest allies, and we reserve the right to fuck the Brits up again if they step out of line. That's how the world works. As noted limey Henry Temple once stated...
"We have no eternal allies and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are perpetual and eternal and those interests it is our duty to follow"
Well Id have to say that our interests at this point are pretty frickin' vested in not being attacked by terrorists and especially not allowing them access to nuclear weaponry -- and if that means catching a ride with a devil of yesterday to dance with the devil today, then so be it. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I don't like it, but that's the way it is. If I had my druthers India would border Iraq Iran and Afghanistan and ugly women in this country would wear burqas.
That being said I do not support a pre-emptive strike against Iran at this time. Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, signatory Iran has the right to seek a peaceful nuclear energy source if they adhere to strict International Atomic Energy Agency inspections, which to date they have not, and they must be held accountable on that....Hold on. Allow me to go off on a quick rant.
...Why the hell are liberals so adamant about the need for an oil rich Iran to use nuclear energy yet they picket with placards against its use in their very own country all the while crying foul for the need for alt fuels. Makes no sense to me, and in my opinion typifies the hypocritical "not in my backyard" limousine liberalism that discredits most Hallmark ideologues on the left.
As I was saying... I feel an attack on Iran at this juncture would be unwise, not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent -- but that's not to say I don't fear that it will become necessary to lay rubble to the whole god forsaken region down the road if need be to protect American interests.
My reasons are numerous but I have no intention to discuss them at this time, as I have already rambled on far too long and they are too intricately articulate and well thought out to fall into the hands of any lurking liberals that may come across my blog. But I'm not really worried as they wouldn't fit onto a poster board anyways, but better to be safe than sorry.
Better to be safe than sorry? Hmmm. That sounds like a pretty good albeit over-simplifed argument for attacking Iran -- maybe I will reevaluate my position.

Dont Start Nothin' Wont Be Nothin'
Ive never been to Costa Rica, but I know that when I told Rhino I was thinking about flying down for a few days, he suggested Belize as a safer alternative as he was never more frightened for his life then when approached by a group of local ruffians on a recent trip. Which to be honest sort of surprised me as he's in pretty good shape (I'll leave the man-gym comments to the Fly) and fancies himself to be some sort of longisland tough. Thank the lord baby jesus that those bingo playing hellians in the AARP rolled into town and restored America's pride and honor.Without pansy assed politicos and media types getting in the way -- America can still kick some ass when need be -- despite what the defeatists would lead you to believe. Give those guys and gals a medal and a lifetime supply of Ensure already.
Let me get a Ric Flair!

I Need A Little Help
My friend posed this question to me and I am stumped...help me?
In one inning of baseball, can a team get two triples, two doubles, two singles without scoring a run?
The answer is "Yes" and I have a feeling this must have been the 1962 Mets but I cannot find a scenario that doesn't end up with a run scoring.

Who's The Man With The Master Plan?
As Dr. Dre would say (on the clean version), "An n-word with a mutha-farkin gun."
The message above was approved by the committee to re-elect Jonny Dangerously.
Thanks to Donkey & Rhino for bringing back the only Auroran to be against police brutality yet for racist cops. They know a good thing when they see it...besides the fact that my baseballnyc blog imploded and became a "gay Rusty Staub" porn link site.
Just an aside but I have seen an awful lot of that happening since Google took over Blogger. Seriously, the site was deleted for like ten minutes before some perv purveyor grabbed it.
Now back on point and I'll try be brief...I have seen a whole lot of comparisons on here and in the news of our current War on Terror and Vietnam hence the reference to a master plan. It seems our enemies have a master plan and yet we still don't really have one. Therein lies the main similarity between the wars.
I don't think we lost Viet Nam. We killed more of them and they killed less of our soldiers (another similarity to the current war). Communism has never gained the foot hold that democracy has and can anyone really argue that they would rather live in a modern communist society rather than a free America? But we did lose it in the court of public opinion and it appears to be headed in that direction once again.
But the times have changed...the wars are completely different in three very important areas.
1.) Women aren't burning their bras and having promiscuous sex with me.
2.) No ones turning off and tuning out...What happened to a little casual LSD usage? Kids today are huffing detergent and taking their mom's prescription Valiums. They are more interested in euphoria than getting all f'd up...I say, get some balls kiddies. Buy a lava lamp, take some illegal narcotics and listen to Bad Company if you really want to be anti social.
3.) Iran. Simple as that, the biggest difference between Viet Nam and the War on Terror is that we have an enemy in Iran who is already strategically planning to react if we ever attack them. Palestinian sources say they have been told by Iran to attack Israel if either Israel or the United States even hints at strikes against them. Iran has told Syria to attack Israel and U.S. targets if an attack happens against their military and nuclear facilities. They have Hezbollah, Hamas, and all the other non groovy terrorist organizations ready to attack Israel and the United States if there ever is even a whiff of an attack against them. How do they know that these radicals will do their bidding? Easy, they have been supplying them with weapons. Rocket launchers, missiles, guns and all the things you need to start WWIII. We have sent more aircraft carriers recently to the region. Is this enough to set off Iran and have them give directives to other nations & the terror organizations who sheepishly & secretly obey these nations? I don't know but in our war with Viet Nam we didn't have to worry about them calling in multiple nations to attack us. They are preparing for war and I am pretty sure that they will get sick of waiting for us to attack. So what do we do? Do you think it is inevitable?
I was listening to the Savage Nation last night and he made what I thought was a good point. If you think that someone is going to plant a car bomb in your mother's car, do you wait for them to do it before you try to stop them? I think the answer to that is pretty obvious. Do you?
I may not be the man with the master plan but I certainly don't think we can let Iran use fear to dictate how we exist in the world. They are already dictating it to too may countries already.

Pretty Fly For A White Guy
Stay tuned tomorrow for a new feature.... Flyday Fridays and the return of original Auroran -- Mookie McFly.
Be sure to swing by and check out what our newest slightly left leaning poetic waxing mandress wearing jesuitian joisey born-n-bred box rocking peacock pirate has to say when you still have the chance -- for if his last stint is any indication theres a good chance I may have to boot him again for being a tree hugging pinko commie.
Welcome back bro.

Have You No Shame John Murtha?
Apparently not, and you're not alone. In fact, as bad as you are i would say you're "discressions" are dwarfed by those of Teddy "the murderer" Kennedy, Robert "KKK" Byrd, and of course William Jefferson "BJ" Clinton and his famous whitewater wife, but i figure it's fun to point out what a scumbag you really are, so here we go.
On tape, Murtha told the undercover FBI agent: "When I make a f***in' deal I want to make sure that I know exactly what I'm doing and ... what I'm sayin' is, a few investments in my district ..." It is a profound and shocking fact that Murtha even showed up at this meeting, knowing he was going to be negotiating bribe money with Arabs.

Today's Merle Moment In History
The Fightin' Side Of Me
I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:

I PITTANCE the Fool...
(Title Provided by the donkey)
"The earth is warming. Temperatures at the Earth's surface increased by an estimated 1.4°F (0.8°C) between 1900 and 2005. The past decade was the hottest of the past 150 years and perhaps the past millennium. The hottest 22 years on record have occurred since 1980, and 2005 was the hottest on record." (Pew Research Center)
"The claim that the 1990s were the hottest decade on record specifically targets the intellectually lazy and easily frightened, ignoring numerous obvious factors. “On record” obviously means a very short period, typically the past 100+ years, or since the end of the Little Ice Age. The National Academies of Science debunked this claim in 2006. Previously rural measuring stations register warmer temps after decades of “sprawl” (growth), cement being warmer than a pasture." ( Christopher Horner, author of "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism" )
Now that i have your attention........ I keep mentioning scientists who argue that man made global warming is mostly just bullshit, and the "intellectually lazy and easily frightened" among our readers respond NOT with science, but with ad hominem attacks on the scientists claiming that they're all paid by the big bad Exxon corporation and even though they're professors of climatology at Harvard and other prestigious universities, they're selling their souls for some green backs. Now normally i'm no defender of college professors who i think tend to be ultra left wing politically correct flunkies, however who the hell else are you going to turn to for this kind of information? Really, besides bureaucrats and college profs who the hell has the time to study these things? The rest of us have to work for a living...... But i digress (always wanted to write that)
Here's the thing, If you're going to attack the scientists on the Exxon payroll, you have to attack EVERYONE who is getting paid by ANY group with an agenda one way or the other. But you say there's more scientists on one side of the issue than the other? Well maybe that's because there's more MONEY on one side than the other.
"In accusing ExxonMobil of giving "more than $19 million since the late 1990s" to public policy institutes that promote climate holocaust "denial," Senate Inquisitors Olympia Snowe and Jay Rockefeller slandered both the donor and recipients. Moreover, this is less than half of what Pew Charitable Trusts and allied foundations contributed to the Pew Center on Climate Change alone over the same period. It's a pittance compared to what U.S. environmental groups spent propagating climate chaos scares. It amounts to 30 cents for every $1,000 the United States, European Union and United Nations spent since 1993 (some $80 billion in all) on global warming catastrophe research. And it ignores the fact Exxon's grants also supported malaria control, Third World economic development and other efforts."

Yeah That's The Ticket
Although I can say with ninety percent certainty that I am not the father of Anna Nicole's daughter I am not prepared at this time to deny rumors that if named as Speaker Gingrich's running mate that I would accept such an honor, although let it be known that Donkey plays second fiddle to no man, well that is unless of course its during a seisun at Jack Dempseys and the group is playing anything besides the four songs I know.
I recently had the opportunity to see Newt give a speech at the Women's Republican Club of New York City. Its the first time Ive ever attended a function there as -- number one I am not a woman and therefore not a member, secondly despite the grays I am not quite ready to play in the senior circuit just yet but most importantly they have a tendency to not offer open bar at their events.
That being said I made an exception this past Thursday as I am a big fan of Speaker Gingrich and as can probably be surmised from my glassy goggles, had about a half dozen lagers down the gullet already courtesy of The Galway Hooker. Of course that didn't stop me from further imbibing and it was a privilege to offer Newt a drink compliments of The Aurora (turns out he is in fact a reader). There are only a handful of exceptions allowing a man to buy another man a drink -- being the architect of the Contract With America is one of them.
As Newt explained when asked if he was running, his opinion is that all this presidential election jibber jabber so far out is counter productive as the only talk occurring is of candidacies and not solutions or ideas, and I tend to agree. None of the main candidates are really discussing what they'll do or why they are most qualified but seems to me busy running away from who they are and what they've done in the past to redefine themselves accordingly to current polling data.
Ok let me get this straight...Hillary is now against the war, Obama isn't a crackhead, Rudy isn't a fag hag and McCain is a conservative again. Can we get to the issues now...
Newt is still Newt and the only one putting forth any real plans for our country's future (I highly recommend subscribing to his newsletter, which can be done by clicking on either of our giant irish noggins in the above picture), and if being articulate is a pre-requisite...then my man Newt has got it covered as he gives one hell of a speech.
I understand that The Aurora is currently endorsing Rep Duncan Hunter and without question he is the best man for the job currently in the race, but if and when Speaker Gingrich enters the race ....we may have to re-evaluate our endorsement, but Id have no problem with a Gingrich / Hunter ticket and would graciously step aside to accommodate it...just so long as that offer of the Ambassadorship to Brazil is still on the table -- I'm gonna hold you to it Mr Speaker.

The end is nigh as a result of human over-consumption -- so lets throw a party, or in this case fly dozens of rock stars and their entourage across the globe in private jets to save the planet by singing kumbaya at the LiveEarth concert series.
I actually have no further comment as the hypocrisy speaks for itself. I would just like to know where do I signup for the free tickets....

Craic Science
As promised I will no longer be making any official Aurora statements regarding the global warming fear mongering ruse, however I am reprinting the following comment that was in response to accusations of skepticism, denial and moronic delusions during a mass email debate.
Apparently the accuser is working with Algore on his new book so therefore she self-righteously feels that she has the moral authority as well as the infallible scientific community's consensus on her side and the only argument to be made was calling everyone an idiot and name dropping Algore repeatedly.
Not good enough sugar tits.
It should be noted that by no means would I consider the author of the following comment a modern day Woodstock reliving hippie liberal but there also can be no doubt that he does reside on the left side of the aisle and as much as he will deny it to this day he was -- perhaps during a momentary lapse of reason -- a one-time (current?) Hillary booster.
Of more significance he has the honor of being one of the very few democrats that I know whose opinion I respect although he does in fact have his head stuck up his ass on most issues.....
This is not one of them.
Esteemed readers of the Aurora, I present to you Craic-Head.....
"if you must know, i don't think global warming is nonsense. i think that self absorbed politicians that manipulate statistics and apply half-baked pseudo-scientific theories in order to further their own careers are promoting nonsense. the global warming geological trend the planet has been experiencing for 15,000 years may be exacerbated to a point of irreparable harm by CO2 emissions, other greenhouse gases, and even just basic human existence (somewhere in the middle of the next century, according to some). or maybe not. This general trend can only be measured in tens of thousands of years, and is far more complex than the phony environmentalism of the gores of the world would have you believe. year to year or even century to century changes are far too randomized to serve as a useful sample from which to draw meaningful conclusions, and regularly occurring, although rare, phenomena (massive extraterrestrial impact, super volcanic eruptions) are major wildcards in the overall analysis. the problem of course, is that if the "global warming" of al gore and the liberal mind meld is even remotely accurate, by the time that can be conclusively established it will be too late and most of the world's population will be dead. nevertheless, i refuse to let these intellectual totalitarians lecture me with their pseudo-science and i will not accept their paternalistic assumptions that i'm not smart enough to understand the truth, or allow them to dismiss me as stupid because i refuse to blindly accept their self serving agenda as undisputed fact. f them and the suv they rode in on, because you know their superiority allows them to be exempt from their own plans to curtail the freedom of the ignorant masses. assholes.
damn, i didn't even start drinking yet.
p.s. and didn't al gore invent the environment? so this is all his fault anyway! (okay, obviously i have started drinking now!)"
Well said! I couldnt have said it better myself, well yeah I could...but I didnt.
......and I dont think that Algore actually invented the enviroment, he just takes credit for being part of the think tank that enabled the enviroment to exist.

Duncan Hunter
A true conservative.
"For some candidates," Hunter says, "the conservative constituency is an inconvenience. For me, it is my hope." He hopes to be seen as the most conservative Republican candidate, as he understands conservatism. He is pro-life, an expert on defense issues, a hawk on border security (he authored the legislation that mandates 854 miles of fences across the major southern border routes used by smugglers of narcotics and people) and a skeptic about free trade.

Donkey No Understand*
Ok let me get this straight.
Lets assume that Iraq is indeed the single most important issue facing our country today.
1. Hillary is the only "pro-war" candidate for the Dem nom
2. The Democrat Party bills itself as the "anti-war" party
3. Hillary is leading by wide margins in ALL polls
HUH?

Look like we've got ourselves a bit of an enigmatic scenario on our hands. If one is true then mustn't the other two be false?
Ive got my own theories, but I figured that since this place is infested with Phil Mickelsons Id open up the floor to my loyal libs and others to hear what they have to say about this seemingly contradictory to dem dogma situation.
* a no prize goes to the correct answer for the inspiration of this title

The next frickin person that I dont know, strike that...the next person no matter who they are that tells me how shitty it is outside, while Im outside -- is getting a punch straight shot to the ovaries.
Donk Rule #4: Men dont comment on another mans clothing
Same goes for the jackasses that ask me "yo dude, wheres your coat?" while Im outside having a smoke -- receives an open hand bitch slap to the mouth.

Dont Let The Sun Warm Up On Me
The following statements will be my last (update: ok maybe not -- donk.) on the global warming discussion. The argument has become for the lack of a better word -- silly, and as is their mo...the left have changed the argument into something that it is not.
No reasonable person denies that the earth at this time is warming. No intelligent person denies that man has an impact on his surroundings aka "the environment". But that's not what we are currently debating. If you do not toe the leftist green line that man alone is destroying the earth and that the end is nigh...then you are a holocaust denier.
Where the f did that come from?
The left just love them that nazi pillow talk.
Its amazingly ignorant to me that the same people that cite the infallibility of the scientific community consensus resort to defining those that disagree with them as skeptics and big oil lackeys or just plain ol' idiots while at the same time denying overwhelming scientific evidence contradictory to their position.
While we're here -- let's address the scientific community. Let me show my cards for a moment. I have intimate knowledge of the scientific community, but even if I didn't -- I know scientists, and I mean that in the most common sensical of terms. I know the type -- I get their deal.
As I recall there was recent consensus amongst them that we'd all be dead or diseased by now at the hands of either a) nuclear reactor meltdowns or b) AIDS....two pet projects of the left in the past two decades. Well last time I checked I still only have ten fingers (ok smartass... eight fingers and two thumbs) and as many women as Ive slept with hatless in a drunken, reckless, and irresponsible manner.... I'm still strong like bull, or donkey if you will.
Scientists can be wrong. Remember the great aerosol scare of 1985? Yet Turbo and Ozone live on. Scientists do have an agenda (even the ones not being paid by Exxon). They want a professional purpose, they want to fit in, they want to be loved. Scientific consensuses can be incorrect and as much times as not they usually are. You see, scientists by definition are not original thinkers. They go with the grain or they lose funding and become ostracized by their peers -- its that simple. None of them want to be wrong, so they follow the herd.
Well at least the weak ones do, and the vast majority or consensus (if you will) are just that.... weak.
So it is the brave skeptic all alone that risks ridicule in the pursuit of science that we should give our admiration and not our scorn.
To do otherwise is to render scientific pursuit irrelevant and no more significant than a high school popularity contest.
There's a reason we celebrate the great scientific minds of history -- it's because they are so very rare. Few great scientific achievements were discovered by committee. Yet that's all we hear from the eco-greenies.... they claim the moral high ground by default as a result of consensus. They haven't the foggiest fuckin' ideal (platonically speaking) what the hell they are talking about nor do they have a clue how true and pure scientific discovery works (clue: its not in a frickin' Al Gore movie)
But here we are and now "scientists" have become the new Gold Star Mom... Cindy Sheehan is so last year.
Here's the long and short of it. The Warming Alarmists are full of shit!
They deny the very science that they cling to so blindly. The fact is that the earth has always warmed and it has always cooled at various times during its existence. Its what it does. Its called the at-mos-phere. Rather simple really. As my colleague has pointed out ad nauseum the same doom and gloomers today were preparing us for another Ice Age in the 70's. He was right, but that's only the most recent example. The same chicken little types of a different century were predicting Armageddon by a different maker during the "Little Ice Age" in the seventeen hundos.
I'm not here to give an astronomy lesson, but there has been one constant in all of god's green earth's climatic cycles and that is the sun. The sun is sometimes hot, sometimes its very hot, and sometimes hotter still... considering that roughly 100% (is that a consensus?) of the earth's positive temperature is directly derived from our big yellow friend in the sky (kind of like a celestial Big Bird), it just makes sense to me to perhaps just maybe look in that direction (but not directly, or you'll shoot your eye out kid) for the cause of the current warming cycle as opposed to dumping on ourselves about something that, where in the grand scheme of things, we are (even the really really big SUV's) after all, rather insignificant.
"Sadly, sadly, the sun rose; it rose upon no sadder sight than the man of good abilities and good emotions, incapable of their directed exercise, incapable of his own help and his own happiness, sensible of the blight on him, and resigning himself to let it eat him away." -- Charles Dickens
...or maybe it is just livestockian flatulence.
Once again I will concur that the earth is currently in the midst of a warming period. I will also agree that man does indeed have an effect on his surroundings and that we should be responsible and dutiful inhabitants of our home and take care of it to the best of our abilities.
No argument here.
But we should not bite off our industry to spite the stranded polar bear (they can swim ya know that right?) for a man made created paranoia at the detriment of human advancement.
The numbers just don't add up, but even if all the numbers the greens say are accurate (they're not) -- then by my calculations between normal solar patterns, regular atmospheric cycles, smelly cow farts, and over-abundant escaladian sapien endeavors we are only minimally to blame (if at all) and since I don't see the ecovangelists proposing to install a thermostat on the sun, taxing weather patterns or corking a cows cornholio....I'm gonna give mankind a pass as well.
We've done real good and I'm proud of us humans (well most of us).... so stop hating your species you goddamn hippies.
EE-Aw!!!
And now to paraphrase George Burns...
Say Baa, Sheep...
Baa Sheep!

Padi's Day In February
Well its official, I am now finally officially official. After years of illegally diving the coasts of third world countries such as Cuba, Jamaica, and New Jersey... I finally got my PADI certification. I have always been able to finagle my way onto dives with some good ol fashioned blarney (and an extra fin or two) bout how I forgot my card... but not this time.
The dive shop was run by krauts and they weren't having any of it, mostly because they didn't understand every other word I was saying so therefore my roguish charm was lost on them. I tried to explain to them that whats the worst that could happen... that my lungs would burst on ascent to which they replied....
JA JA JER LUNGENS VILL EXPLODIEREN
The good news is that I didn't have to take any classes, just ace a written test (which they kindly allowed me to take at the bar), then perform a dog and pony show for them at thirteen meters -- but most importantly handing over more money than they deserved for the privilege of allowing them the honor of handing me a laminated piece of plastic. Whoopty frickin do. Did Jacques Cousteau care about getting his divers license? Whats that? He did... Ok never mind. Fuck the french -- I always associated with Verne's Captain Nemo anyways, who sure as hell didn't care about any Surface World certifications or bureaucracies.
Speaking of reefs, The one thing that I noticed on my trip was the great language barrier (see: aforementioned krauts -- fuck the germans) Granted I was in another country and a spanish speaking one at that, but it surprised me that in a touristy area more of the help didn't habla any inlges. No problem, I'm in their country Ill play by their rules adopt to their customs to the best of my abilities and I always learn enough of a language to get by when I travel.
Donde las chicas, más cervezas, and aspÃrelo por favor seemed to do the trick for this trip.
Which brings me to, in a roundabout convoluted kind of way to my point -- English is the national language of The United States Of America. Period. It was never "official" because it didn't have to be... well times have indeed changed Senor Zimmerman. The illegal immigration problem is nearing the point of no return and it sickens me that our elected officials are being such pussies about it. I blame Bush squarely for squandering a golden opportunity to address this issue when he had the chance, but it is now apparent that he never had any intention to do a damn thing about it in the first place.
But he is not alone, take the Nashville Mayor's recent cowardly veto for yet another example. The list goes on and on of betrayals such as these. Unfortunately men like Buchanan, Tancredo, and Hunter are the exception not the rule in Washington. Seems to me everybody is pretty darn happy with an open border albeit for different reasons (dem = votes & gop = cheap labor)
If we are to remain a nation of laws then there must be punishment for the criminals that break them, and right now there is no greater crime being continually committed in this country with zero repercussions for the wrong doer than illegal immigration. There is no deterrent -- you will be fed, housed, schooled and medically cared for -- all in your native tongue if you so choose (and they so choose) if you break the laws of our land and cross our borders illegally. This must end.
Now!
As long as we continue to provide a safe haven for criminals and provide no reason for legals to assimilate then this problem will continue and I fear will reach critical mass in our lifetime. So on that note I am endorsing Speaker Newt Gingrich's 3 Point plan to make English First again.
EE-Aw!!
Action Agenda to Promote the English Language
Newt Gingrich
What can we do to make English the language of government and civic discourse? Three action items top the list:
1. President Bush should end multilingualism in federal documents. The requirement that federal documents be printed in different languages was created by executive order. President Bush should repeal this executive order.
2. Make English the language of U.S. citizenship. Return to English language ballots, to a focus on English language literacy as a prerequisite of citizenship, and to an insistence that U.S. dual citizens vote only in the United States and give up voting in their birth nations. These were principles widely understood and accepted for most of American history, and they enabled us to absorb millions of immigrants and assimilate them and their children into an American civilization.
3. Replace bilingual education with intensive English instruction. We should have a National Program for Intensive English Instruction that would provide highly intensive English and U.S. history and civics training for new immigrants so that they can have the practical skills to become successful U.S. citizens.
It's the Right Thing to Do. -- Newt
And it's a start -- Donk.
"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Politics as Usual?
My thought is and has always been that Kyoto is nothing more than a socialist power/money grab. Here's someone who spent most of his life in a communist country who seems to think the same thing.
It's not my idea. Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. IPCC is not a scientific institution: it's a political body, a sort of non-government organization of green flavor. It's neither a forum of neutral scientists nor a balanced group of scientists. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment. Also, it's an undignified slapstick that people don't wait for the full report in May 2007 but instead respond, in such a serious way, to the summary for policymakers where all the "but's" are scratched, removed, and replaced by oversimplified theses.• This is clearly such an incredible failure of so many people, from journalists to politicians. If the European Commission is instantly going to buy such a trick, we have another very good reason to think that the countries themselves, not the Commission, should be deciding about similar issues.•

Disgusting.
What is the attitude on the left? What are they really thinking? I have been arguing for years that they despise the military and they only pretend to care because they know they can't get elected if they tell the truth. Well i think william arkin is representative of most on the left and he spells it out clearly right HERE.
Normally i would reprint some of the article for you to read as a teaser, but this time i'll reprint one of the many responses that he received instead.
Mr. Arkin,I read with, great surprise, your article on the troops speaking out. I thought of a rather long missive to post, but I think concise facts might be more appropriate.
• Prior to the 2000 election, the unwritten rule was that former Presidents would not speak out publicly about current foreign policy. The reason being that to do so might send mixed signals to other countries, and undermine our foreign policy.• In the 1970's, troops returning from Vietnam were spit on, called baby killers, labeled as murderers and rapists. Our Military was demoralized, underfunded and ill-trained.• In the 1980's, The Military was built up, morale was very high, and the Soviet Union collapsed without the nuclear holocost those on the left claimed was imminent.• General Giap, Commander of the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, was interviewed by a Newsweek reporter. He told the reporter that after TET (1968), the Viet Cong were no longer usable, and the North Vietnamese Army would take years to rebuild, and would not be able to mount another offensive. The TET offensive of 1968 was an absolute failure for the North. They lost over 70,000 soldiers and Viet Cong. He stated that it was the protests in the United States that gave him hope. He stated he didn't have to win, just hold on longer than the American people. The South Vietnamese Government collapsed after the United States Congress cut off all funding. The United States Military won every single battle, but the media and the politicians lost the war.• January 1995. Then President Clinton was moving to deploy United States Forces to the Balkins. The United Nations forces had failed to stop the ethnic cleansing there, and the world watched. Much was made of the Republican controlled Congress that was holding funding until the President explained why he was committing U.S. troops for reasons that departed from prior policy. They wanted to know the objectives and the exit strategy. President Clinton stated "They will be home by Christmas". That was 1995. I served in Bosnia in 2001 and 2002. The last large number of troops was pulled out last year. 11 Christmas' had passed, no media uproar, no headlines of quagmire.• The policy prior to 2000, as a result of what happened with Vietnam, was that we should strongly debate the use of force up until we have boots on the ground. Once soldiers were in harms way, all should unite and give one message "We support our troops efforts to succeed, and we will stand behind them.
In a nutshell, citizens, politicians and the media, who are actively pushing for a withdrawal in Iraq, are giving hope to our enemies. I have heard far more outrage from those on the left regarding naked prisoners standing in front of Female soldiers than I have heard about videotaped beheadings of Americans. If you think Abu Grahb was worse than Nicholas Berg, you are really in need of help.I have served for 20 years in uniform. I hold a B.A. and held a strong GPA. I have buried more friends over the years than I care to remember. Good men who's lives were much more valuable than some of those whom they died protecting. The arrogance that people like yourself display is amazing. Sit behind your desk, write your columns. Thank God the people who risk thereTheir lives for the idea and freedoms that are our Nation, are not willing to risk our future. You are lucky you don't have to deal with what would be the results of your policy preferences. You can sit and type and there is always going to be someone who will stand up to defend you, maybe. You sir, are a coward and a disgrace.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends
I know we just did gobal warming, but this guy just puts it into perspective better than anyone else i've read. So i'm ready to do battle again if anyone's still interested.
Earth got about 0.7 degrees Celsius warmer in the 20th century while it increased its GDP by 1,800 percent, by one estimate.

It Pains Me To Do It.....
But i have to defend John Edwards because this is ridiculous. Yes i understand the argument that he's the one who had the "two America's" statement, but that doesn't make him a hypocrite. Lets not attack people for being successful.
Sitting on 102 secluded acres — surrounded by trees and defended by no-trespassing signs — the 28,000-square-foot estate that Edwards and his family call home has presidential privacy.

Now if you want to attack him for THIS I'm with you.

If youre reading this you are more than likely somewhere freezing. I however will be on the beach with a cold El Presidente (the Dominican Busch beer) in hand.

Pay no attention to any Loch Ness sightings in the Caribbean.

Hardball?
You wouldn't know it from listening to the leftist media, but......
Nearly three years ago, a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee concluded that this was not merely untrue, it was the opposite of the truth: Wilson's report actually bolstered the belief that Saddam was seeking uranium from Niger.

Baby Its Cold Season
Allow me this opportunity to provide a Public Service Aurorament.....
If you are sick --- Dont touch me. Period. I dont care if you just bagged Angelina or the Mets traded for Dontrelle --- dont touch me, or I will institute the new Super Bowl endorsed fist pound and smack you in the mouth.
If you are sick dont touch anything I might touch, and by anything I mean everything. Doors can be opened with your elbow, whiskey can be drank with a straw ( I will mock you, but it can be done) and strippers, well actually just stay away from them for now --- we dont need your germs mucking up a perfectly sanitary Gentleman's Club.
If you have children the preferred handling method is to shrink wrap them and place them in a hyberbaric bubble chamber until spring. If this is an inconvienance --- see above rules as well as taking the further precautions of showering in Purell and sand blasting your hands.
If you are in an elevator -- Dont cough (and while Im at it -- no small talk and eyes forward jackass)
If youre sick I dont want to hear about it. Keep your "Dude I puked up the Olsen twins last night" stories to yourself and I dont care what medication youre own. I can assure you my drugs are better than yours so zip it flunky.
And as a general rule of thumb keep a fifteen foot radius buffer zone between you and me.
In other words if you are sick.... get the fuck outta my way or better yet just stay home.

Does Consensus Equal Truth?
Obviously not.
No sensible person seeks conflict, especially with governments, but if we don't pursue the truth, we are lost as individuals and as a society. That is why I insist on saying that there is no evidence that we are, or could ever cause global climate change. And, recently, Yuri A. Izrael, Vice President of the United Nations sponsored Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) confirmed this statement. So how has the world come to believe that something is wrong?

This Day In Donkeyhue History
Jack Donkeyhue, Dublin born in 1804 and a staunch Irish Republican. After being charged with crimes against the crown he was shipped off to the land down under and sentenced to be a man at work.Working for the man didnt sit well with Jack so he took to participating in extra-curricular activities of the non legal variety and was sentenced to death for his transgressions.
Heres where the legend of The Bold Jack Donkeyhue begins. Jack escaped and took to the bush where he formed along with his fellow bushrangers the notorious gang "The Strippers" (its in the blood -- we dig strippers) He robbed from the rich and gave to himself and became a folk hero in the process. Angering the authorities to no end, the then obscene amount of a $200 bounty was placed on his head and all official police business was put on hold until the capture of The Bold Jack.
Jack was good, maybe even one of the best but was no match for twenty men (sixteen seventeen and he wouldve cleaned the floor wit em) and he was shot in head -- bang bang -- Bold Jack was dead (and Rocky collapsed in the corner)
As Ben said to Vader..."if you strike me down I will become more powerful then you can ever imagine."
Well that certainly was the case for The Bold Jack Donkeyhue who lives on to this day.
In the Australian Rugby Song...."The Bold Jack Donkeyhue"
"Oh Donkeyhue, Donkeyhue, throw down your carbine.
Or do you intend to fight us all and will you not resign?"
"Surrender to such cowardly dogs is a thing that I never would do,
For this day I'll fight with all my might", cried Bold Jack Donkeyhue"
As well as the classic Irish Rebel Song..."The Wild Colonial Boy"
"Surrender now, Jack Donkeyhue, you see there's three to one.
Surrender now, Jack Donkeyhue, you're a daring highwayman."
He drew a pistol from his belt and twirled it like a toy,
"I'll fight, but not surrender," said the Wild Colonial Boy."

Heres what Gaffney and Gog has this to say about The Aurora.....
"Someone out there has found their way to this site from another blog - The Aurora. A blog belonging to a bunch of guys best characterized by the country singer Todd Snider as "Conservative Christian, right wing Republican, straight, white, American males. Gay bashin’, black fearin’, poor fightin’, tree killin’, regional leaders of the South. Frat housin’, keg tappin’, shirt tuckin’, back slappin’ haters of hippies like me. Tree huggin’, peace lovin’, pot smokin’, porn watchin’ lazyass hippies like me."
Um..Thanks!

More Honky Less Donkey
Lawrence Elder makes an excellent point in this article that perhaps African-Americans and their leadership could learn alot from the Irish in this country during the mid 1800's. If the Irish had to become white to succeed, then maybe the blacks need to become Irish (then immediately screw over the mexicans)"One hundred fifty years ago, Manhattan's tens of thousands of Irish seemed mired in poverty and ignorance, destroying themselves through drink, idleness, violence crime and illegitimacy ... An estimated 50,000 Irish prostitutes worked the city in 1850 ... Illegitimacy soared, tens of thousands of abandoned Irish kids roamed the city's streets. Violent Irish gangs fought each other ... but primarily they robbed houses and small businesses. More than half the people arrested in New York in the 1840s and 1850s were Irish ..."

Thomas Dolby Liberals
“But even if a majority of scientists had voted for human-caused global warming, that’s not how science works. Unlike in politics, the majority does not rule. Rather, every advance in science has come from a minority that found that observed facts contradicted the prevailing hypothesis. Sometimes it took only one scientist; think of Galileo or Einstein.”

The Manchurian Candidate
My fellow Auroran recently levelled the accusation (among many) that Al Gore is a liar. To which our left leaning readership were aghast. Al Gore a liar??? -- but he loves the environment, it cant be true, he has the moral high ground and that this certainly must be the dastardly work of the VRWC (aka the TRUTH)
For this argument I will avoid the subject Global Warming as it has already become a no-win debate. Just as arguing against affirmative action means youre a racist or abortion makes you a misogynist...liberals are too emotional to be rational on this issue. Hey, I love the environment (whats not to love) and even in my advancing age am still active on numerous conservation projects -- yet in the eyes of the left....Im a seal clubber because I doubt the motives, the science, and the proposed "cures" for this "problem".
Im going to take it a step further. Not only is Al Gore a liar but a documented and known Communist sympathizer. Yeah thats right...a commie. But unlike when I am called a nazi by those krazy kos kids Ive got facts to back up my accusation. Yeah thats right...FACTS! Run hippies run.
Al Gore illegally (knowingly) used White House resources for campaign fundraising. Fact.
Communist China were some of the largest contributors. Fact.
Al Gore lied about attending a campaign fund raiser at a Buddhist Temple. Fact.
Communist China received U.S. military trade secrets in exchange. Fact.
As head of the U.S. Export Policy for Encryption Technology. Al Gore was directly responsible for this. Fact.
A day after giving Clinton/Gore a $100,000 donation, RSA Security (and commie front company) received a massive government contract at the behest of Al Gore to manufacture electronic computer security cards. These cards were made in factories owned by People's Liberation Army. Fact.
Almost all chips were found to posses "backdoor" and "trojan" programs. Fact.
Al Gore pressured McDonnel Douglas to violate export laws and sell Communist China a factory that manufactured intercontinental ballistic missiles (but the Chinese said they'd use it for "civilian" purposes). Fact.
As Peter M. Leitner of the DoD testified...
"It was a classic spy network, nothing exotic about it, It included compromised public officials paid off with illegal campaign contributions."
Communist China was exempted from the Kyoto Protocol authored by Al Gore. Fact.
Al Gore has lied about all of the above. Fact.
But it did not end when he left office....
Google is denied entry into Communist China's market. Fact.
Al Gore is named to the board of Google. Fact.
Google is granted access to the Chinese market under strict Communist control and censorship. Fact.
Al Gore is now a billionaire (give or take a few hundo) because of his Google stock ownership. Fact.
An Inconvienant Truth costs $19.99 on Amazon. Fact.
So excuse me if I get a little algoraphobic and throw the bullshit flag on anything he says....but he sure does love that gosh darm adorable environment (almost as much as Red China)

Who Said it?
"I want to take the oil company profits and put them into an energy fund"
That's right, this politician wants to have THE GOVERNMENT TAKE THE PROFITS OF PRIVATE COMPANIES.
So who said it?
A. Hugo Chavez
B. Vladimir Putin
C. Hillary Clinton
D. All of the above
Here's the answer
Donkey adds....
The Socs Versus The Greasers
"I want to take those profits, and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund"
Hillary Clinton on Exxon's record quarter.
1. Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
2. The stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved.
American Heritage definition of Socialism.
And liberals have a problem with me calling them pinkos why?
This just goes to show you how deep the hatred for Bush actually is on the left. Apple Computer has been posting record profits, Google has a market cap larger than McDonalds and Ford combined, Home Builders have been reporting blockbuster sales, Milk prices are at an all time high.....but its always Big Bad Oil that bears the brunt of the hippie wrath. It makes no sense and it demonstrates just how irrational liberals are, not to mention the fact that pro-war Hillary is leading in every poll for the candidacy of the anti-war Democrat Party. You do the math...they are all a bunch of hateful frauds. As Rhino is oft known to say...When will Atlas shrug?

McCain or Guiliani?
How about : None Of The Above.
The Aurorans's are big fans of Rudy, and we would take Mccain over the current crop of democrats running for president, but at this stage of the game we are giving our endorsement to the author of the following resolution which was presented on the floor of the house on November 18 2005.
"Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately.
Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately."
This resolution was in response to the call for surrender by John (nancy's boy) Murtha, and was soundly defeated 403-3.
The author is of course none other than Rep. Duncan Hunter (R) from California. You may remember him from a favorable mention he received from the Aurora when he authored the border fence bill, and that's not all....
"Hunter is a hawkish, former Vietnam veteran who "served in the
173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers" and earned a Bronze Star. His son also served two tours in Iraq as a Marine, so we're talking about a guy who has had "skin in the game" over in Mesopotamia. Additionally, Hunter served on the House Armed Services Committee and rose to the rank of Chairman before the Democrat takeover in 2006. "

....Donkey concurs, and believes that the one area where the Aurora disagree regarding Rep. Hunter is his greatest strength. His position that "fair" trade agreements such as NAFTA, CAFTA etc are no such thing...and need to be scrapped not "fixed". I dont believe in the welfare state for the individual and I certainly oppose it for trading partners. Give America a level playing field and we'll win every time.

Free the Fitzgerald One!
Just because I know everyone loves her like i do, here's another great article from one of my favorites.
Conservatives often ask why so many Republicans go native when they get to Washington, D.C. The answer is: Because you don't defend them when they come under relentless attacks from liberal hatchet men.
Lewis Libby did what you wanted. He didn't place secret phone calls to reporters revealing classified intelligence programs. He supported the war on Islamic fascists. He didn't try to raise your taxes like James Baker III. And he has loyally served Dick Cheney, the man conservatives secretly wish were president.
And now he's on trial for -- at worst -- misremembering who first told him that future reality show contestant Joseph Wilson was sent on a boondoggle to Niger by his wife, Valerie Plame.
