I was watching cable news this morn as he made a pit stop on his woe is me tour and a few thing stuck out....
First he claimed that his apology wasn't sincere and in fact wasn't even written by his own person. Well that doesn't really come as a surprise to me, but isn't that what got him in trouble in the first place... reporting (well reading a telefunken u47 teleprompter) something that wasn't true?
Then he went on to make the incredulous claim that he now once again stands by the story and that no one, repeat no one, ever doubted the veracity of story itself or more specifically the fraudulent memo used as evidence. Umm yeah about that... yes they did, quite vocally actually. In fact, I believe the memo in question was disproved and the source discredited within hours of your broadcast.

It's going to make rewriting history a heckuva lot more difficult, but y'all can keep trying. At least you still have the re-education camps, I mean schools.

I saw Bernard Goldberg last night on the repeat Oreilly (about 12:30 i couldn't sleep) and he was great.
His argument was that Dan Rather, who openly battled a sitting president (Nixon) and signed off his broadcast with the word COURAGE is now claiming that he was coerced by the network to apologize! He didn't have the balls to stand up to some network pussies?????
Obviously it's all lies but this is going to get worse for him (and the networks when he starts blowing up their secrets) before it gets better and you know what?????? I can't wait!!!!

dan is clearly dull-witted. and he was dull-witted at the time (or perhaps something else ... did the network have some dirt on him, or did they make some kind of promise to him for his "apology" ?? did they not follow through and therefore he's making a pitiful attempt to "get back at" the network ??). i'm not defending dan rather here.
that george bush story had been floating around FOR YEARS before dan rather reported on the news. i think of it as "convential wisdom" regarding The W, as has he ever given an explanation that makes sense otherwise.

Finally, some of my favorite people are drunks. Of course if he was a liberal he would be a recovering alcoholic who deserved your sympathy, but since he's a republican (and almost conservative) he's a drunk and a loser.
well, i wasn't bashing drunks at all. i'm a drunk myself (and certainly a loser in many respects) so i have a certain amount of sympathy for him.
there is much written about george bush being at this point in his life, a "dry drunk" ... there's a lot of stuff on-line about the dry drunk phenomenon or syndrome and the public record shows he exhibits many (or all) of the characteristics.
but in a nutshell, it's essentially a person who has given up drinking but has not given up the dangerous thought processes and behaviors that going with being a drunk, nor has he or she dealt with what caused them to be a drunk in the first place. Contrast that with "recovering alcoholics" who are grateful in a real way for their sobriety, and who are humble because they know they are just one tiny drink away from a slip that could end it all for them, and who actively work to change their negative behaviors and thoughts that got them into trouble (and kept them there) in the first place.
i'd be the first one to congratulate geoge bush when he actually does become a recovering alcoholic.
And you are wrong that the Dan Rather story and the various other stories going back decades are untrue. They have not been proven false.
Wow, are you serious? Did you read the post? The documents were fake! Dan Rather lied, his source was a bitter anti Bush loser and Rather ran this story right before the election to try to swing it in favor of the dems. that was his agenda, and it's always been his agenda.
Finally, you say things about the president personally like you know him. Please show examples of his "dangerous thought processes and behaviors"? Besides which, who decides the definition of recovering alcoholic? Some other alcoholics who want everyone to be like them? Maybe you and some others need AA, maybe Bush and some others just needed Jesus, or some other reason (family,career,etc)Who's to say?
there have been many other sources for information about george's having gone MIA at the time. so i believe the story to be true based on what i have read, yes, over the years.
you guys are good at googling, i suggest you look up the dry drunk syndrome and how george bush manifests "symptoms" ... and yes, i do understand many many people quit drinking without AA or 12 steps or any of that nonsense (or so some believe). what works for one may not work for another.
however, in the case we have the president of the united states who, under certain definitions, is displaying characteristics of a certain type of mental illness. i would say there is some evidence that he's bi-polar. but who am i to say.

We just lost a man in my office after years of 12 stepping. Hopefully he'll pop up in a few days/weeks and get clean again but his job wife kids wont be waiting for him this time. AA works for some people so Im not gonna shit on the program for his personal failure, just as your shouldnt shit on Bush for the method he used to achive sobriety, which you know damn well is what you were doing.
